Weekend Waterview: Full Pond and a Boat Ride After Alberto

Happy Sunday! We’re enjoying a break from the rain and some sunny skies!

The pond is full after Subtropical Storm Alberto last week. The lake levels are starting to recede but there are high water cautions and warnings for debris and navigational hazards.

With such a rainy spring, we haven’t had many boating days and Memorial Day weekend was a washout.

Gracie was ready for a little welcome sunshine and a boat ride!

It’s nesting season for Great Blue Herons. My camera lens isn’t quite ‘zoomy’ enough for much detail,  but if you look closely you can see four herons and two nests in the trees on this island.

We always enjoying looking at house eye candy on the lake . . .

Head and chin scratches + sunshine and a ride in the Captain’s chair = doggy bliss. . .

Hope you’re enjoying a little sunshine this weekend!

Thank you for your visit!

Good morning Mary! What a nice surprise to awaken with an email from you and wonderful photos! Gracie is really enjoying the boat ride and the sunshine. Love the photo compilation which included nature, a beautiful home, and a wonderful sunset; they were all such relaxing pics. I could almost feel like I was on the lake with the flag waving in the wind! Hope you have a relaxing Sunday! Clara 😎

Gracie is just too cute! Give her an extra hug for me. ♥️ Glad that you were finally able to take a boat ride and are getting some good sun. Love the picture of Gracie with the flag on the stearn and the waves, but the picture of her in her Daddy’s arms is precious! Those lovely homes are Beautiful! Enjoy your “day of rest”. 😊🐶♥️

I live on Table Rock Lake in southern Missouri and always enjoy your lake photos and “full” pond reports! Our water temperature is 83 degrees which is fantastic for floating but causes concern that by August it won’t be refreshing to dive in! Guess that just means we will swim on thru September!!! Happy summer! Continue to have time for your blog!!!

I spotted all the heron’s! Aren’t they glorious birds? We have one that frequents our place by the creek. I love to watch him swoop in. I wanted to ask how your 1 fur baby is doing with out her sibling? She is adorable!

Hey Mary, Gracie looks good in the Captain’s seat with her Daddy! We’re in Port St Joe, Fl & like you, we have not had our boat in the water – crazy weather, but looking forward to our first time with our puppies. Thanks for always sharing your wonderful pictures.

A mother heron fished our Koi pond and took 7 large Koi. Must now keep a wire screen over the pond to keep mama herion from fishing. She still comes by rather frequently to check it out. She is pretty but so are my koi. Enjoy the nice weather because it looks like you were drenched this week. Stay safe.

    • June 3, 2018 at 1:57 pm

      • June 4, 2018 at 4:31 am

I thought that was Lake Norman… how delightful!

  17. June 3, 2018 at 2:04 pm

Doggie bliss for sure. Just look at those snuggles! We sure could use some of that rain. It’s in the forecast for today, but so far it’s blue skies and sunshine. Happy June to you!

Enjoyed your pictures of the beautiful lake but I must admit that Gracie looks a little lonely now boating without her sidekick. We visited Lake Norman many years ago and it is beautiful. Hopefully the rains are over so we can all start enjoying spring/summer.

    • June 5, 2018 at 3:14 pm

Hi Kathleen, We’re looking for a sidekick for her. It may take a while to find one.Lake Norman has really grown, you wouldn’t recognize it!

      Thank you! Lake Norman ⚓️⛵️🐾

  22. June 3, 2018 at 4:11 pm

Oh sweet Gracie, I’m so glad you had a sunny day and a boat ride! At least now Mary, you won’t have to worry about the lake level this summer! Such beautiful photos, and I love blue herons…our blue heron Freddy was furious this spring when we drained the pool {his favorite watering hole} and both boats were gone {his favorite perches} so we didn’t see him for a while. Now he’s back and happily enjoying the new boat and a full swimming pool! Happy June!

One of my favorite lake activities is looking at the house candy!!! Back in the day I used to do some sailing on Lake Murray near Columbia, SC. I much prefer pontooning for the viewing! That photo of Gracie and your hubby is just adorable. Hope you were able to get back on the lake today.

Hi Mary, so glad you finally got your boat ride. Gracie is a cutie pie and looks like she could stay out all day. Great pic, I did see the herons and that’s awesome! I love the house eye candy too, gorgeous. Alberto left so much rain behind. He was slow moving through and just kept coming over and over with the storms and rain. Finally after a week of it we are seeing sunny days, but it’s terribly hot and humid already. Hope you have a wonderful week………..

Hi Paula, I so can sympathize and relate with how much you miss Lexy. I think about Chloe everyday too. We’re hoping to find her a companion in the next few months.

P.S. I bet a new Viking stove would improve both our efforts in the kitchen :)

How is Gracie doing? Poor baby but she sure looks happy and content in the captains arms! Thanks for sharing this, we are STILL having rain and it is COOL! In the 50’s and 60’s today:( UGH. Enjoy that boat every chance you get!

  29. June 3, 2018 at 10:31 pm

Oh this is too cute!!! Gracie looks like she is loving it!! We just got back from a pontoon ride on our little lake, looking at all the houses is my favorite thing to do!! Your eye candy is like movie theatre snow caps, while ours are penny candy!! But it’s fun to look at the houses, gardens and lakeside patios!!

  30. June 3, 2018 at 11:57 pm

Mary, the boat ride looks perfect on a sunny day after all the rain! Aw, Gracie always so photogenic!
