Hello Autumn Wreath and a Wheelbarrow of Pumpkins

Hello Autumn, I’m so glad you’re here!

I hung a ‘Hello Autumn’ wreath on my Potting Shed door in welcome. . . I loved the wheelbarrow piled with pumpkins!

I buy a fresh bittersweet vine wreath from the farmers market every fall and decided to incorporate the plate for a fall garden wreath for my Potting Shed door.

The challenge was how to hang the plate since it was smaller in diameter than the center of the wreath, and it would bang against the diamond panes every time I opened the door. I have a set of woven handled placemats that I got at World Market several years ago. One of one of them has since come apart, but I keep piecing it back together since they’re no longer available when I want to use a set of four at the table.

I used a drapery pin hook that was easily pushed in without damaging the placemat to hold the plate hanger.

The mat was the perfect length to hang underneath the wreath and provide a little texture to blend with the bittersweet wreath. A little fall plaid ribbon and an orange vintage trowel adds some decorative fall garden detail!

Sometimes it pays to hoard your broken placemats. ;)

My wheelbarrow got a makeover and fresh coat of red paint this summer.

She’s piled with pumpkins to welcome autumn! The cut out tulip detail on the wheelbarrow match tulips on a decorative iron piece that sits along the front of the porch of the shed = a little garden serendipity!

I found this Gardener’s Potting Shed Sign at Antique Farm House about a month ago. I loved the embossed tin details and green and red color combination. It’s a new sign that looks perfectly vintage and weathered. I decided I could use it on either the front or back door of the shed or hang it inside when the mood strikes.

Summer annuals are still blooming in our 80+ degree temperatures although looking leggy and tired. I gave this plumbago a drench of liquid ‘bloom booster’ fertilizer to perk it up. I should enjoy another flush of blue flowers in about a week to 10 days.

Tricolor mums help make the transition from summer to fall, blending the colors of seasons.

Endless summer hydrangeas are still blooming and summer seems endless with weekend temperatures pushing 90 degrees with more of the same expected this week.

Love the bittersweet wreath. I don’t find it here often. Maybe we are too far south so have to settle for Michaels version!! It just says fall with all its orange and yellow glory. Love how you added the trowel and plate.

Well, if those (the placemat, the sign) weren’t matches made in heaven and delivered to the potting shed here on earth! I am coveting that wreath arrangement big time – it’s amazing with so much great texture combined. A knockout view!

My gosh but you’re innovative! Love the bittersweet wreath. It’s beginning to look like fall here in Ohio. I bought pumpkins and mums yesterday. Thanks for a lovely post.

This post is beautiful! Saw the plate at Pier 1 but didn’t buy it, now I may have to go back and get one to copy your idea. Thanks so much for sharing. Enjoy the fall!

Love your potting shed and your beautiful plantings and fall wreath. My sister has a potting shed and enjoys decorating hers too. We even serve parties from there sometimes.

Oh Mary, I always love seeing your potting shed all Fallified! I picture you walking down that little path and going to your very own playhouse. Since I love dishes, your wreath is absolutely darling. What a great idea to use that woven placemat to stop the bumping. Your wheelbarrow is all perkily happy filled with pumpkins, and so is your window box. How perfect is your potting shed sign for your door??!! Thanks for the happy smiles this morning!

Using the “broken” placement is indeed a super idea! Made me think also of using one of those round wicker paper plate holders provided the size works.

    Hello, Mary!!
We just moved from Southport, NC, to Charlotte and I would love to know at which farmer’s market you purchased the honeysuckle wreath. Was it at the State Farmer’s Mkt in Raleigh or in the Charlotte area?
Thank you. What a lovely post … fall is my favorite, too!!

    • September 25, 2017 at 9:33 am

Hi Carolyn, The bittersweet vine wreath came from Josh’s Farmers Market in Mooresville. They go pretty quickly so you might want to contact them via their FB page or call if they have a phone number. 77 is a nightmare from Charlotte to exit 36 in Mooresville. 🍁

You get the prize for being the most creative (not sure what the prize is though LOL). Love the wreath and all the pumpkins. I’m trying to get ready for fall but with 90 degree temps it’s kinda hard. But we will cherish these beautiful days soon when the cold winds blow. Love your blog. Have a blessed week.

Just spent several trips to different stores, etc. looking for fake bittersweet – no one had any in our area. Hmm, maybe I’ll have to take a trip to the local farmer’s market this weekend. Love your shed!

10,10,10, all high scores Mary! What wonderful eye candy! Love the new plate, beautiful wreath and great potting shed sign. We are having 90 degree temps which are very unusual for MI this time of year, but I did manage to put out my cornstalks on the garden shed posts and bought my pumpkins. Love it! The corn stalks are lasts years, but I tucked them away in the corner of my shed and they still look fine. I will get new ones for the front porch when they are available. Happy Fall!
