Weekend Waterview

dsc_2035-001

I hope your weekend is just ducky!

dsc_2018-001

Our resident Mallards made a new friend recently.

A domestic Pekin duck. . .

dsc_2026-001

They’re unable to fly, too heavy to get airborne.

dsc_2044-001

That combined with her lack of camouflage makes her a “sitting duck” on the lake.

dsc_2045-001

I breathe a sigh of relief when I see her swimming by  ;)

We’re enjoying a little boating time and some R&R this weekend. . .

dsc_8506-001

It was 90 degrees yesterday but we’re looking forward to temperatures in the 70s next week.

Here’s a beautiful sunset for you courtesy of Mother Nature. . .

We, too, are enjoying Pekin Ducks at Lake Toxaway. Our grandson thought they were great playmates. Not sure where they will winter. Always enjoy your posts. Ruth Sent from my iPhone

Thank you for sharing your beautiful “lake tour”! I am always glad to see the ducks. The Canadian Geese have taken over most of the lakes and ponds around where I live in the midwest. It is always a treat to see the ducks again.

Awesome pictures! Hope we get cooler weather soon! Enough heat already!😎🌴

Now I’m going to worry about that pretty white duck, how frustrating not to be able to fly! Is that where the phrase sitting duck actually originates? Beautiful sunset Mary, and I have water envy-I am landlocked in falling leaves this weekend, can’t wait to get back to the water and cool off. The girls look like they’re enjoying the boat ride :)

Absolutely stunning sunset pictures! I must admit I’m a bit envious. I live in the mountains so most of my sunsets are blocked by tall trees. The photo of your fur-baby is definitely frame-worthy!

What a gorgeous sunset. Thanks for sharing. We had a cold front move in. We had rain…FINALLY… and when the clouds parted last evening we had SNOW in the mountains. It’s supposed to be a beautiful week though with temps in the upper 70’s and low 80’s! Happy Fall!

Beautiful sunset. Nice to see the Pekin duck found her people but I hope someone contacts animal rescue..she will no survive when the temps drop and food is scarce….I understand you sigh of relief when you spot her each day.

That is a beautiful sunset picture! We have a pontoon at our cottage & we like to take it out at sunrise & sunset. It’s pretty & peaceful then. It’s been hot & humid in Chicagoland. It’s supposed to be in the 80s today & stormy. Tomorrow only in the 60s. I think today might be the last of the 80s for this year. It’s always funny how 50s & 60s seem so cold now. In a few months 50 & 60 would seem like a heatwave!
Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures! And the cute puppy ones!!!

We are having our first 90 degree days since a bad week back the spring. I hope the heat doesn’t stay. Thanks for sharing such beautiful lake pictures.

  20. September 25, 2016 at 1:45 pm

That sunset is stunning! I’m so happy to see 70 degree temps, now if only the humidity would come down from 100%. Have a great day!

Ahhhh, that is what your pictures today make me do, sigh! We could sure use a break from the 90’s here in central Florida. Your dear little white duck, I didn’t know there were ducks that couldn’t fly. I hope she takes care of herself and is always there to say hello, or quack!

  24. September 25, 2016 at 3:06 pm

    Charming… Simply charming!

Yes I would have to agree……please try to find someone to take the duck before it gets cold. If it can’t fly south then it won’t make it with the cold water and no food. It will be all alone after the other ducks fly to warmer weather.

Thank you for sharing the picture of a beautiful sunset on the lake. Chloe and Gracie are just precious!! Hopefully animal rescue will capture the duck and take it somewhere safe.
