I’m at the table with Pfaltzgraff Painted Poppies dinnerware and a blooming pumpkin centerpiece.
Painted Poppies by Pfaltzgraff provides bold and colorful blooms for the table in a warm palette for fall.
Each piece of the handcrafted collection is made of stoneware with a reactive glaze, with variations in color and pattern, just like flowers in nature.
A tablecloth and napkins with floral medallions provide some additional blooms for a foundation for the table.
I added some round madras woven chargers for some warm texture and contrast to the glaze and finish of the stoneware. They’re layered on scalloped edge woven mats, to provide a flower petal effect.
Rustic Flower Hurricanes by Mikasa add additional floral accents and blooms in a bronze finish for pillar candles at the table.
I was thrilled to discover a shortcut recently to create a blooming pumpkin centerpiece!
The time-consuming step of hollowing out your pumpkin is eliminated to make a vase for your flowers with this method but you have same effect.
Here’s the secret that’s so simple and obvious, I wish I had discovered it sooner. You add a piece of wet floral foam on top of your pumpkin. If your pumpkin has a short stem, you can use the stem to anchor the wet foam in place. My pumpkin was stemless so I used some wet floral tape to secure it to the pumpkin.
You can find wet foam and tape on the floral aisle at the craft store. I found a 2-pack of small round wet floral blocks at Dollar Tree, or you can cut your floral brick the size you need.
Your pumpkin will last whole and uncut so that you can enjoy a fresh arrangement, easily replacing your wet foam and flowers several times during the fall season. I used this same pumpkin as a base for my Chick-fil-A Bouquet.
I picked a $4 bundle of mums and alstroemeria at the grocery store for this floral. I added some snips of shrubs~ Loropetalum with its burgundy-tinted foliage and Kaleidoscope Abelia with blush pink-tinted tips and white bell-shaped flowers. I had a surplus of sage growing so I cut some for the soft texture and gray color to blend with the pumpkin.
Floral fruit bowls with petal embossing are available in all three colors of blooms in the dinnerware~ red, white and gold .
Jumbo soup mugs hold 24 ounces of your favorite fall soup or chili.
Serving pieces including a covered butter dish, salt and pepper shakers, creamer and sugar bowl are available in the Painted Poppies collection.
And a 3 Piece Caddy on Wood Tray is available for organizing kitchen tools or flatware.
Pfaltzgraff Painted Poppies is microwave and dishwasher safe.

LOVE the painted poppies dinnerware. I think the colors are perfect for autumn. Wouldn’t a Thanksgiving table with painted poppies be pretty! Nice tutorial on the centerpiece, too, Mary.
Fabulous!!!!! Thanks for sharing especially the floral pumpkin idea. I’ve done lots of floral pumpkins but it was always tough trying to poke florals, both real & artificial, into the pumpkin. This makes both easier..🎃🎃🎃
I agree! The foam attachment is a great improvement. I always love your creative tablescapes and the Potting Shed. Green with envy over the shed! Thank you Mary.
Magic Mary! How you add a snip of this and a snip of that to your grocery store bundle is truly magic! Your pumpkin is gorgeous, and I can’t wait to try the foam on top tip! Love the colors and contrasts of the dinnerware, the utensil holder is adorable~ Your woven mat and charger add another textural bloom to this pretty table full of posies and tiger pumpkins!

I always love seeing your tablescape creations, Mary! This poppy pattern is such a pretty one for Fall. I bought the floral foam from the Dollar Tree and I’m going to try your technique on a small pumpkin. I’m really loving that gorgeous wooden board that’s under the pumpkin, too!
This blogger lives on a lake in Mississippi. She has some recipes, but she is such a great photographer and decorator. Anyway, this is a blog on a Fall table setting. The dinnerware has poppies on it. The flowers are so nice. But expensive. I thought you might enjoy the photos.
On the right she has a link to a ‘cookie’ or appetizer that is leaves cut out of pie dough that is seasoned. You might like it.
We have about 12 geese in our pond behind our house. They are so much fun to watch. It makes a peaceful scenery.
I am in the middle of another email to you that I haven’t completed because Ryan called me. I will get back to it soon.
You have an impeccable eye for color and pattern. Combining those Target linens with that pattern from Pfaltzgraff elevates both. I’m always amazed at your compositions.
A wonderful table!! I love the dinnerware (especially like the idea of the flatware holder) and your choices of linens and accent pieces are, as usual, striking and beautiful. Gotta try that flowering pumpkin idea. Thanks so much for sharing this. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
What an absolutely brilliant idea to avoid hollowing out the pumpkin in this beautiful centerpiece! The floral arrangement is stunning for fall as is the table design. Thanks for sharing…
You have showcased the Mikasa Painted Poppy dishes beautifully. Every detail has your magic touch. I love the pumpkin flower arrangement and plan to try my hand at this. Thanks for the tip for the floral foam on top of the pumpkin.
I so love this table for Fall!!!….Such a beautiful collection….and must say that my favorite item is the silverware caddy!…I can also see lots of uses for it too….Another incredibly gorgeous table Mary….Happy Fall!!…I am sure the lake is looking pretty colorful by now….
I have a pumpkin tureen that I picked up from QVC years ago. I never use it except for display in my china cabinet. I think I will take my fake fall flowers out of a basket I use for outdoors and put then in the tureen and use that as my center piece. And set each smaller pumpkin tureen on plates and add a flower or something special. Thanks for the idea to repurpose something old and make it new again.
This is a BEAUTIFUL dinnerware set and I love that it has all the accessories too! That makes it extra special! I will have to go see if I can get some of it. Your table is exquisite once again. Love the tablecloth it is perfect with these dishes. Do you take a dish with you to buy the linens? They always match so beautifully! Have a beutiful day, Mary.
Such a beautiful table, and that centerpiece makes me swoon! It is a show-stopper, and so cleverly executed….I absolutely love that you didn’t have to cut into the pumpkin so it keeps longer!
I had saved a recipe for the mini pumpkin pies from your blog last year, and shared the link on Facebook. When it popped up in my Memories, I had to share it again. This year I’ll have time to make them. And then I saw this lovely post and those elegant Rustic Flower Hurricanes from Mikasa. They’re perfect for my Fall table, and are on clearance. So yay! I love Fall and all it’s colors, and since we don’t get much of that in So. CA, I have to create it inside my house. So this makes me feel warm and cuddly. Thank you.

Hi, this blogger lives on a lake in NC :)
I’m going to use the pumpkin-vase idea! It’s so clever, I love it.

I love seasonal table decor. I have several and need to not allow my Jeep Cherokee to pull into the parking lot of Pottery Barn or Pier One…….
