Happy Wednesday! I’m spending most of my free time weeding, watering and puttering around the Potting Shed. I decided my shed front door was in need of a fresh and updated blooming wreath!
I dismantled my Garden Hose Wreath with Blooming Wellies last year to use the tools and the wellies. I decided the bright green colored hose was a little too vibrant for late summer, so I picked up a 15 foot hose in a more muted shade of green for $8 from Lowes.
This is a quick and easy project for your shed door, fence, gate, or nook on the porch where you want to plant some garden charm! For quick and easy assembly, coil your hose to desired size and use cable ties to secure it.
Cable ties are one of the greatest things ever invented IMHO and are available in various colors and strengths. They’re inexpensive, hold things securely and can be removed later.
Gather your materials for your wreath. Let your creativity bloom. . .plant your garden hose wreath with small pots, seed packets, tools or anything that says ‘garden’ to you. If you want to be extra fancy, add some ribbon to embellish your wreath.
I chose some vintage garden tools. . .a pair of old rake heads, gloves, Wellies, a watering can and a sweet little roosting pocket. The roosting pocket is designed to the give birds shelter in cold, wet and windy weather, but I’ve only used it decoratively.
I had an old hose nozzle that I added to lend some vintage charm to the hose wreath.
The wellies and the gloves both had tabs on the back that I ran the cable ties through to secure them. The wellies are hanging from the teeth of one of the rake heads.
A well-used pair of vintage garden clippers hangs at top. The clippers have a space between the blades and the handle to slip it over the wreath hanger to secure them.
I placed plastic cups inside the wellies filled with water as vases for Limelight Hydrangeas that are blooming.

I want to go buy a hose now and round up some garden goodies to create one. Good Morning Mary, The last few weeks have been busy around my house with guests so I have not gotten to read you posts until late in the day. So thankful, I could sit down this morning and enjoy this your beautiful garden photos and inspiration wreath idea. This summer my husband has concentrated on renovations to his workshop with an enclosed garage for my car. The good news is now he has more room in his workshop and the things he has stored in my shed have been removed. Now I can begin to organize the interior. I have noticed you have a rug on the floor of your shed, did you paint the subfloor or cover it with some type of flooring? My shed has a plywood floor and I am considering painting it black. Your input would be much appreciated.
Hi Virginia, Hooray for more space in your shed! My flooring is simple plywood that’s stained. We used the same stain on the floor as on the exterior steps to keep it simple and I placed an indoor/outdoor rug on top.
Thanks Mary, we are going to use a grey composite on the porch floor for both my garden shed and his workshop. I just may use a porch paint or stain as you suggested. The floor would probably take stain better than paint. I may try a sample of each. Also got a five foot window box installed under the double windows on the river side and it looks so good. Thank you so much for your advice.

Love the Hydrangeas and the hose wreath!! Redoing a garden area and am looking for more plants that come back and I’m hoping those will do well in our open farmland area..almost NO shade..yours look like they are in direct sun so that gives me hope..as this will be my last redo considering my age (73) and can’t quite do all I use to do!! I will definitely read “How To Grow Hydrangeas”…I have one now that doesn’t bloom as much as I would like..maybe I can find out why!! I also look forward to Floral Fridaysand more info from you!!
