Easy DIY Fall Harvest Arrangement

Fall is my favorite season and I’ve been counting down the days since July! Despite our 90 degree temperatures this week, I’m in an autumn harvest state of mind with thoughts of fall apples, leaves and pumpkins.

I found a galvanized bucket at T. J. Maxx several weeks ago. I love all things galvanized and I envisioned using it on the porch or for a Fall Harvest Around the Potting Shed.

I gathered goldenrod that’s growing in the field next to my Potting Shed and just starting to pop up along the roadsides now, along with some leaves that were just starting to turn.

Clippings from the loropetalum shrubs and purple leaf plum tree add a bright pop of crimson-purple foliage.

Limelight hydrangeas have taken on a burnished hue and made the transition from summer to fall, ready to dry.

The stems are weighted down and heavy with flowers, weary from a long summer. . .

Just like me. ;)

I’m happy to see pumpkins starting to arrive at the garden centers. I add a few to arrange around a grapevine wreath, framing the bucket.

I cut some branches of wild persimmons that I found when I was foraging for leaves to add to the mix.

This is a quick and easy way to add a little bit fall around your home! Keep your mix of foliage and flowers loose and easy for a casual arrangement. You could use any kind of vase, bucket or even a wine chiller. The grapevine wreath adds some texture and place for other elements to build around.

Even though fall arrives on Friday, Mother Nature has plenty of summer heat and humidity ahead for us in North Carolina. I hope you’re seeing the first signs of fall where you are!

Thank you for your visit, I’m joining:

Beautiful arrangement, Mary. I like everything about it! It’s interesting that goldenrod at one time was the state flower of Alabama. :)

I love your new galvanized bucket, Mary, and how clever of you to use the wreath under it for added interest. Your arrangement is just perfect and certainly put a smile on my face this morning. Thank you!

Thanks Jenna! The persimmons are growing on several trees on edge of some woods that I walk the dogs by every morning. I just helped myself to some of the ones that the birds and squirrels left behind 🍁🍂🐿😀

Love the new bucket! Eager to buy some pumpkins!! Leaves are really starting to turn in my neck of the woods. This week the days are in the high 70’s low 80’s, but the nights are cool. Nice to sleep with the window open and the ceiling fan on instead of air conditioning all the time.

Mary, this is Fall perfect. We also have wild persimmons growing. The temps are in the high 80’s and there isn’t much color…goldenrods are showing their color everywhere! Thanks for the gorgeous inspiration!

Beautiful, Mary. I need to trek over the riverbank and grab some goldenrod. I love the natural look of that arrangement. Few signs of fall here….leaves drying, but not a lot of color just yet.

Oh em gee…I’m swooning! Are you sure you weren’t a floral designer in a previous life? I love that this is so “do-able” providing I can find an equally wonderful container!

Mary, Your hydrangea are so huge already! This color combination of purple and gold is very regal for fall. Our temps seem to be going up and the humidity arrived, thanks to José, but I hope crispy weather will come along soon. I know it is coming because the hickory nuts have started falling on our driveway and on any cars parked there! I love your new bucket and the arrangement you created for it. Linda

What a beautiful lush fall arrangement. I particularly love the combination of the limelight hydrangeas and the plum colored loropetalum.

Mary your blog is beautiful and so many great ideas. You’ve just inspired me to visit the basement and dig out old containers and decor and start decorating for Thanksgiving. Thank you!!!
