With Valentine’s Day around the corner, I’m joining group of talented bloggers for a Romantic Table for Two Blog Hop!

I’ve been doing a little nesting this month and set a cozy table for two by our Winter Nesting Tree.
I always feel a little blue after Christmas and miss the soft glow of the lights after the tree comes down. This year I decided to decorate the tree for winter to brighten the gray and dreary days of January, enjoying the twinkling lights, along with some sparkly snowflakes, silver frosted branches and nesting birds. My husband’s grandmother’s Crown Ducal Bristol pink transferware, has birds in flight along with flowers, ideal for a little winter nesting and a cozy, romantic table for two!
A bird-topped tiered server provides an edible centerpiece, filled with grapes, strawberries, cheese and crackers. . .
Cheese cut in heart shapes with cookie cutters add a little romance, while frilly carnations add a floral accent, tucked in among the fruit.
Beaded pewter finish chargers add soft silver accents along with gray damask napkins, to pair with the burnished silver details on flatware.
Flickering candlelight is provided by mercury glass votives to add a soft and shimmery glow to the table . . .
It’s not a romantic celebration without some bubbles!
A pair of tall champagne flutes add a little height and elegance to the table.
Rosé sparkling wine is chilling with pretty flower and rose petal ice cubes for decoration . . .
And scattered rose petals are strewn on the table for some additional romance.
These floral rose petal ice cubes are an easy way to add some romance to your wine / champagne chiller! To make decorative floral ice cubes, add a thin layer of water in the bottom of your ice trays. Top with a rose or flower petal(s) and freeze. When frozen, add more water, and top with another flower or petals if desired. Return to freezer.
For clearer ice cubes, use distilled water that has been boiled and then cooled. This will reduce impurities and air bubbles that can make ice appear cloudy.
If you want to add floral ice cubes to your beverage or cocktail, use only edible flowers that are organically grown (free of pesticides or chemicals).

Hi Emily, I replied to your question on my last post, maybe my reponse ended up in your spam folder? The handle of the flatware was thin enough to fit between the spikes of the flower frog, it was just lucky :)

I adore the ice cube idea! Funny how your mind will come up with an idea but you aren’t able to take it to the next level without a suggestion. I have often enjoyed some fresh mint from my herb garden in ice cubes for iced tea in the spring and summer. There were beautiful rose bushes nearby, and it never dawned on me to use them. Thank you for the inspiration!
You are truly an artist. I love the valentines tablescape. Can we see a picture from back a little as if we walked into the room and saw the entire table. It would help me greatly to use your ideas for my table. I have collected red plates for years. They don’t match but they still look great together.

How fortunate to own such a beautiful heirloom from your husband’s grandmother. I love the idea of rose petal ice cubes. I have seen something similar on Pinterest and now that I see the idea being put to use, I am definitely giving it a try. I particularly love your edible centerpiece. Everything works together perfectly.
