I’ve been feathering my nest and decking the halls of the Potting Shed for Christmas!
Adding greenery and pine cones to window boxes. . .
to wellies. . .
And to watering cans.
I filled a basket on the door with a mixture of freshly cut cedar, pine, and boxwood. I added the greenery to wet floral foam to anchor it in place and to keep it fresh longer since it has a sunny southern exposure.
A bird ornament flew in to land among some pine cones, along with red apples and a tartan ribbon, for a punch of holiday color.
And the post box is filled with boxwood, cedar and pine cones, along with Christmas Greetings.
My window box is liner free and home to a bird house nesting among the evergreens for the Christmas season~ magnolia, pine, juniper, cedar and a swag of tartan ribbon.
And tartan ribbon is climbing a bird finial topped topiary, replacing the clematis vine that was growing this summer.
My olive bucket is holding pine cones and cedar for the Christmas season. It’s supporting a rake with some vintage garden tools and a basket tied with tartan ribbon, filled with additional cedar and a bird nest.
Nothing says Christmas to me more than the scent of fresh greenery!
I *deerly* love decorating with it outdoors since it’s free for the clipping and easy to sweep up the shedding needles and falling berries.
I sprinkled greenery in my hanging galvanized watering cans and filled the spouts of those with missing roses.
A long needle pine garland adds some green and softness to my bench, replacing the Black-eyed Susan vine.
And I filled a bird topped topiary cone with inexpensive shatterproof red ornaments for a pop of cheery Christmas red, tied off with a piece of tartan ribbon.
A red gazing ball is nesting among the greenery like a large shiny ornament.
Sunshine and temperatures in the high 60s and 70s are in the forecast for the rest of the week, warm enough for poinsettias outdoors!
Help yourself to a Poinsettia Cocktailwhile you’re here, festive and easy to mix and serve for a party, brunch, or to enjoy Christmas Eve!
No shaking, stirring, or straining required, mixing right in your glass.
I’m making my way around the other sides of the shed with greenery, pine cones and red ornaments. More to come next week!
More to come next week!
How’s your Christmas decorating and nest feathering coming along?
Your garden shed decked for Christmas is definitely on the top of my list of Christmas tours…As always it is so festive and there is an over the moon creative idea in every inch of the outside of the shed…I love how you used the rake to hold the vintage garden tools….Now I need to look for one….You started off my day with a smile…Have a great day Mary!!!
Greenery, ornaments and mad for plaid, it’s very merry and bright! LOVE the tall cloche Christmas tree Mary and the gazing ball in the pail especially! Whenever you post about your darling shed I can just see you happily puttering around adding your magic touches and delightful surprises :) The greens coming out of your watering can spouts are delightful! Enjoy the mild temps~

You know that I love every detail of your potting shed decor, but that stack of watering cans makes my heart flutter! Every thing you do is just a visual delight! With the warm weather, a tea party in front of your shed would be delightful!
Oh the Potting Shed…love, love, love your potting shed. I could spend hours there. Thanks for the beautiful post and all the beautiful inspiration!! Merry Christmas!!
Love your beautiful garden shed! As always very creative. I don’t have a shed, but your style and creativity inspires me that I created a garden vignette on the side of my house! Thank you for sharing…I think I will add some ribbon to my garden rake..😀
My favorite potting shed looks sooo pretty all decked out in Christmas splendor, Mary! I love every detail and smiled at the fresh greenery pouring out of the spout on the watering can! I know it must smell wonderful, too, and I wish I could enhale that piney scent right now…guess I’ll have to go light a candle instead!
Your potting shed looks so lovely with the Christmas decorations. We will be getting some of the warmer weather in the 60’s tomorrow with temperatures reaching 71 on Sunday. Hope your MIL is getting better day by day.
Looks like you’ve been having fun-very pretty! Crazy temps this year Mary! Mid sixties here in Philly, folks are going to melt at their ugly Christmas sweater parties:@)
If I had no other Christmas decor than this, including any decorated tree, this would be an ideal Christmas decor for me. Simply natural and full of beauty.

The ole girl looks amazing all dressed up in her holiday best bringing in Christmas !! The postal box is charming !! Not much decorating getting done up north here :( . I did get my finger nails painted red, does that count ??!!! :)

Hi Paula, you made me chuckle, yes, nails count! I’ve had four dogs underfoot so the outside of my shed is all the decorating I’ve gotten done. I need a cocktail or three :)
Mary, I could smell all the fresh pine as I was enjoying puttering around the outside of your potting shed! So festive…love each detail!! Pam @everydayliving.me
Loving all the greenery, I am hauling back a barrel full to the beach, but face it, greenery looks best in a garden, not on a beach! I yearn for my old garden life, to stand on level ground and just play with all all your goodies to my hearts content, hey why am I preaching to the choir, you are living the good life!
Your potting shed is gorgeous all year long, but you have outdone yourself. Such a great use of greenery. My first head designer floral job, I had to make 100 greenery pieces before a touched a flower–(I was allowed to use fruit berries). I certainly learned to appreciate the nuances of green…and you have used them all to perfection. Plus all the galvanized…makes my heart flutter. So gorgeous—I bet you want to spend all your time in there! Thanks, Sandi
Hi Mary, I always look forward to your Potting Shed being dressed for Christmas, Love it all, the Wellies are so fun! just beautiful! thanks so much for joining in for the party!
I’m ADORING your Potting Shed, it looks Cozy enough to move into for the Holidays as a Vacay Retreat! You have Adorned it Beautifully! Blessings and a Merry Christmas from the Arizona Desert… Dawn… The Bohemian
Your potting shed looks so incredibly beautiful! I love how you’ve added so much Christmas greenery, it must smell amazing! I adore all your watering cans, birds and nest of eggs!
Mary, I don’t know how you have the time and energy to get all this done. I’m still tweaking the inside of our home and wrapping what few gifts we give. You are awesome!
I read your comment on Foodie Friday. Glad to know that Betty is back home and her sweet pups are with her. I’m sure the had a good time with your girls, but missed Betty and she them.
Love seeing the potting shed decked out for Christmas. I can tell you have a lot of fun!
Hi Sarah, My shed is decorated but I have NOT wrapped the first gift or FINISHED decorating the tree! It’s 3/4 done and missing the skirt. It’s amazing how much energy those little white dogs have, just keeping up with them set me back. I’ve been negligent in a lot of things, one of them in emailing you back! Thank you for your concern about Betty. Her pups are the better therapy than what she had in rehab. :)
Your potting shed is very festive! It reflects your talent and great taste!🎄🎄
“Stunning” (as always)!!
Love the mail box, where did u find that beauty?
Have a blessed day!
