Weekend Waterview: Here Comes the Sun!

DSC_1781-001

After 10 days of rain and three very wet weekends in a row, we’re enjoying some welcome sunshine!

It’s clear and frosty this weekend and fall has definitely arrived in North Carolina. . .

The plus side to all our rain is the pond is full!

Fall color has peaked and most of the leaves came down with our rain but there are still some pockets of golden color to enjoy.

We woke up to our first freezing temperatures this morning and steam fog rising off the lake.

Chloe and I went out to take these photos while Gracie stayed curled up on the sofa with a blanket :)

While I know most folks are looking forward to the arrival of the Christmas season, I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving and will be sorry to see the colors of fall fade and pumpkin season come to a close. . .*sniff*

Hope you’re enjoying some beautiful weather where you are!

Wonder what Chloe was thinking about when she was looking into the water.

After enjoying Maine fall, I’m now waiting for it to happen in Houston though there is not much to it when it comes to color. What changes is the temperature which is very fall like.

Beautiful and serene photos. The adventurous Chloe is too cute!! Like you, I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and will miss the glorious Fall colors…and the pumpkins! Enjoy the weather and your day.

Mary, I feel the same. Autumn is my favorite season with its russet colors and season of gratitude. I hate to see it go. Honestly, I’m not yet in the Christmas mood. It amazes me to see that some in our neighborhood have already put greenery, wreaths with red bows, and Christmas lights about their homes. It’s all about pumpkins and turkeys here for the time being.
Enjoy your beautiful weather. It is rainy here in TX again. Our Texas lakes and reservoirs are now all full or almost at capacity again. It’s a good feeling after the severe years of drought here in TX.

Gorgeous photos Mary, I’m sure you’re doing a happy sunshine dance after weeks of rain and gloom! Hope it lasts through the week~

Leaving beautiful Mooresville and your lovely Lake Norman now. The weekend could not have been prettier … a little frosting on grasses and roofs included! Thank you for sharing your neck of the woods and the pond. Your photos are always magazine and print-worthy!

  18. November 15, 2015 at 12:57 pm

Mary, It’s so nice to see your lake filled again! I also love the fall colors and the crispy air. I wish fall and Christmas could be farther apart so we could enjoy each for a little longer. Chloe looks like she is wondering how all the water came back! We are enjoying a beautiful day here after a frosty yesterday and night. I would love to be on your lake, with the gorgeous colors and views, sitting in that chair! Enjoy your sunny day! Linda

It’s so nice thatnyour lake is full, Mary! Your photos are so pretty and I’m sure Chloe enjoyed her time with just you. I’m sad to see Fall go, too, as it’s rush, rush, rush, onto the Christmas season.

Absolutely gorgeous! It’s a good day when I can start it with beautiful pictures and the smile of a doggie. Thanks.

i can’t even imagine that 10 days or rain can restore your large lake, if only it was that easy out west! well, actually if it was, we would be in giant mudslides so we just take it as it trickles in so far. the steam and placid waters look so inviting to the soul, perfect time to curl up and read. i am just heading back to blues and greens any minute now, i will sorely miss the vibrant colors i am leaving behind, so much so i may just be back for another dose… enjoy the beauty that abounds~

I’m with you about enjoying the beauty of autumn and look forward to Thanksgiving before the rush to Christmas. Thank you for your beautiful lake pictures. It made my day.

How great it is to see your dock actully in water, and all those cottages actually lakeside. Here, in the midwest we take our water for granted…but the up and down of even Lake Michigan can be catastrophic to lakeside communities. Happy water and beautiful Fall. Thanks for sharing, Sandi

I agree with one of the comments in that I wish Fall lasted longer and also the Christmas season. I love Fall and especially the gorgeous colors. We have had a pretty mild Fall this year and that has been lovely. I loved your pictures, the lake looks so beautiful and calm.

  27. November 16, 2015 at 6:04 am

Looks like a nice fall day Mary! I’m glad to hear you finally had some sunshine-enjoy:@)

I’m a day late in reading this as I was at Michael’s yesterday buying the Tartan chargers for my Christmas place settings. What a bargain. Thanks Mary for the nice tip. Also, found a great price on an evergreen wreath to make a pretty table top Advent wreath. :) Fall is my favorite season as well with all of the beautiful colors and crisp mornings. Yesterday was like a September day with 66 degrees and sunny! Chloe is too cute with her approving look on the water level. Love the lake and so glad it is full.
