Christmas Nesting and a ‘Deck the Halls’ Giveaway!

DSC_3936.4-001

Happy Monday. . . I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I spent the weekend decking the halls and enjoying some Christmas nesting on the porch.

To kick off the holiday season, I’m joining 5 other bloggers for a Holiday Home Tour with Lynch Creek Farm and a wonderful giveaway to help you deck the halls and feather your nest!

We enjoy our porch 10 months out of the year and are fortunate to have mostly mild and sunny weather throughout the month of December.

To make things merry and bright on the porch, I added some blankets and books to curl up with for some cozy reading and Christmas inspiration.

Cardinal ornaments have flown in to land in a glittery nest, tucked in among pine cones in a poinsettia-filled basket. . .

And adding a seasonal and vibrant pop of red, to hang from a birdhouse.

And a cardinal-lidded teapot is ready to pour a Christmas blend!

I had a little Christmas nesting inspiration from this Wildlife Adventure Wreath from Lynch Creek Farm, complete with a cardinal perched on a noble fir bough and cheery red bird house!

Lynch Creek Farm wreaths are the freshest in the industry, with fresh evergreens procured from the forests in their backyard of the great Pacific Northwest.

Evergreens are ancient symbols of strength, protection, prosperity, and long life in the midst of winter and I love the fragrance they lend at Christmas! A combination of Noble fir, white pine, incense cedar and juniper are tied with a plaid bow, paired with pine cones, mixed with faux red berries.

A pair of pillows make for comfortable and cozy nesting, with a bird bundled in a scarf and Santa hat, ready for wintry weather.

Wildlife Centerpiece from Lynch Creek Farm, with glass hurricane and pillar candle, is flanked by two cardinals. A combination of noble fir, white pine, and Western Red, Port Orford, and incense cedar make for a fresh and fragrant centerpiece, complete with a nest, ribbon, pine cones and berry clusters. I added some eggs to the nest and placed the centerpiece on a tree slice charger for a woodland accent.

DSC_3909.1

Lynch Creek Farm is a small, family owned company, dedicated to producing sustainable evergreen products. Evergreen boughs are cultivated by trimming the lower branches of younger, coniferous trees in healthy and robustly forested areas, along the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.

DSC_3941.1

Once a tree matures to 15 – 20 years in age, it is no longer trimmed for boughs. This practice prolongs the lifespan of the woodlands, ensuring they will continue to grow and thrive for decades to come.

DSC_4083.1

I moved the centerpiece to a table to enjoy by the twinkling lights of the tree.

A tartan plaid throw provides a tablecloth with tree slice chargers, accented with bits of greenery to elevate Lenox Winter Greetings plates.

A nuthatch, chickadee, and cardinal are perched among the holiday greenery on the plates, festooned with red ribbon, holly and mistletoe.

The Country Christmas wreath suits me just fine. Love the red berries. Wildlife was a close second. Birds seem to be taking over my Christmas decorating this year. Your porch is for the birds, and that is a good thing.

  35. November 27, 2017 at 8:22 am

    Good morning Mary,
Your porch is so festive, cheerful, and inviting. What a blessing you have to enjoy it throughout the year. My choice for a wreath would be “Owl Be Home”. We live in the country and have the enjoyment of hearing owls hoot. I think they’re beautiful birds. This owl wreath with acorns and rustic colors is my cup of tea. Thank you for giving us this opportunity.

Hi Mary – your post is just gorgeous. I have to say that I am picking your same wreath – the Wildlife Adventure Wreath. My reason is sort of sad, however. We just lost my beloved mother in law a month ago and she absolutely loved cardinals, so I’m decorating with cardinals here and there this year in her honor 😔. Thank you so much for this amazing chance of a giveaway! Happy Holidays! Hugs, Dorinda

Beautiful. …thanks for the inspiration. Owl Be home love….we have watched a baby owl blossom into a beautiful mature bird. I have pictures of when he was little and have watched him or her grow over the last year and a half. He will nest in a tree outside our house and we are always watching for him. We live in a mountain community called Big Canoe located in Georgia. So I though you would enjoy the reason that I picked that wreath. Terry.

Mary…….all of the wreaths are gorgeous, but I would pick Everlasting Hope. I help to serve once a month at our local shelter called Pinellas Hope in St. Petersburg, Florida. Our church helps other area churches serve dinner to approximately 200 homeless people each day that live there in tents and small container rooms. It is a wonderful organization that is assisting them in finding jobs and regaining their lives. I would donate the wreath to them to help brighten their holiday season with HOPE for their future.

Hi Mary, if I were able to receive a wreath from Lynch Creek Farms I would pick the Blended Bouquet. I like the hint of blue from the Blue Spruce(?) branches. Every couple of years or so I switch the colors I use for Christmas decorating and this year I’m going with green, from the tree, along with silver and the think the Lynch Creek Farm wreath would coordinate well with my other decorations. Thank you for providing this give away.

I visited your blog tonight thinking you would have ideas from “your porch” and you certainly did! Being a “Carolina girl” we enjoy our porches and we use ours nearly year round! After visiting Lynch Creek Farm’s website, I would love to be able to add their beautiful “Holly Ever After” wreath, which has the red birds, (our state’s bird) to our screen door! I am partial to the cardinal and also have the Lenox “Winter Greeting” dinnerware that hasn’t made it to our dining room table yet…as I always prolong removing Thanksgiving decor because I just love all the fall colors! Never can get over your abundance of creativity…so glad you share it with us all!!

Still some fine tuning to be done. But what a lovely site you gave to us. Lynch Creek Farms! Wow! I just spent a good half hour looking and wishing. Oh the “Holy Ever After” wreath was a soft spot for me. Will be celebrating 50 yrs this Dec. 30th. The wreath is simple and says it all! But I also loved the Home Sweet Home Centerpiece and the Cape Cod. What pretty things. Would make great gifts!! Thanks to you and Lynch Creek Farms for sharing!!! And for taking me away for a good hour!!!

Mary, Thank you for introducing me to Lynch Farms. I like so many of their beautiful wreaths and centerpieces. If I had to choose just one, I think it would be Hunter’s Hollow centerpiece. As I have been shopping, I can’t help but look at certain things and think, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mary uses this in one of her tables. So, I look forward to seeing your holiday tables to see if I was right. I thank you. MM

  172. November 27, 2017 at 10:23 pm

I would feel so fortunate to have anyone of these fabulous wreaths or centerpieces. You can tell how thoughtfully they are put together by the details and artful arrangement. If I had to choose one it would be the wreath or centerpiece with the cardinals (or Redbirds, as my mother called them)in them, for cardinals remind me of my mother and we’re her favorite bird. I can’t wait to see how the other sites use LynchCreek wreaths and centerpieces. Such a treat for all of us. Thank you so much for bringing us joy and beauty into our lives.

Good morning Mary! Just returned home from our annual Thanksgiving travel and catching up on my blog reading. Your mulled wine recipe made me want to be back in Europe at the Christmas Markets sipping a delicious, hot cup of mulled wine!!! So I will have to try your crockpot recipe and fill my Christmas market mug souvenir cups with it. I collect mugs from all the European Christmas Markets that we go to each year! So I was delighted to see this recipe! The Christmas nesting that you did is so lovely. I love the cardinal theme!!! I would chose the Wildlife Adventure wreath, as I too, am decorating with cardinals on one of my mantles this year! Thanks for the recipes and decorating inspiration and the giveaway chance!!! Good to be home, can’t wait to get a cup of mulled wine and read on!!! Happy Nesting!!! ☕️

Simply beautiful Mary…I have to admit the wreath and centerpiece I would choose would be the wildlife ones you chose. There is something about red cardinals that draw me in. I have a pair that visit my Secret Garden daily and I feel them cocking their little heads as if waiting for me to appear. They fluff in the bird bath and make me smile. Your porch is so inviting and the addition of the bright red cardinals is just perfect. Merry Christmas

I would chose the Red Deluxe Wreath! They are all beautiful! Thank you Mary &
Lynch Creek Farms for the opportunity!

  213. November 28, 2017 at 9:01 pm

Loving all the cozy plaids. As someone who was into country in the 90s, after my child left for college we moved and went with a more glittery, sophisticated look at Christmas. Not me, so turned to nostalgia and retro from my own childhood. Find myself adding back in those warm plaids and birds and the smell of gingerbread. Finally a style that shouts “me! ” Nostalgic, warm and cozy. Welcoming to all.
I choose the Tis the Season wreath. I want to write “we believe” on chalkboard.

    The Mixed Holly wreath

  241. Cyndee Randall
    November 29, 2017 at 5:21 pm

I love the mixed holly wreath, but I love the others, too. This post just makes me smile. I have the Winter Greetings dishes and use them from late November into March. There is something so wonderful about greens filling a home in winter. Almost as wonderful as the birds at my feeder. In Maine, the birds, “my” squirrels, and the greens help make the long winters bearable. Blessings.
