Beautiful photos, the maple leaves are gorgeous. Praying that the wild fires are extinguished quickly, before any damage occurs. Thank-you for sharing. Rain dance in progress, my 2 1/2 yr. old Grandson is a terrific dancer!
We’re suffering from a stage 4 drought with no rain in sight. Fortunately no fires yet, but we can’t even burn a fire in our patio fireplace now. Lake Martin is very low, too. I guess this is a time for you to stay inside and enjoy your beautiful home. I hope they get the fires under control soon, Mary!
I have a friend at Lake Lure. Luckily, she did not have to evacuate her just completed, newly built home on the mountain for the fires. She lives on the east side. It was noted their fire started with a cigarette.:(
Cold and rainy, windy here today. BRRR!
Cold, blustery, snowy day here in southwestern lower Michigan. The wind chill is in the 20’s and later this afternoon the wind will pick up with 45-50 mph gusts. My Tri-color Beech and red Dogwood are still hanging on to their leaves, all the Maple leaves have fallen. To all who are close to the wild fires be safe.
Mary, I’m so sorry to hear this news about North Carolina. Our forest fire alert is at “moderate” today with cool temps and sunny skies. I hope the rains will come pelting down soon in your area and your air clears up and your lake fills up! Linda
This drought is really something…just got a prayer round-table request for rain in Tennessee…they are really suffering. We are so fortunate this year that we were “right on the cusp” of showers all summer. Maybe snow??!!?? franki
Mary, I’ve been very concerned about you and the state of NC. I’m following the news daily. I pray for rain and that the fires are soon contained. Such a dangerous condition. We lived though this a few summers ago, but it is always a possibility. We need rain too.
Beautiful November here this weekend with crisp temps and bright blue sky. I’m planting the urns for the winter months. Finally white cyclamen were available. I bought two flats yesterday and heading back today in hopes there are still some available.
Hoping that you are out of harms way. It is very sad to see these fires and land distractions. Our prayers are with all and hope you have a good Thanksgiving.🙏🏻🦃
Hoping everywhere that needs rain will be blessed with some soon. Praying the wildfires will be contained. As always thank you for sharing your pictures.
Thank you for the beautiful fall photos….many are already onto Christmas but I am hanging onto fall and Thanksgiving until Friday. Sending hopes for rain to come your way. Here in Arizona we struggle with drought and forest fires and we certainly don’t wish that on anyone….Love your blog. Happiest of Thanksgivings.
Mary, my young niece’s husband is one of the firefighters. They are working long shifts. He normally works in Charlotte but has been assigned to this mission. I have been wrapped up with hurricane stuff in addition to other things and rarely watch the news, but when she told me about this today (he was driving a water truck on his shift), I came by to be sure you were okay. Prayers for everyone’s safety! xo
Mary, praying for rain for you all and continued safety. Crazy weather, yesterday 60+ here yesterday in SE MI – which really is CRAZY for MI in November, and today 30’s rainy ,sleet to snow flurries and strong cold winds. I really like yesterday’s weather much better ha! God bless you – we’re thankful for you and your blog!
bless your hearts…our daughter has a lake house on Possum Kingdom, in Texas and a couple yrs ago, the lake was so low, their boat docks were just standing on dirt…then, rains came and filled the lake back to normal or near normal…it will be the same for you, I just know. Your photos are still very pretty.
I heard on the news they think the fires were set by someone? I’ll never understand what people are thinking… My fingers are crossed that you see some rain soon Mary, Happy Thanksgiving Week:@)
I have been reading about your fires, awful Mary. Birmingham is under severe drought conditions too, with our lake reservoir down to 25%, no watering allowed and bushes are dying. You managed to make your lake look beautiful even in times of drought. I know the whole south would be very grateful for a rainy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for your beautiful lake pictures–your trees are so brilliant!! Sorry to hear about the wildfires and hope you have rain soon. May you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
It is so sad to see your lake so low. I hope that NC will soon get rain or snow to help to replenish the water supply and to put out those terrible fires. We have a lake place in VA and our levels are down slightly. Seeing your pictures makes me thankful for plenty of water in the lake and no fires. It is terribly dry in our area and we could use some rain.
The leaves look lovely despite the lack of water. I am so sorry that you are suffering with the lack of rain. It seems from news reports that some of the fires have been set purposely, so sad. May you and your dear lake and surrounding area be blessed with rain soon.
I can’t believe we get that haze this far away, too. I sure hope they get those fires under control soon, but the wind certainly won’t help.
Great pics…lake looks like glass this time of year!!! We are cold, blustery, kind if snowy today!!! 🌬🌨🌧☂️💦

~ Mary ~ Thank you for my morning fix, blessings on this beautiful day!

Thanks for the pretty pictures. I live in western NC where the air has been thick with smoke and haze for weeks. We need rain!
Sounds like summers in Montana. I am sorry you are dealing with this. I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving and I will send prayers your way.
We finally got “some” rain yesterday and a beautiful rainbow. Snow flurries today..brrr. I hope you get some rain very soon to help stop the fires.
Dancing a rain dance for NC

Thanks for posting about the fires in Lake Lure. A close friend has a home there and they are sick with worry.
