Our theme and challenge for this week’s edition of Floral Friday was to use jars in a picnic setting.
It was a pore-cleansing challenge. . .
With an eye on the weather to dodge rain showers, I ended up photographing and setting my picnic up on extremely humid 90+ degree day . . .the things I do for blogging. ;)
I cut some Limelight Hydrangea blooms for some Ball Jar Bouquets and to fill a basket to hang on the dock post.
My galvanized bottle caddy is a favorite picnic accessory and comes in handy for toting and corralling flatware, napkins, drinks, straws, food in jars, as well as Ball Jar Bouquets.
Alstroemeria from the grocery store provides a pop of red and joins foliage from the shrubs, limelight hydrangea blooms and coleus from the planters.
I filled my picnic basket with some new melamine Berry & Blossoms plates and bowls I was thrilled to find on sale last month.
The fruit, flowers and wicker pattern makes for festive picnic-ware and enjoying a casual and easy picnic of fruit and cheese and some sparkling lemonade!
Colorful ceramic knives add some additional flower power for Floral Friday. Who wouldn’t want to cut their baguette or slice their cheese with a floral knife with a blooming blade cover?

Ok…so let’s start at the fabulous tablecloth…it truly looks vintage!…I wanted to use a vintage cloth however, I packed them all away thinking, I won’t need them … never say never….And missed that sale on those amazing MacKenzie-Childs dishes…they are so beautiful!…..the plates, the knives, the tablecloth, the floral bouquets, the everything together making a truly wonderful picnic setting by the lake. I see that Gracie was smart enough to stay inside away from the heat. I must ask..in this sticky humid weather…do you sometimes have trouble with your lens fogging up? I do!….Glad you weathered the heat and awful humidity to bring us such beauty. Hi Shirley, I learned the hard way to put my camera and lens on the porch to ‘warm up’ for about an hour in advance of using them. They always ‘fog’ going from the A/C to the summer heat! Beautiful display…love vintage tablecloths..I have many andvsome are starting to get holes, etc..therefore, I found fruit or floral appliqués and attached them and they look like they belong on that tablecloth.. the dishes are to die for but I better not find any..I have no more room for dishes!! Thanks for the floral on Friday…

Mary, what a beautiful setting for a picnic with your gorgeous lake view. I can’t believe the tablecloth is not vintage. It looks like one I have that is very old and faded. I am crazy over the MKC melamine, I should have gotten in on the sale. I do not own a single piece, why I keep asking myself. Your hydrangeas cut from your garden are the perfect picnic flower in your ball jars. It is raining here today and we haven’t had a drop in over a week, and it is supposed to cool down to the 80’s over the next few days. You are right when you said what we do for blogging. This week a friend gifted me with a Ball jar of the most amazing zinnias. The colors are so bright & summery. They bring such joy and I have been over the moon with thankfulness.

Oh how much fun Mary, although my first thought was how did you do that in the summer heat! I love the way you described it as a pore cleansing experience! So pretty Mary…you are such an inspiration. Your picnic setting is so serene and the tablelcoth a definite find. I have never gotten into the MKC craze due to the high prices, altho I have admired them always. ..and yours are lovely in melamine. We have had rain, rain and more rain in SW Florida which brings very high humidity. It will soon cool off as Fall transitions in.

I have an antique bottle holder just like yours but I have always used it for milk bottles. I load it up with daffodils in the spring. I’m going to try it out with ball jars, it will have a whole new life!. Thanks for the inspiration

The silver plate floral knives appear to be Jubilee 1953. They are displayed in the jars handle up. Very beautiful!
This post is just the cutest ever!
I love all of the floral Friday ladies. But the water gets me every time. I can close my eyes and imagine sitting at your table and hearing the water lapping against the edge. Margarita’s, salsa, and chips is all the sustenance I would need. I’m a NC native living in Co and a lake here looks to me to be a mud puddle. We are experiencing an early Fall as the nights are chilly and I sleep with the window open. Will miss seeing Pam’s beautiful garden and Lidy’s floral masterpieces when the cold weather arrives.

Mary, I am loving your new vintage look tablecloth( I would have never known) for your waterside picnic. It really pops next to the water and shows off your flowers. That galvanized caddy is a great piece to use for picnics with such cute floral straws.
I love the MC berries and blossom plates served with fruit and adorable floral edge knife. You find the neatest things.
I do appreciate the sweat equity in styling your table but it looks so cool and pleasant in your pics.

Good Evening Mary, It’s been a busy week but could not let the day go by without viewing your Friday Floral post. Just love your fruit and cheese picnic by the lake. My Grandmother had a similar tablecloth with cherries and I just loved how you dressed the table with the berries and blooms China. Great way to end my week.
