Fall is my favorite season with its quintessential pumpkins and foliage, sweater weather with warm plaid layers, and cozy meals with the flavors of fall on the menu!

In celebration, I’m at the table with golden pumpkins as part of an Autumn Tablescape Blog Hop. You can find more fall inspiration and autumn tables from this talented group of bloggers at the end of this post.

September is slipping away with October on the horizon, but it still feel like summer in North Carolina. I’m anxiously waiting for the leaves to put on their autumnal show around the end of October, peaking in November.

While we’re still waiting for some crisp fall air, the waning humidity makes for more comfortable alfresco dining.

I set this fall table to reflect our September weather, when Autumn’s light is softer and colors are beginning to take on a warmer burnished hues with a golden glow from the sun, lower in the horizon.

A fringed plaid throw, in shades of wheat and white, provides a soft and warm foundation for the table, layered over a matelassé coverlet for a tablecloth.

Napkins are layered, a fringed herringbone pattern, paired with a woven gold metallic check.

A white cake plate provides a pedestal to elevate a golden leaf pumpkin and pillar holder for a simple centerpiece for the table.

Cameo Gold Flatware by Mikasa brings some additional golden accents to the table.

Amber goblets with graceful shape and hour glass stems provide some welcome harvest gold for an autumn table.

And a pair of golden pumpkins in the form of amber luster leaf votive holders join the table.

That’s an elegant fall tablescape. Usually you don’t think of muted colors for fall, but it works and it’s a refreshing change.

Mary, I have been eagerly awaiting your Tablescape and it was worth the wait. The view is beautiful and is the perfect backdrop for this perfect table. The plates I am swooning over with the gold detailing and the gold-leaf pumpkin centerpiece sets such an elegant mood along with the golden stemware! You never disappoint with your tablesettings, I love to savor every detail! Pam @ Everyday Living

An Autumn table of sheer beauty and perfection!…I love the beautiful shades of gold complimented by that oh so pretty throw. The use of the metallics on the table from that wonderful gold leaf pumpkin to the gorgeous flatware! I love that flatware!….I have made a note of the name of it and off to find it!…You always make my day when you take us along in that beautiful setting by the lake. Happy Fall Mary!

Love your table setting! You have the talent to put it all together.

  11. September 28, 2016 at 8:10 am

In my mind, this tablescape setting conjures up Sting’s song, “Fields of Gold”. Really beautifully coordinated, Mary. From the plate stack set askew (love that!) to the centerpiece, and everything in between, you always come up with unique presentations. “…in the days still left we’ll walk in fields of gold…..”

  12. September 28, 2016 at 8:23 am

Your softer side of Fall tablescape is so soothing, Mary. The throw adds the perfect coziness and the simple centerpiece is perfect with those gorgeous dishes and goblets. I may have to make a trip to Pier 1 to look for those darling tea light holders. Thanks for always sharing your sources with us. I know you’re enjoying Autumn by your lake!

Mary, what a beautiful and elegant Fall Tablescape! I look forward each week to your beautiful tablescapes, and I was so excited to see that you were a part of our Fall Tablescape Blog Hop! The color palette that you chose of creams and golds is simply not only pretty but elegant. I love how you used the fringe throw as a table topper, and the gold pumpkin centerpiece adds the perfect finishing touch! Happy Fall, and I hope that you have a wonderful day!!!

  14. September 28, 2016 at 8:30 am

Mary, your table is just gorgeous! It is so interesting how we both interpreted gold. The gold leaf pumpkin is a perfect centerpiece to coordinate with those gorgeous gold and white dishes! Your dishes are a perfect expression of Fall! I was just discussing the light this Fall and how it is a kinder light than that of Summer! Thank you so very much for being a part of this tablescape blog hop!

I could dine on crackers and cheese at this table, the food is not important with such a splendid table. The metallics/white/amber makes this tablescape. I am so glad today started with you. I even called my husband over to my laptop to take a look. You have such a talent for this, with or without the lake view. I just may have to get out the china, good flatware, cloth napkins as a surprise tonight. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful table setting. Love the plates. Soft, muted colors that bring Fall to your table.

  17. September 28, 2016 at 8:41 am

What a perfect table for late September Mary, the gold trimmed pumpkin plates and accessories are just stunning! The soft plaid throw on the table top keeps the elegant dishes and flatware from being too serious in this glorious lakeside setting…Mother Nature certainly cooperated with your setting, bathing your table in perfect golden fall light…gorgeous!

Beautiful! I love the plaid throw which gives such a inviting country feel mixed with the shiny formal feel of your dinnerware and pumpkin centerpiece. What a lovely setting to have such a gorgeous table. Your tablescapes always amaze me and I look forward and enjoy them immensely. I also enjoy your settings in the pot shed as well. This tablescape is certainly a fall beauty.

  19. September 28, 2016 at 9:22 am

Mary, Thank you for a beautiful setting. I love that buffalo check throw as a overlay on the table. What a gorgeous setting for you table looking out at the water. And that gold leaf centerpiece is amazing. Would you share where the plaid throw comes from? Love the simplicity of your table, but it has huge impact. Happy to be introduced to you. Please share at Your Inspired Designs on Thursday.

What a beautiful table! I love the soft tans and golds – but the best part to me is the centerpiece. That leaf covered pumpkin candle-cover is stunning. Thanks for sharing this. (I see a trip to Home Good in my future! It’s a 2 hour drive but it’s about time to do it.)

Soft and warm are the perfect words to describe this table. Then there is that lovely view of the lake that is just breathtaking. I love that you used a plain throw as an overlay, it is one of my favorite patterns and I can’t get enough.
