Hello Autumn Wreath and a Wheelbarrow of Pumpkins

I hung a ‘Hello Autumn’ wreath on my Potting Shed door in welcome. . . I loved the wheelbarrow piled with pumpkins!

 I buy a fresh bittersweet vine wreath from the farmers market every fall and decided to incorporate the plate for a fall garden wreath for my Potting Shed door.

The challenge was how to hang the plate since it was smaller in diameter than the center of the wreath, and it would bang against the diamond panes every time I opened the door. I have a set of woven handled placemats that I got at World Market several years ago. One of one of them has since come apart, but I keep piecing it back together since they’re no longer available when I want to use a set of four at the table.

I used a drapery pin hook that was easily pushed in without damaging the placemat to hold the plate hanger.

The mat was the perfect length to hang underneath the wreath and provide a little texture to blend with the bittersweet wreath. A little fall plaid ribbon and an orange vintage trowel adds some decorative fall garden detail!

Sometimes it pays to hoard your broken placemats. ;)

My wheelbarrow got a makeover and fresh coat of red paint this summer.

She’s piled with pumpkins to welcome autumn! The cut out tulip detail on the wheelbarrow match tulips on a decorative iron piece that sits along the front of the porch of the shed = a little garden serendipity!

I found this Gardener’s Potting Shed Sign at Antique Farm House about a month ago. I loved the embossed tin details and green and red color combination. It’s a new sign that looks perfectly vintage and weathered. I decided I could use it on either the front or back door of the shed or hang it inside when the mood strikes.

Summer annuals are still blooming in our 80+ degree temperatures although looking leggy and tired. I gave this plumbago a drench of liquid ‘bloom booster’ fertilizer to perk it up. I should enjoy another flush of blue flowers in about a week to 10 days.

Tricolor mums help make the transition from summer to fall, blending the colors of seasons.

Endless summer hydrangeas are still blooming and summer seems endless with weekend temperatures pushing 90 degrees with more of the same expected this week.
