Red, White and Bloom: Potting Shed Door Basket

DSC_4224-001

I’m celebrating the Red, White and Bloom in the Potting Shed this Memorial Day weekend.

Endless Summer Hydrangeas put on a pretty flush of blue blooms in the last couple of weeks. I added some to a basket on the front door of my Potting Shed along with some Queen Anne’s Lace, free-for-the-picking, growing in the field next door.

I’m waving the flag on the door and step-by-step on my ladder, for a patriotic salute for Memorial Day. . .

And pulled out the red, white & blue for a little tabletop fun to celebrate the Stars & Stripes.

My “honey-do” list is growing with garden projects for the long weekend (my hubby will be ready to go back to work on Tuesday ;)

We hope to squeeze in a little boating this weekend too if our weather cooperates.

However you celebrate this Memorial Day, take some time to recognize, reflect, and remember how fortunate we are to live in freedom. Thank you to our military men and women who paid the ultimate price to protect and serve us.

Wishing you a Safe and Happy Memorial Day!

The Queen Anne’s lace with the hydrangeas makes for a stunning welcoming for my favorite potting shed, Mary. I could spend hours looking around at all your pretty touches and decor. I hope you have a chance to get out on your boat and enjoy the beauty. Happy Memorial Day to you, your hubby and Chloe and Gracie! 🇺🇸

Love each and every flower and picture, especially the one with puppy in it. It is important to remember the significance of this weekend and how blessed we are as Americans. Thank you for adding your beauty to our days.

Such beautiful containers…both metal & wicker! You surely have a eye for the unusual, Mary…wish I could go shopping with YOU! LOL We’d be deadly.

Have a thoughtful & enjoyable Memorial Day. I know I’m supposed to visit the grave of my veteran, but I just can’t bring myself to go. It makes me sad…so I will SEW instead! (after the grandkidlets march in the parade)

I want that “field” next to me! Queen Anne’s Lace takes me back to my childhood days of rural Pa. The red, white and blue arrangements are beautiful and so patriotic too. You have such amazing talent and an eye for beauty. Hope you have a great holiday weekend and some fun on the boat. Thank-you for your lovely blog.

Waving my flag as I type, Mary. Another beautiful patriotic tribute. The hydrangeas are glorious. Oh, to have them growing in your garden! Your potting shed is always dressed for the occasion. Fun, fun, fun!

Thank you for sharing the beauty of your patriotic potting shed. Hope you, your hubby and the girls are enjoying being on the boat before the rain from Tropical Storm Bonnie comes ashore.

Your basket is just beautiful! Fingers crossed that my hydrangeas will be full of blooms this year as they are on of my favorites. Everything looks really pretty in your potting shed. I would spend hours there.

Mary, your potting shed dressed in red, white, and blue is the perfect setting for Memorial Day and the freedoms that have been fought and died for! Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day! Pam @ Everyday Living

This post has made my day, Mary! Love the hydrangeas and flags!!!

Too much fun—-I’m not decorating anywhere as the house is so ripped up—we are stopped, by a combo of weather and lack of space to work at this point, and being exhausted. Even gave up the weekends hosting of family parties—to not do anything. But grins on your lovely post—I so wish my hydrangeas would bloom, they get nipped by frost so bad here , they simply don’t. So pretty, sigh. Maybe next year! Love your shed, Sandi

Such a nice tribute Mary! You do our service people proud! I decorate the top of my antique Victrola with a patriotic flare. I place my husband’s service picture along with a picture of his plane, dog tags and medals, and a service picture each of my dad and two brothers. I also display my dad’s WWII formal dress blouse (jacket that goes to the hips). My husband and brothers are pleased with the tribute. Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

The door basket and of course the shed is so festive and beautiful….When I lived in Florida, I could not believe that I could pick those gorgeous Queen Anne’s Lace from the pastures of a friend…Hope you had a break in the weather to go boating…it was raining off and on all weekend here…

Nothing says summer holiday better than flying flags and hydrangeas Mary! You have the most patriotic potting shed in the USA!

You are ready for the 4th with the flowers, too, in all the right colors! Your hydrangea flowers are amazing!!!! Beautiful! Linda
