A Red, White, and Blue Ridge Getaway

We escaped to North Carolina’s High Country with friends for a Red, White & Blue Ridge Getaway over the 4th of July.

Enjoying the scenery and beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Have a seat and drink in the scenery. . .

Drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. . .

Breathe in the fresh mountain air. . .

Celebrate the Red Wine and Blue at Grandfather Vineyard and Winery

Take a hike or walk along the many trails. . .

Admire the waves of fern fronds and rhododendron blooms. . .

Watch the clouds drift along the mountains. . .

Visit the charming town of Blowing Rock and walk along Main Street. . .

Sit on the porch and admire the view . . .

Watch the sunset.

Edit and Update: The mountain house with the large flag hanging vertically was across the street from us during our stay. A reader pointed out the flag was hung incorrectly. This would be an easy mistake to make, leaning over a second floor balcony to hang the flag.

“When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag’s own right, that is, to the observer’s left. When displayed in a window, the American flag should be displayed in the same way, with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street.”
