I love creating a table or centerpiece to add some fun and whimsy to celebrate
the holidays and Valentine’s Day is no exception!
I’ve been nesting this month and set a cozy table for two by our Winter Nesting Tree.
Sparkly snowflakes, silver frosted branches and nesting birds help transform
the Christmas tree to a Winter Nesting Tree and brighten
cold and dreary winter days with the soft glow of the twinkling lights.

A Thompson Grey Tartan plaid throw adds a warm and cozy layer to the table. . .
And bird dishes flew in to add a winter nesting detail and nod
to lovebirds as a symbol for Valentine’s Day.
Red transferware, Spode Archive Collection ‘Blue Rose’. . .
And Spode ‘British Flowers – Rosa’ add some welcome floral detail to the table.
They’re layered on black and white check plates and framed with white chargers
and red beaded placemats to pair with the tartan throw.
I used the ‘vase within a vase’ method for a flower arrangement of hydrangeas,
carnations and alstroemeria from the grocery store as a centerpiece for the table.
I have a handy tip and hack I use that makes flower arranging a breeze and a way to recycle too. . .
reuse those plastic netting bags that produce comes in,
usually citrus and avocados!
Produce netting bags are strong and flexible, making it an ideal material to support
your flower stems and saves you the step of taping off a grid pattern on your vase!
Cut the netting to size to fit the top of your vase and secure it your vase with tape.
You can use floral tape for this step or I used wide clear packing tape
which makes it quick and easy to secure the slippery netting to the vase.
The tape will be concealed once it’s placed inside your larger vase.
Use the candy of your choice, filling in between the walls of your vases as decoration
and to conceal your flower stems. I used Red Hots Candy Hearts I found at Walmart.
Red mercury glass votives add a soft and shimmery glow to the table. . .
And scattered rose petals are strewn along a white cutwork runner for some additional romance.
It’s not Valentine’s Day without a sweet treat!
I found cupid arrow party picks at HomeGoods, a fun way to serve
squares of pound cake and strawberries cut into a heart shape.
And no Valentine’s Day is complete without chocolate,
so add a little drizzle of chocolate syrup underneath the skewers for serving.

I don’t know of a Valentine that would prefer to eat out at a restaurant instead of sharing a romantic dinner in at this table! Once again, a fabulous table…you’ve certainly outdone yourself for this holiday setting! I love the centerpiece made with gorgeous flowers and Red Hots…so cute! Additionally, the fruit skewers just set the table off with the strawberries notched into the shape of a heart…so creative! Also, by adding the throw, the table is warms up tremendously! The only thing missing was seeing those cute little dogs! Lol!

The arrow skewers with the heart shaped strawberries and cake with the drizzled chocolate is the sweetest touch, love it all. I remember ‘the day’ when most all of the available votives were the hobnail type, but all clear…none in red. Could that one pictured be from that era? Oh, those place settings! Simply gorgeous. I love the red transferware against the black plaid. So unique. And, that flower arrangement is spot on. I love the use of the cinnamon hearts. I will definitely be making some of those strawberry arrows to tuck in my husbands lunch on Valentine’s Day too!

I just love the idea of your winter nesting tree! I created a Valentine’s Day tree because it is just too hard to go from all decorated for Christmas to naked after! The winter tree is a nice transition.
The black plaid and red are so fun. It is always a delight to see what you create.
I just love the simple heart shaped strawberries on a stick. Now that is a fun and light dessert.

Red and white, with black buffalo check plates 🎉👍 , the black adds a crispness to the table setting, but I never imagined it complemented dark chocolate. Going tomake the bird nest strawberry chocolate scewers. So many easy great ideas. My husband is a Valentine baby…so even more reason to decorate. Thanks.
Very romantic. I always add fairy lights to fresh flowers. Just add so much to even marigolds from the garden. Never thought about using red hots for filler. I have four bags in freezer that I have no idea why until now. Thanks for sharing
