I’m at the Table with Azaleas, Roses, and Snowballs~ Snowball Viburnum that is, in a celebration of spring flowers! Spring has in been in bloom for several weeks now, pollen has started to wane and it’s perfect weather to dine outdoors again!
I set a table that’s a mix of old and new that’s casual and comfortable for a garden setting with a quilted coverlet as a tablecloth. I pulled out my Great Aunt’s delicate Limoges china and hold my breath every time I use it. There were originally 12 place settings once upon a time with six of the fragile dinner plates remaining. The quilt is new and machine made and can go into the washing machine if needed without any fear of spills or damaging a family heirloom or delicate stitching.
I cut some viburnum and azalea blooms, along with white spring flowers from our laurel shrubs. I added them to some wet floral foam in a galvanized Flowers & Garden bucket for a celebration of spring and centerpiece for the table.

The only snowballs you want to see in April!
The hydrangea-like blooms start out green, changing over to cream and then white. It’s also ideal to enjoy as a cut flower.

Delicate roses are blooming on dishes along with a patchwork floral and embroidered quilted coverlet as a foundation for the table.
Portmeirion Botanic Garden flatware is blooming, attracting small butterflies seeking nectar on the bowls and handles of the flatware.
Mikasa French Countryside is a favorite goblet for casual or formal dining with its curvy bell-shape bowl and hour-glass stem.

Great combination and great photos! So pretty in pink. I had some frost nip on my hydrangeas (hoping the blooms aren’t affected), as well as my hostas & mountain laurel……every year is another surprise adventure as to what you’ll get in the garden. To compare our timing, my neighbor’s snowball viburnum blooms are just now green.
This is such a beautiful setting. I love everything. Azaleas are my husband’s favorite flower. We always look forward to seeing them in the spring. The table setting is beautiful. I think the silverware is especially eye catching. Thanks for sharing.

I would LOVE to sit at this beautiful, floral table with that VIEW!! It truly is priceless to me. After lunch we could take a pontoon cruise:) I have always loved that flatware. How wonderful it must be to dine at this gorgeous table and feel as if you are dining in a garden itself and then you look around and realize that the gardens surround you too….next to the hydrangea…the snowball viburnum is my favorite! And lunching on Limoges has to be the ultimate! Love that wonderful bucket of things to start the celebration of Spring.

When you do your tablescapes outdoors they are always so beautiful! And this is one is another gorgeous one. Love the fact that the dishes are heirlooms.
Your lovely tablescape just sings out “Spring!” with layers of detail and memories. We have a small yard, so I cheat and purchase blossoms for inside displays and leave the azaleas, peonies, honeysuckle etc uncut outside.
Your spring table is just gorgeous, as is the setting. I don’t think I’d ever want to go back inside after the meal was over :). I’ve had the same laurel shrubs for years and have never once thought to add them to floral arrangements. Thanks for sharing that idea.

My favorite spring flowers are the Lady Banks Roses with it’s cascading blossoms of white surrounded by the brilliant pink flowers of the Formosa Azalea. 😊
The tablescape is lovely and heartwarming, and your photos are gorgeous.
This is possibly one of my favorite posts! Because these are some of my favorite spring flowers! Love, love the snowball bush and mine is thriving. In fact, I may just have to duplicate your setting and arrangement. It really brought a smile to my face. But, my absolute favorite spring flower is the peony! And as I walked the garden this morning, they are full of buds. By the middle of next week I’ll have scrumptious peonies to add.
Mary, Those dishes are so dainty! You are lucky to be the one who received them! I am intrigued by your laurel. Mountain Laurel is our state flower, with similar shiny leaves, but it does not work well as a cut flower, and I lost my bushes a few years ago after a rough winter. I don’t think we have your variety up here but I love it in combination with your azalea and snowballs! Linda
