I serving up some tea and whimsy with an Alice in Wonderland-inspired table for Valentine’s Day!

2015 marked the 150th anniversary of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

“Yes, that’ s it,” said the Hatter with a sigh: “it’s always tea-time.”

Floral teacups are ready for sipping tea or serving rose frosted cupcakes. . .

Clocks are at the table  . . .don’t be late!

Keys for Alice to unlock the door . . .

The Queen of Hearts:

“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

King of Hearts:

“Begin at the beginning,” the King said gravely, “and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

Hearts, hearts and hearts galore!

Stir in some red sparkling sugar crystals in your teacup for Valentine’s Day. . .

Heart Demitasse Spoons make stirring your tea extra sweet!

There are plenty of sweets and treats at the table for Valentine’s Day. . .

Help yourself to some rose meringues! Light, crisp, airy meringue cookies that melt in your mouth! Serve with a straw as whimsical cookie pops . . .

“Curiouser and curiouser!”

Or in a teacup as edible roses for Valentine’s Day, tea time, or anytime you want your celebration extra sweet!

Recipe for Rose Meringues, HERE.

The Mad Hatter: “Have I gone mad?”

Alice: “I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”

“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.

“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone, “so I can’t take more.”

“And what is the use of a book,” thought Alice, “without pictures or conversation?”

I was lucky recipient and winner of Everything Alice from Art @ Home!

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! It is supposed to be 10 degrees Sunday here in Southampton, that’s cold even for Long Island.

Mary, I flew over immediately when I saw Alice in Wonderland. I am most definitely an Alice fan. I have the book, and it is wonderful! It’s a book one can judge by it’s cover and not be disappointed. I’ve not tried anything, but it is full of fun things. I swoon over your Grace’s Teaware black and white each time I see it. I keep watching Home Goods, TJ, and Marshall’s hoping they will have it again. Darling heart tea infuser too. As always, each detail is charming.
I hosted my antique club here today. My table was set with a Queen of Hearts theme, so I had lots of fun pulling it all together. Hope to share photos soon.

I’m new to your blog & I’m so impressed!! Lovely photos, beautifully styled. My niece had an Alice in Wonderland themed wedding last year. She managed to find an old Alice tea pot. Unfortunately at the end of the evening one of the waiters dropped it & smashed it to smithereens. He was mortified!

  26. February 11, 2016 at 9:26 pm

You have outdone yourself yet again. Darling and creative post.

Aw, thanks for the “shout out.” I’m happy you’re enjoying the book! I do love all things Alice, and an Alice-themed Valentine’s table is truly a wonderful idea. I love the black, white, red, and pink. I also enjoyed the meringue cookie post. They do look like little roses. Shanley Belle (my oldest daughter) wants to make them this weekend!

    Adorable post, Mary!

Mary, I’m trying to stay warm here with my own cup of tea but I know if I was sitting at this magical tea table I would be much happier! Ever since Alice’s 150th bday last year I have been fascinated by all things Alice and your table is just perfect with the clocks and keys and the dainty teapot filled with the Queen and her hearts. So beautiful! Linda

Mary, I always love your posts. This was really nice and different. When I see all you do I wonder how long it takes you to set it up, to bake and most of all I would love to see where you store all of your dishes. Do you have a dish room? I wonder this almost every time.
    Warm Hugs,

I can remember being terrified by the story of Alice in Wonderland. I remember crying and wanting my sister to stop reading it aloud!!! Yes, I was weird as a kid! :-) Gorgeous table!
