Are you ready to ring in the new year? I set a table by the tree to enjoy the twinkle and glow of the lights for a New Year’s Eve celebration.
The Santas and sleigh ornaments on our tree are packed away and Santa is ready for a little rest and relaxation. . .
I always feel a little melancholy when the Christmas decorations and tree come down. I decided to redecorate the tree to add a little “happy” in anticipation of the new year and for my sister’s arrival, who was visiting us after Christmas and staying for New Year’s.
Gold and silver ribbon add some New Year’s Eve shimmer along with sparkling ornaments to mix with party horns and tiaras to hang on the tree for a New Year’s Eve celebration.
Clock ornaments on the tree join clocks at the table and on the plates for a New Year countdown.
I found some sparkling picks for the tree on clearance for some silver shimmer and shine and added some New Year’s Eve party blowouts to tuck in the branches.
Gold bands of glittering ribbon hang on the tree reminiscent of streaming party confetti.
Happy New Year tiaras hang on the branches and a hat serves as a tree topper.
And mercury glass votives add some additional shimmer and glow to the table.

Very beautiful! What a nice idea. You have exceptional taste. I love looking at blogs to see how people celebrate our various holidays and yours is one of my favorites. As for me, I come from a Church of England (Anglican) background. By observing the Church calendar rather than being retail driven, we are put in the position of being the eccentrics in the neighborhood – those who observe the 12 days of Christmas. I can tell you it is pretty disheartening to see everything around you go down when you are just getting fired up. But everyone has to march to the beat of their own drum…and you march to yours beautifully!
What a beautiful tree! I like the idea of a New Year’s Tree. I love all the sparkly golds and silvers. I get so many ideas from you. Thank you for sharing. I also use your recipes. Everyone loved the Cha Cha Chicken Salad I made. Also the torellini and cherry tomatoes served with marina sauce was a hit! It’s all in the presentation…and you present your blog with a lot of love and care!

A brilliant idea! Mary, you are no doubt the energizer bunny personified. I’m slowly putting Santa and such away for the year, and you are decorating a fabulous new tree. I love this idea! I love the twinkle of the lights, and your tree decked in all this sparkle is the perfect touch for a New Year’s celebration. I’d love to be bringing in the New Year dining aside this sparkly tree.
How nice that your sister is there to enjoy all this splendor. For me, sister time is very special. There is no friend that I’ve longer than my sister. ‘-) Lucky me that my sister will be back here to help with her grand girls right after the first of the year. Two full weeks!

You are so on the ball! We took off for Cabo so everything is still decorated and will be for a while! I always hate to put it away too. Everything seems to move faster as we get older.

Love the glitz! Very festive. Happy New Year Mary! I will be putting away the Christmas stuff but will leave out the “winter” stuff, (greenery and berries) and some snowmen. The tree will stay up for a week or so with just the white lights, snowflakes and icicles, it’s my “Winter Tree”. The house is just too naked without some decorations and January is so dreary now that all the holidays are over, I need a little “afterglow”.

Mary, thanks for posting this one again. I see I commented above last year, and the same is true for this year. I would never tire of seeing the exquisite details of this table by the tree. It’s the perfect way to bring in a new year, and the way we like to celebrate New Year’s Eve. We’ve long ago given up attending a New Year’s Eve party. Just don’t want to be out on the road. We’d much rather be tucked in our home, sitting by a cozy fire with the tree lights twinkling across the way. New years tree? Great idea!, We have two birthdays the week before Christmas, so hats and horns and paper birthday cakes decorate our tree. Done frugally with help from the dollar store.
