Potting Shed: Tabletop Gardening with Bunnies and Spring Bulbs

I have a case of spring and bunny fever with our 70 degree temperatures. . .

And I’m ready for some garden time, flowers, eggs and bunnies, with Easter on its way!

Mother Nature is unpredictable and our frost date is April 15th, so I’m biding my time and satisfying my craving for flowers with a little tabletop gardening!

My garden of gloves is growing and a new pair holds a napkin and flatware for a garden table setting in the Potting Shed.

I’m always on the look out for a blooming fork, knife, or spoon to add to bouquet vintage flatware, especially when I can pick one up for a dollar or two at an antique mall or consignment store.

The small pots of daffodils and hyacinths were $1 at Walmart, a lot of flower power for the buck and can be planted in the garden after the blooms fade to enjoy next year.

I transferred the bulbs to terra cotta pots, topped them with some green moss and added a blooming vintage fork and faux speckled eggs.

A 18 x 48″ moss table runner from Hobby Lobby is layered over a  jute runner on the countertop. If you download their mobile app, you can have a 40% off coupon at your gardening glove fingertips. ;)

A bunny is blooming with a mini pot of daffodils and eggs.

A gardening tool set is blooming with Morning Glories. . .

And bunny salad plates from HomeGoods are wearing flowers.

Help yourself to some Blooming Bunny Ear Cupcakes, here. A sweet treat for Easter or to hop over on your spring dessert table!

What you do with a dollar blooming spring bulb from Walmart is just amazing! I’m going today to see if my Walmart has the same flowers. Thanks for the inspiration.

Beautiful a usual…love the bunnies and flowers. No spring flowers at our Wal-Mart yet, maybe closer to Easter since we still are cold.

Very sweet, and my favorite place, your garden shed. LOL, still not Spring here even a little bit, except forsythia, which waffles between blooming and freezing, Sandi

Oh Mary, your potting shed is just bursting with happiness from the bunnies and the blossoms. You must be in a state of joy when you’re working in there. Cissy spent the night with me on Saturday and she wanted to see what I ordered from Amazon. We will so enjoy using the decorating tips. Nana and Cissy’s Bakery will be having fun!!

I agree with Sandi above….my favorite place to visit your Potting Shed! Everything just so pretty. I adore bunnies even though the live ones eat my flowers. Those pastel plates I would love to find, just too cute! I have been playing in my Potting Shed because like you said got to wait past frost date. My husband ran me out of the detached garage yesterday when I mentioned I might decorate it also….LOL

I absolutely love the idea of the garden glove as a utensil holder. How charmed would your gardening friends be if you had them over for lunch and had an adorable set of gloves for a take home gift. You are so creative!

ok…now I have to go to walmart…what a deal! I saw those cute garden tools on Mackenzie Childs, (where I was ordering courtly check salad plates) The morning glories are pretty, I grow them on the fence every year in bright blue mixed with a dark raspberry. As per usual an awesome setting!

  23. March 27, 2017 at 8:40 pm

Well, I will have to check my Walmart again as I haven’t seen ANY spring plants at all! For a dollar a piece I will be able to fill my cart!!!! Then fill my flower beds!!! I have hyacinths coming up and want to have alot more. My tete a tetes got covered in snow…. This table is fabulous, just blooming with happiness! I love it all!

You found even more cute bunny plates! It’s so much fun to see you play with tabletop and gardening themes combined. I’m in love with those long gardening gloves. I will head to Hobby Lobby this week. ;-)
Shopping Round Top today and tomorrow, and I think of you at almost every turn. You would love this venue!
Cute mini plants. I’ll stop by Walmart and see if any are available here.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about this tablescape. You got such a deal on the hyacinths and daffodils at Walmart! I love the idea of the gardening gloves with the forks inserted. This would be a great way to give the gloves as favors to your guests at a springtime luncheon. So much prettiness! Thanks for sharing.

Such a creative and Spring like table. Particularly love the use of real flowers! Not being a gardener myself, perhaps you could answer a few questions for me as am wondering do you recommend pre-chilled bulbs and does one still have to force process them in a cold temperature? i.e.: Store them in a fridge. Reason for asking; as my daughter is leader of a Brownie pack (ages 7 to 9) I am wondering if it could be a project for them to do? Of course it would be for next year but I am thinking they could also personalize their containers and IF timed correctly, perhaps the bulbs would be in bloom for Easter and they could gift them to someone special. Any input you have about the process would be greatly appreciated as even with the wildest stretch of the imagination, I do ‘not’ have a green thumb … . Thank you!

P.S.: For those interested in herbs; I just noticed the other day in one of our discount $-Stores that they do have pre-packaged kits for growing them indoors. The variety was quite wide in choice and though I do live in Canada in all probability they carry them in the States.
