It’s that time of year when I need a little flower therapy for the winter blues.
Although flower therapy seems to help the blues anytime of year!
$4 bundles of flowers from the grocery store to the rescue. . .
Peach colored spray roses. . .
Big hydrangea blooms. . .
Old fashioned stock. . .
Alstroemeria. . .
And frilly lavender carnations.
All served up in blue transferware.
Transferware pieces picked up at antique malls and consignment stores have some crazing, showing signs wear and age. . .
Gravy boats are chipped. . .
And tureens and sugar bowls are missing lids. . .
But perfectly imperfect to serve up flowers.

What a beautiful bright display, perfect for these cool Winter days and the wintery blues, when we are all ready for some greenery and some color!
I do much the same to beat the winter blues, Mary, buying and arranging bouquets. I must say, though, that overall tableau is drop-dead gorgeous with the flower arrangements in the blue transferware against the window. Enjoy!

Fresh flowers make everything better! I just love the two tiers of roses in the blue transferware tureen and pitcher Mary, and nothing looks chipped to me! The light is magical, with the vignette in front of the leaded glass window. Photographing is tricky on dark and dreary winter days, your post is a welcome breath of spring!

Mary, I’m deep into the winter blues right now too, but your beautiful arrangement is giving me a boost and some inspiration. My best recipe for helping beat the blues on these dark days is some serious outdoor time, with real sunshine on me, breathing the fresh air. I think today I need to bundle up, take a walk, and stop by a shop for some pretty flowers like yours! Linda

I sure wish our grocery carried such beautiful flowers. I am taking a trip to Trader Joe’s tomorrow so will definitely get some fleurs!!:) I am purging some of my “stuff” this winter. I made myself a rule: anything that we have not used since we moved here (4 years now!!!!), is going. I have to get our storage areas uncluttered!!! Have a beautiful weekend!!!

Very pretty Mary. Since winter is so L O N G here in MI we usually dig in and do deep cleaning projects and then have a great movie night with friends and a favorite soup. I also love to look through gardening books and dream of warmer days to come. The flowers are lovely in the old china. I love all soup tureens!

Mary, This is a wonderful site, I also love old dishes and have a few from family members long gone. It is always a treasure to fill them with flowers and just enjoy especially on a cold Winter day. Next trip shopping will certainly include a bouquet of colorful flowers for my pink glass pitcher. Loved the bird houses, feeders, what a wonderful idea and I plan to add a couple to my yard. Thank you for all the inspirations for my home and yard.

This post is very timely! Yesterday we went to a horse show, and the high temperature was supposed to have been in the upper fifties with partly sunny skies. Instead, we had highs in the mid-forties, overcast skies and the wind chill had to be much lower because it was gusty. No one was dressed appropriately….we were all freezing! We had Mustang Sally with us, and I made her be my lapdog.
Your post is so pretty, Mary. I love all the flowers in your cute little potting shed, and the blue and white transfer ware are the perfect vessels to show them off. I might need to make that tart for Valentine’s Day! Yummy!
