Heartfelt Thanks and Gracie Update 🐾

DSC_0607.1

Thank you for all your kind words and heartfelt messages about Chloe. I was so touched by the outpouring of sweet thoughts, love, hugs and prayers sent our way. Reading through all the comments still makes me weepy.

DSC_0622.1

With the recent passing of Billy Graham, my mom and my sister both sent me an email sharing one of his quotes.

“God will prepare everything for our perfect happiness in heaven, and if it takes my dog being there, I believe he’ll be there.”

~ Billy Graham

Gracie is starting to adapt to life without her shadow and twin.

DSC_0619.2

She used to be content to lay on the sofa and snooze as I went about my daily routine and projects.

DSC_0602.1

She’s more aware and anxious about where we are now if we walk out of the room or go outdoors.

She wandered out on the porch while I was photographing and to see what I was up to.

DSC_0603.1

She says she’s ready for an early spring too!

Hope you’re enjoying a some early blooms and a bit of spring where you are.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how Gracie was dealing with it. I am sure she sensed what happened but I know she misses her too. I always enjoyed seeing pics of them together but now she will have to fill the place of two and it looks like she is going to do fine.

I’m so sorry for yours and Gracie’s loss. We loss our sweet Niki two years ago and I still miss him. We weren’t going to get another Cavalier for a while but within two weeks we had our sweet miniature Cavalier Pepe. He is adorable and he shadows us all day also. I sing to him like I did to Niki, JESUS loves us, and like Niki he loves to here it. So I also know the bible doesn’t say we will see them again but I know in my heart that we will see them again. I can just imagine seeing all of my sweet pets racing to see me when I get to heaven. I told my sweet Niki the day he passed that he would be sitting in Jesus’ lap that very day and also running and playing with my other sweet pets that had gone to be with Jesus. God bless you and send you another sweet pet.

Such a thoughtful message sent by your Mom and sister. Wishing you, your husband, and Gracie comfort and hugs. Chloe will live forever in your hearts ♥️

I had a cat named Tom Jones. I then adopted a Maltese named Coconut. Coconut ruled the roost and would not let Tom Jones get near her food bowl. It was always something, she was definitely the boss! When Tom Jones passed away she was devastated. I was taking her on car rides about four times a day to try and take her mind off of it. I was surprised by her reaction! It was a few months before she got over the loss. After Coconut passed away unexpectedly, it took me three years before I was able to adopt my beagle/terrier mix. She was nine when I adopted her and she will be fourteen in July! Laudi Mae is her name and I’m so grateful she came into my life! It is so very hard to lose our four legged children, but I can’t imagine life without them!

I have just learned of the passing of Chloe and wish to send you my sincere sympathies. Gracie obviously will need more attention but I am sure she understands what happened to Chloe. Thanks for the Billy Graham quote, lovely!

  14. March 4, 2018 at 7:50 am

That is such a sweet quote. Looking for comfort after loosing my dog I got choked up when I read this once “Dog spelled backwards is God”.

  15. March 4, 2018 at 8:04 am

I believe that Billy Graham is exactly right. Mary, I have thought of you every day since your post. I have said prayers for all of you during this heartbreaking time. Thank you for sharing Gracie today and I pray the words of a great man will add a measure of comfort as you work through this sorrow.

So sorry for the loss of your sweet Chloe. I believe our dogs are a gift from our Creator, loaned for a time to teach us unconditional love, and, perhaps to connect us with strangers. You will never know how many smiles your sweet girls have brought to your readers and the connection we feel in your sorrow. We know your pain and offer our love.

Love the Billy Graham quote! I do believe we will see our fur babies in Heaven! God has given me some precious fur babies in my life and 3 I’m enjoying now. Gracie is so pretty in these pictures. I think she don’t want you out of site because of Chloe. Fur babies are intelligent! I always say just give them a chance to show you. Prayers and Hugs

Sweet Gracie…it will take a bit of time for her to adjust…the same thing happened to our Phoebe when her pal Roger was gone… <3

Opening this post and seeing Gracie’s sweet face warms my heart, Mary. I think of you and Gracie every day, and snuggled more with our Sadie girl. They are truly our hearts! I, too, smiled at Billy Graham’s quote. It will be a grand reunion.

Mary, life with our doggies is such a wonderful gift. Your two made our hearts melt and filled us with gratitude for the unconditional love they give. Animals were present at the nativity; they must be incredibly beloved by our Father. That thought, I think by Billy Graham (?) is especially comforting to me even now, several years after saying goodbye to our family fur love. I pray it brings you comfort, too.

  43. March 4, 2018 at 1:26 pm

This made me cry. I lost my precious dog named Chloe, too, a few yrs ago. My other dog seemed lost without her. He followed me every time I moved from one room to the next. His anxiety ski rocketed when I left the house. And when I’d return, all 10 lbs of him would leap and squirm until I’d pick him up. He’s also gone now. I miss both of their unwavering affection and cuddles but I agree with Billy Graham that we’ll all see our pets again in Heaven. Thanks for sharing your pups with all of us.

Mary, I am so sorry, Gracie also misses Chloe and will need extra care. We lost our sweet Joker about a month ago and there is such a void without him. The pain seems unbearable at times, but I know he is is a good place and not in pain. Extra dog treats for Gracie and lots of love.

I”m so sorry…it’s the only downside to having these furry kids in our lives. We know the day we bring them home that one day we will have to say goodbye. I lost my 15 year old Springer Spaniel a year ago and it still makes me cry. Hug Gracie!

  52. March 4, 2018 at 5:40 pm

Sweet and darling Chloe! What a hole she leaves in your heart, and Gracie’s too. She was always one of the best models on blogging, and so beautiful. Sadly we are both so allergic that we haven’t had pets besides lizards (yuck) and fish and turtles – not much to cuddle and love. But if I could have a dog, one like Chloe and Grace would be perfect.

Losing a beloved pet is as painful as losing a cherished family member . They give us their whole heart and soul and forgive us immediately for any of our failings. Although the loss of them is very, very difficult it is made worthwhile by the joy they give us day after day.At least it is that way for me. We out here in blog land came to love them too…and are so sorry for your loss.Mary in Colorado

So happy to see the pictures pictures of dear Gracie. She looks happy and well but sadly, like a little piece of her is missing. There truly is nothing like the pain of losing a fur baby. Their love is so pure and unconditional They are so innocent and loving and deserve all the loved in the world. I hope you find some comfort in knowing you gave Chloe the best and happiest life she could possibly have. If my kitties aren’t waiting for me in Heaven, I don’t want to go! Sending you hugs.

So poignant to see Gracie alone. I’ve been through this. Our dogs used to share one of their beds. It took a year for Ronan to sleep on it with Lily gone. Dogs are amazingly sensitive creatures. But they do heal in time, just like we do.

Thank You for sharing this update on Gracie. She is so precious too. Like so many who have commented on Chloe, I too have had my share of pets passing and know the pain. I have found the best way to move through it is by adopting another pet to love and care for. We have our current sweet toy poodle, Soapy, because of the passing of our previous toy poodle, Louie. I expect to be surrounded by all my dear pets again. It is my idea of heaven.

  67. March 5, 2018 at 11:03 am

I am so very sorry about your precious Chloe. She is having fun over the Rainbow Bridge playing and making new friends. 2 weeks ago today my husband was hospitalized with triple bypass surgery and our dear dog Missy is just lost without him being home. They are so keen and can pick up when something has changed in their life. Please give Gracie and extra hug for me.

Randy Alcorn, in his book HEAVEN, quoted Joni Eareckson Tada (as well as many others) on the subject: “If God brings our pets back to life, it wouldn’t surprise me. It would be just like Him. It would be totally in keeping with His generous character….Exorbitant. Excessive. Extravagant in grace after grace. Of all the dazzling discoveries and ecstatic pleasures heaven will hold for us, the potential of seeing Scrappy would be pure whimsy–urtterly, joyfully, surprisingly superfluous….Heaven is going to be a place that will refract and reflect in as many ways as possible the goodness and joy of our great God, who delights in lavishing love on His children.”

Mary, so glad to hear the Gracie is doing better, and prayers that you and the hubby are also. The thought of having our other four cats, as well as the dogs I grew up with, is wonderful. We currently have two cats we adopted after our last two went “home”. I have always believe that God loves us so much that all we have loved in this life will be there for us when we go home to Him.

  73. March 5, 2018 at 8:25 pm

Mary, I didn’t get a chance to leave a comment on your original post about Chloe, I’m so very sorry and all of us who have had precious little fur babies, understand that it’s so very hard. Also hard on their siblings in the family. My heart is “squeezed” when I see that sweet little face, because they really don’t understand. Sending hugs and prayers for all of you. love the sentiment of dear Billy. xo Debra

Please get Gracie a new friend. It is an adjustment but she will be distracted with this new companion and not dwell in aloneness. My dog was depressed when her companion died, so I got a new dog friend for her and then the focus changed and things leveled out a little. They became besties.

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Chloe. I had two Bichons also, and my heart broke when they died. The picture of your two sweet babies is one of the things that endured me to your blogs, it reminded me so much of my two precious babies, always together with those sweet little white fluffy bodies bouncing around.
