I hope you had a Happy and flower-filled Mother’s Day!
I’ve been busy as a bee, buzzing and planting around the Potting Shed.
Pretty in pink blooms are popping up everywhere. . .
A watering can, freshly picked from HomeGoods, with a pretty pink flower as a rose came home with me. . .
A girl can never have too many watering cans. . .
I confessed to my watering can obsession here.
I’m taking the time to stop and smell the peonies since their season is brief!
I cut some pink blooms and some privet branches that are flowering to fill my new watering can.
Penstemon is blooming and pretty in pink. . .
And a spade blooming with pink flowers is almost too pretty to use.
Pink Double Knock Out Roses are blooming.
I planted this shrub last spring and hoping it doesn’t succumb to Rose Rosette Disease. I have some suspicious looking red growth on some canes on a shrub that’s planted on the back side of my Potting Shed.
Clematis is flowering. . .
And foxglove with its tubular blooms has a touch of pink on its speckled throat.

Your peonies are waaaay ahead of mine. In fact, I must remember to go put the cages on mine before they get much bigger.
You are right, that flowered spade is much too pretty to use! Just stand it up in a pot & let it be a decoration.

Hi Jackie! It’s Japanese Privet, it blooms only briefly in the spring.
Beautiful! I also have a watering can affliction, but not as bad as yours. ;) We are away right now, but before I left the monsoons at home, I was keeping watch on my irises – the purples were blooming, but my yellows (just 2 years transplanted, never yet bloomed) were still in bud, so I may not see their lovely faces until their 3rd year. :/ Your garden is so wonderful, Mary, and I enjoy each and every post of your photos. Oh Linda…I’m so sorry to hear that :( Our neighbors lost half of their KOs and took them out this spring. I’m guessing the other half will succumb too. I hope you find something wonderful to plant in their place!

I stopped into Whole Foods on Saturday to pick up some pretty pink peonies to take to a friend. It was a location I don’t usualy stop, and I noticed that the floral department has wheelbarrows hanging from the rafters. I wanted to get a photo for you, but didn’t have my camera with me. I’ll go back and do that. They were all sizes, shapes, and colors as well used. It was fun!

I loved walking in the garden today with you! The foxgloves are in their glory, and your peonies are showstoppers. What are the tall white flowers in the background? Your KOs are splendid, too==fingers crossed that they’re healthy. A few of my canes looked odd and red, but they are turning green, and RRD doesn’t do that, I don’t think. If you Google Fine Gardening and RRD, there’s an article about pruning suspicious canes (but I myself am taking a cautious approach, seeing if they turn green; but I won’t wait much longer). Worth a shot! Love seeing your magic around the potting shed, with the darling watering can. I love your collection. Wishing you a sunny, not-too-hot week and plenty of magical gardening and fun! Thank you Michael Lee! I read the same info in Fine Gardening and almost took my shears to a couple of canes as a precaution, I guess I’ll wait :) The white flowers are Gaura. I planted it last spring and it tolerates drought, heat and humidity!
Your garden is gorgeous! I, too, love pink and blue most in my garden. Will you tell me what the green (possibly ground cover) plant is that grows between your steps and the birdbath? Also, can you give the names of your peony and penstemon plants? They are too beautiful! Your post today was pure joy to me!
Thank you Martha! I have some Wooly Thyme and some Blue Star Creeper planted between my stepping stones. I don’t know the variety of peony, it was already here when we bought our house. The variety of Penstemon is Lavender Riding Hood :)
I don’t think I’ve! ever seen such beautiful flowers! I tried growing a peony while living in Mt. Pleasant. It took 3 years to get my first bloom, and then……we moved! I was just looking at some foxgloves this morning and passed, but after seeing your photos, I’m going back to get them! And your new watering can…..SWOON! Of course you had to have it!

So very, very beautiful in this most enchanted garden filled with not only the most gorgeous flowers but the garden is charmed by the beautiful vintage garden items! Love the “watering can” rain chain! Your foxglove is amazing…mine are a little droopy…I guess I need to give them more water. A garden that is truly among those that we pay admission too!…I love Spring…so that I can see your beautiful garden bloom!
Your peonies are luscious! I swoon when I see peonies and love love foxgloves too. I think your peony is a Sarah Bernhardt. They have the most heavenly scent.I saved the petals for years from my daughter’s wedding flowers and they still had a lovely scent.
I am trying to root an old variety of peony that blooms here. Wish me luck, I would be thrilled. Generally it is too warm here but this heirloom variety blooms at our church every year. I used to grow foxgloves every year and I miss them. They are annuals here and are hard to find and pricey.

Just BEAUTIFUL!! My peonies is only about 2 foot high and growing daily so I need to get the circular cage around the base to help support it later on. I am in love with your bird bath and the little birds that circle the edge. Where do you find such wonderful garden items? Happy for you at your find of such a pretty watering can. We need some warmer spring days – we are still in the low 50’s and rainy.
Hi Cyndi, I have the little bird bath about 20 years old from my retail days. It came from a company called Hen Feathers that has some gorgeous garden pieces. I wish I could trade you a couple of 85 degree days for a few in the 50s :)
