Happy Friday!
I’m puttering around and gathering greenery to deck the halls this week.
We had some much-needed rain last weekend, so I’m a little further behind than I’d like to be, but I was glad to see the rain!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the Potting Shed. I spent some time this week sprucing up the window boxes.
I cut back the spent annuals and gave the dirt in the boxes a thorough soaking. I added the greenery using the soil to anchor the stems to hold them in place and keep them fresh longer.
I did the same with a pair of pots to flank the bench.
Cedar, cypress, pine and magnolia fill the window boxes along with some giant pine cones I found at Hobby Lobby.
And I added some rusty bell garland to spill over and jingle its way through the greenery next to some tartan ribbon.
An embroidered pillow from Pottery Barn several years ago came out to roost on my bench. . .
My Frog Footman is serving up shatterproof red ornaments and pine cones, instead of tarts or birdseed. . .
And dressed in a tartan bow for Christmas.
I found miniature trees in the outdoor garden area at Walmart for $9. They have a little silver glitter for some holiday sparkle for the holiday season.
I removed them from the outer pots they came in and placed them in some long tom terra cotta pots.
Wellies are decorated with greenery, privet berries and a bird’s nest. . .
And the temperature is plunging this weekend, I need to fill up the bird feeders!

Oh my those window boxes are beyond stunning. Perfect in every way! Glad to hear about your well deserved rain. We had rain here in Florida for the first time in six weeks. Welcomed but my outdoor Christmas lights shorted out for awhile. Happy weekend decorating.🌲🌲🌲🌲

You were smart to BUY the big pinecones…I almost asphixiated myself, baking some in a low temp oven to get them to open up (&kill bugs). The smell of turpentine was overwhelming!!!

I just love this. If we had more moderate climate, I’d definitely be decking my outdoors more (maybe it’s a good thing we don’t – less pressure). I do love magnolia in any arrangement and those boxes look great, especially with the plaid ribbon.Last year I made a market basket arrangement for indoors, but it really needed to be in the sunroom or outside. I still haven’t tackled it, but you inspire me. There’s still time! Happy weekend, Mary.

Those window boxes are decorated so beautiful!! I love everything you decorate at The Potting Shed! Prince Frog is adorable. My window boxes are decorated at My Potting Shed but don’t look as pretty as yours. I used snowmen, snowflakes, and snowballs in mine. Stay warm, we are suppose to be 24degrees tonight.

I am always so inspired by your posts. A potting shed for gardening and decorating is one of my dreams. I’m right down the road in Charlotte, and love the connection. Wish I had a good source for cypress and cedar….is yours from your yard, the nearby fields and woods?

It is all wonderful. I wish I could do more outside but our weather is not cooperating. It is FREEZING cold here, very windy too. Thank goodness, I have finished decorating. I am on the house tour again this year so am trying to make it all pretty! Have a beautiful weekend, Mary!

Oh, so pretty! Love it all, especially the rusty bells and the tartan ribbon weaving through the greenery. I’m way behind due to my husband’s hospital stay, but hopefully tomorrow, the Thanksgiving items will be put away and out comes Christmas and winter! I’m settling in for a “long winter’s nap” – the forecast is calling for 6 -8 maybe 10″ of snow tonight! Hello Winter!
We have the snow dump forecast also—–we did do a few lights outside a week ago—but this year, it is reeled back for sure. Hoping to have the porch ready after it’s shoveled. Your shed is gorgeous…and the greens are so varied and well, green. Beautiful! Merry Christmas! Sandi
