The Witch is In: DIY Halloween Wreath

The countdown to the witching hour has begun . . .Halloween is just 45 scary days away!

Time to dust off your broom, polish your shoes and buy a new hat!

I fell under the spell of this cute witch leg ribbon at Michaels, inspiring me to conjure a wreath for Halloween for the door of my Potting Shed.

You can see my Potting Shed dressed for a Happy Haunting here. . .

And all 11 pages of my Spooky Settings and Spellbinding Decorations in Better Homes and Gardens special publication, Halloween Tricks & Treats Magazine.

I picked up some fun Halloween wired edge ribbon at Michaels~ polka dotted, lace, glittered and striped~ all on clearance and 50% off now, which made me cackle with glee. <|:>)

dsc_1088-1

Make loops with your ribbon, I used black pipe cleaners, {easier for crooked witch fingers to handle than florist wire} to secure the loops and attach them to the wreath frame.

dsc_1078-1

I started with a wire wreath form that I picked up at Hobby Lobby last year that I didn’t get around to using. The roll of black mesh was also in my Halloween stash. I made loops with the mesh as a base of the wreath attaching them with the ties on the wreath.

Keep Calm and Scary On

Download the Michaels and Hobby Lobby apps to your smart phone, so you can conjure up their coupons and Keep Calm and Scary On!

I found the witch hat at Michaels, along with the witch leg ‘The Witch is In’ sign. All of their Happy Haunting Halloween decor is 40% off, time to fire up the broom and fly over!

dsc_1145-1

I cut ‘The Witch is In’ sign apart and attached them both separately to the wreath. . .

dsc_1158-1

So the legs are hanging from the bottom.

I used a little hot glue to attach the striped and polka dot pumpkins onto the wreath that I had from my Witches’ Potion Table.

dsc_1114-1

The orange glitter spiders came from Michaels at 40% off.

I added the crow to the center of the wreath but he’s not permanently attached so he can fly to the window box to perch among the gourds and pumpkins.

EEK, you are feeling witchy Mary!! I need to dust off my wreath and do a little refreshing myself- I am green with envy over your burlap witch leg ribbon, and love all the elements you have woven together to create your witch’s arrival wreath! I am sliding slowly into fall, but I do love the cutesy side of Halloween and can’t wait to start going through my stash of potions… Your wreath is Bewitching! I will look for the magazine when I get back to civilization next week, Congrats-

Yes, Mary, I’m a Black Hat Society member too, with all my witches and my black hat on the dining room table! You manage to conjure up some spectacular things from your “stash” and I would love to inspect it. This wreath is just amazing and I love the window box too with all the pumpkins! Happy Halloween–it’s almost here and I don’t have my pumpkins on my porch yet! I’m feeling very inspired by your posts so I will go to the pumpkin store (also known as Terrain) today! Linda

How do you make the loops. I am a beginner in crafting

    • October 24, 2017 at 1:44 pm

Search on YouTube for “how to make a bow”. You can see how to make a loop.

Every one of your ideas is fantastic. You have motivated me to get out my stuff and make something! Thank you. My favorite is the flying witch umbrella.
