New Year’s Celebration with a Countdown Table and Tree!

DSC_4833-001

Are you ready to ring in the new year? I set a table by the tree to enjoy the twinkle and glow of the lights for a New Year’s Eve celebration.

DSC_4786-001

The Santas and sleigh ornaments on our tree are packed away and Santa is ready for a little rest and relaxation. . .

DSC_4373-001

I always feel a little melancholy when the Christmas decorations and tree come down.  I decided to redecorate the tree to add a little “happy” in anticipation of the new year and for my sister’s arrival, who was visiting us after Christmas and staying for New Year’s.

DSC_4989-001

Gold and silver ribbon add some New Year’s Eve shimmer along with sparkling ornaments to mix with party horns and tiaras to hang on the tree for a New Year’s Eve celebration.

DSC_4770-001

Clock ornaments on the tree join clocks at the table and on the plates for a New Year countdown.

I found some sparkling picks for the tree on clearance for some silver shimmer and shine and added some New Year’s Eve party blowouts to tuck in the branches.

Gold bands of glittering ribbon hang on the tree reminiscent of streaming party confetti.

DSC_4809-001

Happy New Year tiaras hang on the branches and a hat serves as a tree topper.

What a sparkly celebration you’ve planned for your sister’s arrival, Mary. It’s such a nice idea to redecorate the tree with festive New Year’s Eve decor. See the tree in the background with your “timely” tablescape puts one into a party mode. I know you’ll have fun sister party time at your house! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! What a clever, gorgeous idea for your tree. I am taking my decorations down today…it is already dark and raining, so it makes me a little sad too. Every year my husband looks around the “bare” house and says “it looks like we’ve been robbed!” Looking forward to your wonderful posts in 2016!

    • December 30, 2015 at 10:27 am

LUSTING over those flutes. I actually remember lusting over them at z gallerie a few yrs ago. Kicking myself for not giving into my “needs” then! Gonna go look now to see what they have now!
    Happy New Year!

Very beautiful! What a nice idea. You have exceptional taste. I love looking at blogs to see how people celebrate our various holidays and yours is one of my favorites. As for me, I come from a Church of England (Anglican) background. By observing the Church calendar rather than being retail driven, we are put in the position of being the eccentrics in the neighborhood – those who observe the 12 days of Christmas. I can tell you it is pretty disheartening to see everything around you go down when you are just getting fired up. But everyone has to march to the beat of their own drum…and you march to yours beautifully!

What a beautiful tree! I like the idea of a New Year’s Tree. I love all the sparkly golds and silvers. I get so many ideas from you. Thank you for sharing. I also use your recipes. Everyone loved the Cha Cha Chicken Salad I made. Also the torellini and cherry tomatoes served with marina sauce was a hit! It’s all in the presentation…and you present your blog with a lot of love and care!

  23. December 30, 2015 at 11:33 am

A brilliant idea! Mary, you are no doubt the energizer bunny personified. I’m slowly putting Santa and such away for the year, and you are decorating a fabulous new tree. I love this idea! I love the twinkle of the lights, and your tree decked in all this sparkle is the perfect touch for a New Year’s celebration. I’d love to be bringing in the New Year dining aside this sparkly tree.
How nice that your sister is there to enjoy all this splendor. For me, sister time is very special. There is no friend that I’ve longer than my sister. ‘-) Lucky me that my sister will be back here to help with her grand girls right after the first of the year. Two full weeks!
Happy New Year to each of you. Sadie sends special doggie kisses!

Mary – How happy and festive, not to mention gorgeous. I enjoy reading and looking over your site every day. So many beautiful things to look at and ideas for party food, cakes, etc. If you aren’t, you should be a professional shopper. It’s absolutely amazing what you come up with! I can’t imagine the space required to hold all these beautiful things. Thank you for brightening my days. Still raining in Georgia–ugh–so I’ve left my tree up for the ambience.

  30. December 30, 2015 at 2:44 pm

The New Year always comes so quickly! It is always a bit of a shock. I love your idea of putting a tree near the table to enjoy the sparkle of the lights.
You are so on the ball! We took off for Cabo so everything is still decorated and will be for a while! I always hate to put it away too. Everything seems to move faster as we get older.
Hope you have a wonderful 2016 and that it is filled with health and happiness.

I ran out of bandwidth yesterday and couldn’t see your post, I see why, it’s mega wattage! First, I was impressed you had put away Christmas, then to see you redecorated the tree, well hats off to you, a happy new years hat! Gorgeous photos :-)

Love the glitz! Very festive. Happy New Year Mary! I will be putting away the Christmas stuff but will leave out the “winter” stuff, (greenery and berries) and some snowmen. The tree will stay up for a week or so with just the white lights, snowflakes and icicles, it’s my “Winter Tree”. The house is just too naked without some decorations and January is so dreary now that all the holidays are over, I need a little “afterglow”.

I Can’t think of a prettier setting to bring in a new year, Mary. This tree has all the glitz and sparkle of a champagne evening. Wishing you and your mister and the Chloe and Gracie a very festive New Year’s celebration and good health and joy in the coming year. Happy New Year!

  54. December 28, 2017 at 11:32 am

Mary, I’ve long loved the details of this table. We still have our tree up. Like you, I treasure these last days of the glow from the tree lights and shiny ornaments. Thanks for sharing this again. Happy 2018 to you and yours!

  55. December 27, 2018 at 1:27 pm

Mary, thanks for posting this one again. I see I commented above last year, and the same is true for this year. I would never tire of seeing the exquisite details of this table by the tree. It’s the perfect way to bring in a new year, and the way we like to celebrate New Year’s Eve. We’ve long ago given up attending a New Year’s Eve party. Just don’t want to be out on the road. We’d much rather be tucked in our home, sitting by a cozy fire with the tree lights twinkling across the way. Wishing you a very festive New Year’s Eve be it at home or away, and all the best for joy and good health in 2019.

New years tree? Great idea!, We have two birthdays the week before Christmas, so hats and horns and paper birthday cakes decorate our tree. Done frugally with help from the dollar store.
