It’s hard to believe it’s the last week in April! Where did the month go?
I couldn’t resist a little tabletop fun with bunnies before they hop away with May’s arrival. . .
Floral bunny salad plates were on sale at Pottery Barn after Easter. I was happy to find three of the four designs still available for a little spring table fun.
They’re joining terra cotta pots, flowers, a watering can, bird’s nest and birdhouse for a garden table in the Potting Shed.
A jute runner provides a foundation for a mossy runner for a little woodland garden landscape on the countertop.
Beaded burlap bunny ear napkin rings marry a pair of napkins, a bunny paired with a green and white check.
A French inspired botanical garden plaque, Le Jardin Botanique, is with flowering with bulbs, butterflies, dragonflies and bunny. It’s a companion to the Jardin de Legumes that provided some a bunny and veggie inspiration last spring.
I picked up a copy of The Nature Notes of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden from a used book seller a couple of months ago. Beautifully illustrated, her “nature notes” from 1905 chronicle months of the calendar year with anecdotes, folklore, and poems, and are accompanied by her watercolor paintings of flowers, plants, birds, butterflies and landscape scenes of the British countryside.
Both Edith Holden’s Nature Notes and The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady are a treat to peruse if you enjoy nature and gardening.
I cut some flowers and greenery from the garden to fill some long tom terra cotta pots as vases. . .some purple spikes of Veronica, Lenten rose, fern, lamb’s ear, and penstemon. We spend most of Saturday working and planting shrubs and flowers around the Potting Shed so they could get a thorough soaking from our rain on Sunday and today.
Mismatched vintage flatware is tied with a jute ribbon and twiggy woven mats provide some woodland texture.

Love my bunnies so much. Hate to pack them away but do use some stone ones out in the garden. Maybe they will keep the live ones our of my veggie garden! Today is rainy and gray so a good day to switch some things out and look forward to the flowers of May.

I don’t think bunnies have a season Mary, they are welcome all year round! I can see why you were tempted by the adorable bunny plates and accessories, they are perfect hopping around your potting shed and frolicking with your gardening things. The book looks like a treasure, imagine how surprised she would be to know her notebook had brought joy to others over 100 years later!

Now, if I could get the real bunnies in my yard to hop away with May, it’d be ideal for me. They’re cute, but boy, do they wreak havoc in a landscape Mine must feel totally safe too, since my yard is completely fenced with brick, other than the gates (just big enough for them to get through the rails). Just beautiful! I have been working in my potting shed. I love bunnies and my sunroom has quite a few for its theme year round. I just wished the live bunnies would not eat all my flowers I plant!
Mary, I would savor these darling bunnies as long as possible. That’s what I’m dong here. The bunnies are still out and enjoying a beautiful spring here in Austin. I recently brought my boxes of cabbage leaf dishes back home from the storage unit. I would look at your darling tables and long for my own pretty green cabbage leaf dishes. They are so perfect for this time of year. I’m pinning several of your shots for inspiration. Love the way you style your tables.

This is SO delightful! I put almost all of my bunnies away, some are still out for late Spring and then Summer as we have bunnies outside. I just sighed at the second picture. You have such a perfect spot to do these tables. You photos are always gorgeous too. I LOVE all your bunnies, especially the pair that looks like colored stone.

I discovered the wonderful Edith Holden book years ago. I was so intrigued by her that I did some research and found another book about her life. It’s called, “The Edwardian Lady, the story of Edith Holden by Ina Taylor. You too might find it interesting. She unfortunately had a rather shocking death. Lovely bunny post!

Yes, where has April gone?! So glad you were able to get those adorable bunny plates on sale..they actually sold out of them in “my” store last year…I think I got the last set! The bunnies are just so comfortable being in your potting shed away from the peril of Mr. MacGregor. What more can they ask for than to be in that beautiful place! I am waiting for the rain to stop!!
I don’t want to put the bunnies away either~ I think they may have to stay out for a while yet. Very pretty post Mary. We are to have sunshine this week and I’m happy about that, more yard and shed time! Nothings better, unless it’s beach time! ha

What a beautiful post, Mary! I love your new PB bunny plates and those bunny napkins made me sigh. Elizabeth Holden’s book has such sweet illustrations, doesn’t it? Thanks for sharing the bunny beauty during this last (hard to believe!) week of April! I still have my bunny decor up, but I guess I need to think about changing it out soon.

This is just darling! I am chomping at the bits to get into my little ‘hilltop’ cottage. Just built last year and I am having so much fun with it. Love the botanical and that book is fabulous! I have the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, but now I think I need this one too! :) Your shed is full of so many pretties. What a fun place to dine!!

I love all of your bunnies, also your beautiful photos of flowers and pollinators. I don’t think I have a favorite flower, I love so many of them. My sisters, though, once identified my home (they hadn’t seen it before) by the hollyhocks I had planted, because I always have some. Old-fashioned flowers attract so many bees. Their hum as they move from flower to flower, pollinating, is one of my favorite sounds. Sadly, we’ve had very few here the past couple of summers. Crop dusting outside of town, and fogging for mosquitos inside of town, take their toll. When are we going to wise up to the damage our pesticides are doing to our world? Lois
Rsbbit statuaires grace my garden and I love to see them tuck under the hydrangea and host as. My favorites are the older ones with the lovely patina that only Mother Nature can provide.
Mary, I always love your tables as you must know by now but this one is just making me so happy with the sweet bunnies and the collection of garden bits! I have never read the Holden books but now I am fascinated and I must explore further! Your yard flowers are gorgeous and I’m inspired to add some Lenten Rose to my garden. I know it will grow up here. Spring has finally arrived for us and my yard is filled with daffodils, the tulips about to open and the trees just beginning to leaf.
