A reindeer sleigh is filled with a mixture of evergreens, clipped from the shrubs and trees, along with a bit of red plaid ribbon and shiny red ornaments, for a centerpiece for the table.

And a table runner with reindeer, complete with plaid scarf, provided the inspiration for this merry and bright table. . .

Behind the scenes:  I set this table to enjoy this week by the tree while battling a cold and not feeling 100%.  I had to laugh when I was editing and uploading these photos and realized I forgot the glasses!

Hope you’re taking some time to join in some reindeer games and enjoy this holiday week leading up to New Years and staying healthy. ♥

Not sure how many of us noticed ‘no glasses’ because the table is as charming as any of your others. It’s nice to be able to sit back and think about the many people you have touched through your blogs…I cannot even imagine! Congratulations for stirrin’ our creative juices up this season. Have a much deserved rest and feel better soon.:)

Again, love the plaid…yes, we are enjoying our tree and Christmas decor before I get the itch to take it down!! New lights on the tree this year really made it shine..I got rid of the prelit lights on the prelit tree & put on 1400 white lights..I think I can leave them on for a couple years before replacing..I always had multi colored but I really like the white..glad I tried it..I got lots of decor inspiration from you this year…keep it coming Mary and hope you feel better soon!!! 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Prayers you feel better! I love the plaid (Tartan) if I could find a way to incorporate it all year I would

Love the plaid and the reindeer napkin rings pulling the sleigh. The plaid is nice and cozy and we need that with our temp at -1 ! A fire in the fireplace today for sure. Hope you feel better, take zinc and push the fluids. Hot water with lemon and honey is good for a sore throat. Get lots of rest too. Hugs to you🤒

I really enjoy reading your posts and look forward to each one. I made the reindeer snack mix and it was a big hit. I couldn’t find the snowflake pretzels or the red and green sprinkles or the red and green candy corn but I made substitutions and everyone loved it just the same. I think I will be making that next year now that I know how easy it is to make and how good it tastes! Thank you

Love the layers of plaid, Mary! I didn’t even notice that the glasses were missing!! I hope the nasty cold is gone by now, and you can enjoy some quiet time with Chloe and Gracie, cuddling under the blanket.

Have enjoyed your blogs. Tried your pecan pie muffins and they were awesome! Will certainly make those again! Hope you feel better soon :)

I love the plaids. And your reindeer are cute! Didn’t notice no glasses everything so pretty. Hope you feel better real soon. We have had that terrible cold and virus….was not fun! Doctor said he had seen a lot of patients with bad colds and virus.

Love that runner as the springboard for this tabkescape, and regret not getting those cool figural napkin rings when they were out. Didn’t even notice no glasses…bottles were under the ranke, right? Lol
Hope your bug doesn’t linger like it seems to want to do for so many who have gotten it.

So cozy and festive Mary, the throw and the reindeer runner are so cute!! I feel like I have visited a Christmas cabin in the woods! I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well, not fun this time of year…I would have never noticed the missing glasses, there were so many other things to look at! Feel better soon~

Mary, I hope you feel better soon. I didn’t even notice the absence of glasses, everything is so merry and bright. The reindeer runner is so cute and I love all the plaids! The Ballard napkin rings are fabulous! Have a wonderful week!

Mary, the plaids and darling appetizer plates make for a fun table. Like you, we are enjoying a restful, relaxing week. It’s cold here so we sit by the fire with the tree lights twinkling. It’s a perfect way to spend time after the rush of the holidays.

    Mary,

I have a question for you please.

What time of the year do you start shopping for Christmas décor? I started in October and found that most Christmas décor was either not out yet or already sold. Home Goods, here in Tucson, had not even put out their Christmas décor in October.

I assume you shop all year around looking for beautiful things for your posts. Is that a correct assumption?

We don’t have a lot to pick from here in Tucson but I guess with a little diligence, I might be able to find a few things.

Home Goods has their distribution center here, not too far from my house and yet I don’t think we get a lot of wonderful things in our Home Goods stores, certainly not the things I’ve seen in your posts.

You bring me so much joy year around. It’s so hot here in the desert, even now but your posts make me feel cool.

    Thank you.

Hi Pat, I’ve noticed that all HomeGoods stores are not are stocked equally. I’m assuming they’re stocked based on sales volume. We have 5 in our area and the closest one near me is small but it’s on my beaten path when I’m running errands and grocery shopping so I’ll stop in about 2 – 3 times a week depending on the season. There is a larger, better store about 30-40 minutes away and they carry things I don’t see at my smaller HG. My HG had their Christmas merchandise out by the beginning of October, maybe even the end of September. They also don’t get a lot of any one item and everything goes quickly at the beginning of the season so you have to make frequent visits. The one near me gets their fall and Thanksgiving merchandise in around August. Thank you for your visits and sweet comment. Happy New Year to you!

Oh so many many things to swoon about with this table! Those reindeer napkin rings – to die for! Wow!!! I just love your plaids and that runner with the reindeer and a touch of plaid!!! You always set such gorgeous tables.
I am still enjoying the lights – day and night! We leave the decor up until after my birthday – two weeks after Christmas and it makes having a January birthday not so bad!

  23. December 27, 2017 at 11:10 am

I was so distracted by all the beautiful plaid and reindeer details, I did not even notice the lack of glasses ;-) Had to go back and recheck after reading comments…IMMHO, it did not distract at all…at least for me, from the beauty of the table. I hope your Christmas Holidays area always Merry & Bright and wish you much Joy & Cheer!

  24. December 29, 2017 at 9:00 am

Hello Mary- there are so many things to love on this tablescape. I adore the plaid and all the accents. Like everyone else I hadn’t caught on that there were no glasses! I hope you get over the bug quickly as I’ve known a few people to have caught the bug and sometimes it lingers.
Wishing you a blessed and Happy New Year!

  25. January 2, 2018 at 7:01 am

The “joy and cheer” message is such an adorable one! The whole setting looks just gorgeous!
