Meet Lola: 6 Pounds of Puppy Love

DSC_5725.1

Happy Friday! Meet Lola, our new family member and 6 pounds of puppy love. ♥

DSC_5691.1

When we said goodbye to Chloe in February, our hearts were broken. Thank you again for all your heartfelt comments and emails. I still get teary-eyed when I read them.

DSC_5736.1

Lola is a 13-week old Bichon Frise, like Chloe and Gracie.

DSC_5712.1

We brought her home last week when I was on ‘lakecation’.

Needless to say it’s been hard to get much done other than sit and play with her.

DSC_5720.1

Lola is sweet and smart. . .

DSC_5730.1

And fluffy. . . 3 pounds of puppy and 3 pounds of hair. ;)

DSC_5717.1

And although you can’t tell it from these photos, she is very active.

DSC_5745.1

It’s been 13 years since we’ve had a puppy, I need to take my vitamins. ;)

DSC_5711.1

She came from a loving home and AKC responsible Bichon Frise breeder in North Carolina.

DSC_5738.1

DSC_5737.1

Posing for photos is tiring work. ;)

Gracie is still getting acclimated to have a puppy in the house.

At the moment she prefers to observe from her chair and out of reach from this fast moving bundle of energy that has such sharp puppy teeth!

Thank you for your visit!

Poor Gracie doesn’t know what hit her LOL! So happy you have another puppy, and from a wonderful breeder. I admire people who rescue dogs, but there is just no substitute for a well-bred dog. I just went through the puppy stage again, and–just a suggestion–you may want to stockpile coffee. Really strong coffee….

Just a beautiful pup! Nothing like puppy love to make your heart soar!

I lost my precious black and white shih tzu, Calvin, in March. One week later Calvin came to me in a dream and told me he was not ready to leave us yet. The next morning I went on Petfinder and found an adorable shih tzu rescue who looked just like Calvin.

Cody, our new pup, has healed our hearts and brings so much joy daily. He reminds me so much of Calvin, it’s like he is watching over us. Cody is a blessing from above. Thank you Calvin for leading me to him!

Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! We have cats and we had one for 14 years and lost him to cancer, then got two kittens but 4 months apart. It was exhausting! I feel your fatigue. But it is so worth it. I know you will be so happy with her and she will do things that remind you of Chloe and that will make you sad sometimes, but also really happy to have that piece of her continue on through a new baby. Lola is adorable and in time Gracie will adjust and they will be best buds. Have fun and enjoy these puppy days.

I certainly can relate to what you’re going through! We lost our beloved 13 year old Yorkie, Jessie, two years ago and we finally brought ourselves to get a puppy this March. March madness! Cute as a button, but he chews on everything and we were sure tired for the first few months. He’s a CavaTzu named Winston and we love him to death! Your new baby is adorable. Congratulations!

Lola is Beautiful! Congratulations! We too have two Bichons and I think I always will. Just such a special part of our lives. I know how heartbroken you were when you lost Chloe. Lola will never take her place but she will help open your hearts for a new fur friend. The hardest part for us with a puppy was where the chewing took place. Have fun, she will keep you running. Gracie will be showing her the routines of your day.

  96. August 31, 2018 at 6:56 pm

Well, Sadie and I send big hugs of congratulations. It’s such a void with the loss of a pet, and though they always live on in our hearts, it is good to welcome another furry baby into our lives and hearts. It took us far too many years to realize that we could love another dog, and now of course we question why we waited so many years. I know Lola will bring you tons of love to help mend the hole left with Chloe’s loss. Gracie will be a good role model for this little ball of fur. So happy for you and for this cutie that has the best home ever!

Congratulations! Lola is just beautiful! Big sister Gracie will acclimate soon enough. Having a baby in the house is good for older pets.

  100. August 31, 2018 at 8:00 pm

Chloe would be so pleased that she was such a great companion that when she could no longer be with you that you did get another doggie friend (child) Gracie will be pretty excited to have someone to be with too. Not near so lonely for her! Hopefully Lola will love pontoon rides too! It is hard to get use to puppy energy–my husband and I think we can’t do it again every 13-15 years when we have the “pleasure” of raising another one. Embrace those special times when you get a glimpse of the wonderful dog your puppy is going to be!!!

Congratulations!!! I wanted to send you a note of commiseration when you lost Chloe, but, I just kept getting far too emotional. At that time, my lovely little boy “Elliot” (a white toy poodle) who I’d had the joy and privilege of sharing my life with for 17+ years, was quite obviously nearing his end. Having been blind for 3+ years, he’d become arthritic & had osteoporosis (I have both… the little drama queen was trying to keep the spotlight on him!), then he started to become less steady on his feet…. I just knew (oh God, here I go again welling up!). Anyway, some four months later his time came & with my heart breaking I said goodbye (for now) to my little man. Earlier in my life I’d lost a much loved Burmese cat (Tia) and I made the mistake of getting a new Burmese only 3 months later. Huge mistake! I was still grieving, and couldn’t bond with the new kitten as easily as i should have (eventually all went well and “Sassy” my little girl was with me for 19+ years, she was Elliots “big sister”). So, from that experience, I learned to let the grieving process run it’s course, before you even consider getting a new animal… which you obviously know! So, I wish you all the best with your new little “baby”, the fact you are now ready, hopefully means my time is coming, and I’l be able to invite a new little love into my life. Kind, regards.

This makes me so happy. Pictures of Gracie alone have made me a little sad so even though she may be in shock over this sweet bundle, I am sure she will adjust. I am happy for you all. Enjoy. These puppy days go so quickly.

My wife and I have a 4 year old who mirrors your Chloe. I grew up with working retrievers, so I love dogs. But our little Bishon, Jolie, has my heart. Congratulations on your new addition.

Lola is adorable! I am so glad you got her! You can never replace Chloe but another set of paws is always good to hear! We have 3 Bichons-Fifi, Winston Churchill and Daisy. Fifi had her first litter in June so it was a wonderfully busy place around here for a few weeks! I love this breed and their sweet dispositions.

We felt the same as our little bichone Snowflake poo passed away in April this year. Life could not go on. Then we got two bichon poo. Lewis and Clark they are almost 6 months now. They make life a joy they are a handful with two. But we love them. I totally understand. Trish.

Lola is beautiful! (Like all Bichons!!). I am currently mom to 2 Bichons, a Havachon, and a Cavachon. I love them all, but nothing beats a Bichon Frise in my mind! Like you, when my first Bichon, Mikaela, passed away, I was heartbroken even though I had 3 other dogs at the time, including my second Bichon, Lily. When Lily passed from liver cancer, it was devastating, but I could never move on without a Bichon Frise or two…enter Emilee and Paisley…my current Bichon loves.

Wishing you and Gracie a wonderful life with Lola!

I just lost my Lola! She was 15 years old. I’m thinking about a new baby and would like to know where you bought your Lola? I too will have to my vitamins!! But I don’t think I can make it without a bichon. My baby was so sweet and smart!! Can’t stop crying!! Thank you

I’m so sorry for you loss. Bichons are wonderful companions. We got Lola and Sophie from a breeder in NC. I’m not sure if she has any puppies available but you can find her info here: https://www.breeders.net/detail.php?id=259500

Congrats to you and Lola. I said goodbye to my 14.5 year old Bichon Frise, Heidi, in September 2019. She helped me thru my husband’s death and was besides me for two years after that. I could not have gotten thru that w/o her. Sadly, I knew her time was coming soon and I had always promised her I would not let her suffer any pain. Even tho I knew she had pain, she was still a very good dog. Her vet came to our house to humanely “put her down”; as I have instructed my son, her ashes will be put in my coffin when I pass. I spent one night alone and heard all kinds of noises, both inside and outside the house. The next day I got Sophie. At 8 weeks old, she was certainly different from Heidi at 14.5 years. She is now almost 9 months old; She still chews on everything she can get in her mouth. But, I would not be without my Bichon.
