Weekend Waterview: Winter Sunrise

DSC_6156-001

What a difference a week makes. A week ago we were slipping on ice trying to keep the birds fed in the snow and Chloe and Grace were enjoying a shaved ice buffet.

Our forecast this weekend is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 60s into next week.

I took these photos this week after the snow melted away.

I always enjoy seeing the steam fog rising off the lake in the winter. . .

And see the clouds reflected in the lake with the sunrise.

Hope you’re enjoying a little winter thaw and sunshine this weekend!

Beautiful, Mary! I can’t wait for our dirty snow banks to melt, hopefully this weekend and into the new week. We’re also going to have mild [daytime] temps through mid-week. It’s a nice break from winter.

Breathtakingly Beautiful, Mary!!! You must have been up at the crack of dawn & outside in your jammies & slippers to capture such early morning magnificence. Any one of those shots would make a terrific notecard or computer desktop image….OR the cover of a book by YOU!!!

Seeing your photos of the reflections of the clouds in the water are so breathtakingly beautiful, Mary. You must be awestruck, seeing it all in person. Enjoy your balmy days on your lovely lake!

Mary, One of my favorite things is to rise very early and go outside to a lake and your photos today truly evoke that feeling of quiet and serenity. Just amazingly beautiful. I love the way you captured not only the colors and fog and details but also the feathers of the bird in flight. Gorgeous! Linda

Mary, Your pictures are so serene and lovely! Too early for Gracie and Chloe?? I lived on the ocean in Cape Elizabeth Maine for 32 years and the best part was sunrise and sunset. Your pictures reminded me of all the beauty that surrounds us …..enjoy the warmth. Even here we are going to reach 50! Winter has been gentle so far this year.

Your photos are an incentive to be awake early and enjoy the start to a beautiful day. We will be enjoying the next week of sunshine weather. Daffodils are up about 9 to 10 inches. Magnolias have already bloomed. Camellias are gorgeous. There are definite advantages to living in the South. Predictions for an early spring, maybe.

Always love to see your fur babies.

Every superlative I can come up with has already been used in the above comments….I will just join the chorus…
    Well done, Mary.

Your photos are always so wonderful! I grew up on Lake Norman many, many years ago and your pics bring back so many wonderful memories.

Mary, Seeing pictures of Lake Norman brings back a childhood trip with my parents and the family of my mother’s friend that she worked with. I only remember her name being Jessie. Jessie and her husband owned a “small” vacation cottage on the lake and invited us to visit them for an extended weekend. It was there that I water skied for the first time, drove a boat and swam in the lake. I still remember how pretty it was and that was 45 years ago. Whenever our travels take us south, I always look for the exit for Lake Norman and remember that fun weekend.

It’s so enjoyable to read your blog and to have that connection to the lake you live on and to see how it’s even more beautiful than I remember.

    Hugs, Peggy

Soooo pretty! Thanks for sharing. We’re having a very mild weekend her in MI – going to be in the 50’s and that’s REALLY unusual for us for the end of January, but I’m LOVING it! Happy Sunday! :)

The sunrise is beautiful and capturing the reflection of the pink clouds on the water is breathtaking! Oh to live on the lake! My grandparents were blessed to retire on Lake Martin in Alabama and I was blessed to spend many years of weekends & summer months with them. I miss it so much. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us!
