Happy Monday! I’m at the table for fall’s last hurrah, with plaid, pumpkins, and the last of the hydrangeas.
Fall is my favorite season and has been late to arrive in North Carolina this year.
I took my cue from Mother Nature, using her color palette as inspiration for a ‘fall’s last hurrah’ table.
I cut the last of the hydrangeas before they were frost-nipped over the weekend. They’re paired with mini pumpkins, nuts, leaves and votives for a casual and organic runner for the table. I love using natural elements and the interest they add to the table. This runner is easy to recreate, varying your elements to coordinate with your table or dinnerware. Keep them low enough to see over and not interfere with conversation while dining.
I blame my recent purchase of ‘new-to-me’ plates on this little transferware pitcher/creamer that I found for $4 this summer.
I found a set of four dinner plates on eBay to add to a collection of brown transferware.
Mason’s Ascot with its scalloped border and brown multicolor floral basket seemed perfectly suited for an autumn or Thanksgiving table. I loved the little butterfly detail too!
Hydrangeas, mini pumpkins, nuts, and leaves are placed down the center of the table for an easy centerpiece and natural and organic table runner. Mercury glass votives add a little sparkle and soft glow.
Arrange your elements down the center of your table. If you’re using natural leaves that will wilt, place them in a zip top bag in the refrigerator to keep them fresh and from wilting or in vases of water, and add them at the last minute. If you’re using perishable flowers or greenery, you can use floral water picks, available at the craft store, concealing them under leaves or hidden among the other elements in your runner.
Napkins are folded in cornucopia shape or Tussie Mussie with Thanksgiving on the horizon.
To make a cornucopia, start by folding napkin in half, and then half again, to make a square.
Roll your napkin into a cone shape. I added a piece of wrapping tissue inside the bottom of the cone to help it keep its shape.
Tie your napkin with decorative ribbon. I used a double-sided wire edge ribbon. Fill your cornucopia with treats for your guests or family members.
‘Tis the season for pumpkin spice, and I filled the cornucopias with Lindor Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Truffles and Pumpkin Spice Hersey’s Kisses.
Our November weather has been like a roller coaster, with daytime temperatures fluctuating from the 40s to 70s.
November’s weather is typically mild and pleasant for dining on our porch through Thanksgiving.

Delightful napkins and love the cornucopia fold. Mason’s has some of the prettiest patterns. I’m loving your natural centerpiece and those scalloped chargers! Great tip about freezing the leaves.
Wow, You have so many tablecloths! Both my tables are so wide it is hard to find tablecloths that fit.
Bonnie, I don’t think you want to freeze the leaves for fear of a sloppy mess on your tablecloth when they thaw. Just refrigerate them, as Mary suggests.

Pinned away!….The table is stunning and I gasped when I saw the Tussie Mussie/Cornucopia napkin fold! I am sad to see the leaves fall as we wind down Fall…your table certainly is a most beautiful send off to Fall.

What a cornucopia of beautiful images!!! This table is Autumn perfection! We have had a hard freeze already so the pumpkins froze and went in the trash and all the flowers are brown or dead:(:( I would have to do this in Oct. I am pinning away though for inspiration for next year! Gorgeous, Mary!

What a lovely table! We may get snow here in Michigan tomorrow. Our trees still have leaves and fall has been a roller coaster here too. Thank you for making my dreary day a little brighter.
