Happy first day of Spring!
I’m chalking it up to welcome Spring on my Potting Shed door!
We’ve had some beautiful spring weather here in North Carolina with temperatures 70s and 80s in the last couple of weeks, more typical of May than March. We’re chiller this morning, with temperatures in the 40s and 30s today and tomorrow, but the forecast is for temperatures to climb back to the 70s by Wednesday.
The cherry, pear and plum trees are flowering. . .
Daffodils and forsythia, the harbingers of spring, are blooming. . .
And nothing says spring like the fragrance of hyacinths!
Bees are already buzzing . . .
And I’m ready for the bloom!

Weather in Indiana is spring, fall & winter like all in the same day….but our daffodils, crocus and some trees are blooming..another couple weeks and maybe we’ll be in full spring!! Beautiful chalk board and potting shed…💐🌷🌺🌻💐

Hi Mary, The floral scent must be heavenly there with the cherry blossoms and hyacinths in bloom! We are having a glorious unexpectedly sunny day (still in the 20s) after predictions of up to 15″ of snow. (Our neighboring town even cancelled the big local annual St. P Day parade for today!) But I’m happy to have the sun ~~ the daffodils which just popped this week and the buds on the trees are safe now. I’m in love with your blooming Bloom and the floral pitcher too! Linda

Your daffodils and first signs of Spring are beautiful. We have had such a warm winter by Maine standards, but, like you, we are COLD this morning and expecting 6 inches of snow! We are not happy as our grass is green and we have not had snow cover in weeks. Thank you for sharing on this first day of Spring! I always love your pictures of beautiful Lake Norman! Jannieo
Would you believe I woke up to SNOW this morning?! I am sooo sick of winter. Your post is truly a breath of fresh Spring air. I can almost smell those hyacinths & I bought a purple one just yesterday, so it could open up inside the house. I couldn’t wait for the ones outside to bloom.
BTW, something has eaten ALL the tops off every single one of my tulips!!!!!Grrrrr!!! Last year, they ate only the reds ones, this year they chomped off every single one of them before the buds even came up. *sigh*
I love that chintz pitcher…new purchase??? If so, where??
Hi Rett, So sorry about your tulips! I gave up on trying to grow tulips a long time ago and settled for daffodils, which aren’t palatable to deer or any furry critter :). The chintzware pitcher came from HomeGoods several years ago, used on my table with my grandmother’s flower garden quilt, here.
The pic of the chair is absolutely perfect Mary! Very peaceful looking. We’re supposed to see some snow tonight… Ugh. I’m ready for warm weather and grilling out-enjoy:@)

Happy Spring Mary!! Like your area, our temperatures are in the 40’s today and it is raining. Love the potting shed and decorations. Your hyacinths are already in bloom and I’m sure they smell heavenly. Our hyacinths are popping up out of the ground. Some of them will probably bloom once the temperatures go into the 70’s on Wednesday.
Happy Spring Melodie! After all our rainfall this fall, we need some spring rain.
I nipped some viburnum branches yesterday and they are just starting to open today…fragrance two rooms away!! Luv your chalk drawings!! franki

It sleeted here today! But just for a few minutes. Your beautiful pictures of spring brought sunshine and happiness to my neck of the woods. According to the Yahoo weather forecast, Thursday should be in the 70s. I can’t wait! Give the girls a big ole hug from Aunt Mlee.

We were spoiled with 50’s and 60’s a few weeks ago, but the good news is it won’t be long before warmer weather comes for us too! Thanks for sharing such delightful pictures!

Mary I love your site and check in often when I need some inspiration and to smile. Any hints on stringing a glass jar to hang like you do. My attempt to do one for a still life/vignette I was going to paint ending in it slipping and a messy smash! :(( Helpful hints welcome. Thanks
Thank you Gloria! I used some heavy duty garden twine and wrapped it around the lip of the jar where the threads are, three or four times. I made a loop to attach and hang the jar from there. If your knot is secure and your twine is strong you should be OK :) Happy Easter!
