I’m sharing a little weekend waterview for your Sunday.
We’re enjoying a little early morning and evening pontoon time, avoiding the heat of the day. . .
Oh the joy of a boat ride . . .
With the wind in our ears and our tail!
#DogsLoveBoating
We always enjoy checking on the osprey nests. . .
They’ll begin their fall migration in about a month to head south of the U.S. to winter in Mexico and Central and South America, returning to the same nests in early March.
We always get a kick out of creative boat names. . .
This pontoon ‘Wuz a Harley’.
And such a peaceful way to enjoy your ‘Idle Times’.
We always enjoy seeing the flags flying. . .
What a great spot to swing away the morning with a cup a coffee and a book.
We pulled up for a closer look to see the dock all ‘bottled up’. . .
Love the bottle tree!
It’s been a sweltering and stormy week and so dog gone humid you can hardly stand being outside.
I know fall is a dirty four letter word for those that live above the Mason-Dixon line, but I’m counting down the days to my favorite season!

YOU ARE a breath of fresh air!! Lake breeze must connect in a strange bond…where you have osprey we have two eagle nests in our trees which I just read they return to as well. Our fav thing is seeing r/w/b waving our belief. We need to get “Mariah” rigged & test those lake winds. franki
What a beautiful post!! Gorgeous photos! Here in NEPA, it has been a sweltering awful Summer with way too much heat and rain. I love Fall and Winter and can not wait for it!! I will be happy when the temps. drop to around 70 and I can finally open my windows!!! May I ask what type of dog you have? So sweet!!
Hugs,
Deb
Oh how I miss those rides on the water..it really was a nice way to cool off! Your photos and views are gorgeous and so refreshing. Fall is truly a lovely time of the year, but I don’t look forward to what will be next😟 But winter is one of our seasons here in the Midwest.
Nice! Love the boat names, always fun to see the cleverness behind them. Cool dock with the swing and bottle tree. I’m trying to patiently enjoy these lingering days of summer. Early morning walks are great, with fog blocking the sun and making sunglasses unnecessary, but not long after the bugs just eat me alive. I dodge in and out to feed hummers, change/clean the [bird]bath water, and water containers. I leave the weeding mostly to the Mr. at this point.
Never tire of seeing sweet Gracie and the water /sky pictures. So peaceful! Love it! I understand your desire to be rid of the humidity, we have had some hot, steamy days also and I don’t care for them at all. I always think of you in the south and wonder how you can stand it.,ugh.! I will hold on to summer a bit longer as ours are so short, we savour every day, but my favorite season is fall. Love the color, the bonfires, the pumpkins, cider and cinnamon donuts, going to the cider mill. Ahhh, more fun to come. Better days are coming for you Miss Mary, hang in there girl! 😊🍊🎃🍂
Hey, that’s cheating! Bottle trees are a way to brag about all the wine you have enjoyed 😄

Beautiful views! It’s always a joy to see your posts, especially those with Gracie. Are Gracie’s cousins coming to visit anytime soon?
This certainly has been a summer for the record books. I hope I don’t see another one like it anytime soon. We don’t really experience autumn, so I look forward to sharing yours through your posts. September is our second hottest month of the year, so as you start to cool down and see the leaves begin to turn, those of us in southern California will still be suffering from the heat, but I can pretend that I’m feeling a cool breeze off the lake when I see your pictures.
I can just picture you cruising along on your pontoon and seeing all the sights. Thanks for the pretty views, and Gracie always makes me smile. Happy Sunday! 🤗
You may be sweltering in the heat, but your pics look cool and refreshing! Love that bottle tree, I want one sparkling in the sun now! First day since July first that I have my view back, the smoke has briefly blown north, still coughing with the scent, but I am not complaining when so many have lost everything in the fires. Yep, your water looks damn good in my eyes!
Love your blog. We live in Thomasville, NC, and our retirement dream is to buy a home on High Rock Lake and own a pontoon. You are living our dream! I really enjoy your photos. Gracie is adorable. Thank you for sharing.
So pretty and peaceful Mary…there is nothing like a boat ride whether on a lake or on a large river. We are still having algae issues and red tide issues down here, so boating isn’t quite as “pretty” as on your lake, unless we get out into the gulf and open water. I love the “looks” on Gracie…our little Jesse James weighs all of 5 pounds and sniffs the air like he can take on anything. So cute.
Hi there Mary!
Just wanted you to know I just finished reading She Sheds and yours is my most favorite!! I’ve all these pics…and I cannot wait for fall either! Sure hope Gracie is getting along ok as an “only” dog! Hugs to you both!
Jeanne
Hello, I just love your blog and everything to go with it. You can invite my husband and I over anytime we live in the Lincolnton area and yes I have a she shed also.
Just love your “water views” and love how Gracie loves her “ride” Had to laugh at the name of the boat…now my brother lives on a lake in Georgia…has a pontoon boat, but still has his Harley! … maybe his boat should be called, “and I have a Harley too” …

Beautiful! Makes me J for jealous! I live on a river but have No boat! Thanks for letting me live vicariously thru you!
Fall cannot come soon enough 🍁🍁🍁 this humidity is out of control.

Take an allergy tablet! No more bug bites for the outing!
Absolutely lovely and serene. Thanks so much, Mary, for sharing these photos!

Your post was such a nice way to start the day 😊
Mary is this your bottle tree where did or do you find the blue bottles. Love, love, love. Thanks again.
Hi Terry, no that’s someone else’s bottle tree we saw while boating. You can buy cobalt or colored glass bottles on Amazon by the case: https://www.amazon.com/Midwest-Homebrewing-Winemaking-Supplies-Bordeaux/dp/B0727R1SXK?keywords=blue+bottles+glass&qid=1534090601&sr=8-3&ref=mp_s_a_1_3

Want to share a bit of the folklore of bottle trees…..go to your favorite search engine and check it out!
Hi Dee, I shared that here last year with one by my Potting Shed: https://homeiswheretheboatis.net/2017/06/12/morning-glory-vine-bottle-tree/

love the bottle tree, i want one! I think many German wines come in blue bottles too.
Love these pics! They just made my day! It appears that bottle tree may have been an old artificial Christmas tree at one point! Great recycling idea!
I would love to live by some kind of water, lake , pond or even a creek. You are so lucky! Love your puppy!
