The winter storm blew through and let us unscathed with much less snow and ice than predicted and the sun made an appearance yesterday to help melt some of it away.
We feel very fortunate to have power after watching all the storm coverage. . .
And are thankful to be able to sweep away inches of snow, rather than shoveling feet of it, or in need of a snow plow.
The white stuff is a grand adventure for Chloe, who loves having access to all the shaved ice she can eat.
Gracie however thinks snow is overrated, cold, and doesn’t care to get her feet wet. . .
But enjoys the shaved ice buffet too.

We got about 8″ up here where we r in Ct., however some parts of the state got up to 14.5″, so we were
quite fortunate!

I see from the morning’s headlines that most of the east is shut down. It looks as though you got just enough snow for a little fun with your snow dogs! Enjoy!
Happy to hear you survived Jonas with little consequences. Here in south central Pa, we received about 30 inches of snow. Not much is moving around out there and PennDot says it may be Monday or Tuesday until they get to secondary roads. I believe I am on a tertiary road. Fortunately I have power and plenty of food. Spent much of yesterday cooking and baking. Well I better head on outside and try to clear the driveway in anticipation of the snow plow. Keep safe and warm!

So Happy for you that power was not lost! I have been without power for days at a time in the 38 years of living in Maine….long enough to buy a generator! We were right in the middle of it and we loved it! I adore snow. Thankfully, it was so powdery and blustery that the trees did not become laden and we did not lose power. The air was white, it fell so densely, and it looked opaque, like fog. I went for a very long walk with my golden lab, Ronan, who loves snow too. I wanted to FEEL and see everything. The blustering, swirling winds, the snow minty on my face, the piles of drifts, my tall boots sinking so deeply with every step that the snow came almost over the top of them. It was work! And so completely beautiful. I felt like I was inside a Christmas card.
And so much fun! We could hear the delighted squeals of children and shouts of joy from their parents, made intrepid by the sheer volume of the snow, sledding joyfully down nearby hills. This, mind you, during the almost blizzard like conditions. We even played catch! I would throw the ball, the wind would blow it around, and sink into the depths of snow, whereby Ronan would pounce and pounce, pushing the snow with his nose until he found it. After about an hour and a half my husband had to drag both of us in. To my surprise, my hat was crusted over, my clothes were crusted over, and I couldn’t feel any of it. When we came back in and were all warm and dry I longed to go back out. In the end, I think we had over 20″! Today is sunny, clear, and bright, and the snow glints like diamonds. Jonas is one of those storms Richmond will be talking about for years.

37″ here in VA, but we still have electricity! …and in the best traditions of Hunt Country we laid in plenty of champagne before the storm. Yeah ! Let it Snow!

I love seeing pets in the snow. It’s always fun when they experience it for the first time. Although we don’t have it here in central Texas very often, I remember back when we had 13 inches overnight once and the dogs were funny to watch. Of course, we were pretty funny to watch, too!

That Chole and Gracie is just too cute!!!! Glad to here you did not lose power. We lost power Fri. at 5:00pm and got power back last night around 6:00pm. We got a lot of ice on trees and power lines. Thankfully the Sun is shining today. Love the snow but don’t care for ice. Thank you for the beautiful pictures!
Hi from NC. We got just a light dusting with some sleet. Our roads are fine, thanks our wonderful local road crew. Lost power for a short time, nothing major. Unfortunately some of the trees were hit hard and weighted down with ice.
This morning it is a winter wonderland . The trees are covered with thousands diamonds of light. Absolutely beautiful as the sun hits. Melting fast so this will be gone too soon.

We had snow for over 24 hours. I am guessing we got about 20 inches or so. The streets got plowed overnight but the driveways and sidewalks are being done today. Your snow babies are SO sweet, and that is a handsome guy too;) Glad you didn’t get too much. We are IN again today. Hopefully tomorrow we can get out. The sun is out though and it is beautiful!
Hi Mary, You received just the right amount of snow for a little outdoor fun! We had about a foot but we are plowed out and hubby went skiing. We were really missing our brown snow dog yesterday :( but I love seeing your white flurries! Stay warm. Linda

That is what my Mom would call a perfect snowfall. Enough to look good, but not enough to be trouble. Glad you were spared the worst. Maybe next year I will take my poppets somewhere with snow so they get to experience it. I would love to see what they do with it.
No snow in south Alabama but COLD temps for us. Waking up to 27 or so degrees the last four days. Lots of wind that made it seem colder. Yesterday it was still 37 at noon and windy. That ‘s usual for our neck of the woods.
Glad your event was less than predicted. The girls have their own personalities I see. Fun to see your pictures. The snow is beautiful and your snow dogs adorable.

I’m happy to say I’m from Lancaster County, PA. We have 30 + inches here! I love it. I don’t have to do any shoveling because my landlord takes care of that. But I love snow so much, I was out there shoveling anyway! My thoughts always turn to the homeless and the stray animals. I hope they are all OK.
I just love how everything comes to a stand still when it snows like this. I live on a busy road, and during the snowstorm, I opened the door and it was such beautiful silence! My next place will hopefully be in a quieter place.

Now THAT is my kind of snowstorm!! Chloe and Gracie are SO CUTE!! I have to put the girls’ jackets on because I lose track of them in the snow!! When it is blowing and drifting, it is very helpful to have them in bright colors!! Thanks for sharing your two precious pups!!

Love your photos of Chloe and Gracie experiencing the snow. I agree that you had just the right amount of snow not like here where we had 20 inches. Our Shortie (Beagle/Corgi) loves eating snow. Even though she is an old lady of 12, she still enjoys the snow.
