Wild and Woolly, Sunflowers and Puppy Love

DSC_6715.2

Lola is 14 weeks old and in the wild and woolly stage of puppy hood!

Thank you to everyone for the sweet comments you left welcoming her.

DSC_6689.2

She is smart and full of puppy energy and needs lots of chew toys to keep our fingers and ear lobes out of harm’s way!

It’s been 13 years since we had a puppy, we needed a refresher course.

I’ve had a few comments asking about sharing any training tips. We listened to Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution and highly recommend it. It’s available in paperback and Kindle, as well as an audio version, but I have more time to listen these days rather than ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ to read. 🐾

He has some great YouTube videos for puppy / dog training too.

I’m working with her to pose for the camera. Chloe was my natural ‘camera hound’ and happy to pose anytime as long as she was getting attention and the promise of a treat.

I experimented to see if Lola would tolerate wearing something in her hair while posing. . .

DSC_6620.1

It took a lot of photos and more than a few treats.

DSC_6718.1

The sunflower pick came from Michaels, all their fall florals were 40% off. I cut it apart and removed the large berry clusters and used a small claw hair clip to attach to her head.

Her ‘Wild & Woolly’ puppy stage is real but also a fun play on my ‘Woodsy and Wise’ Whimsical Fall Table.

She’s in good company!

Lola is a cutie patutie! Thanks for the puppy tips as I am contemplating getting a four legged fur baby. Your blog always brings a smile to my face.

Mary, Lola is beautiful. I have a 7 year Golden Retriever who is camera shy. The other 2 will wait for you to take their picture but once Pumpkin sees the camera she is gone, not only a digital camera but she does the same thing when someone pulls out their cell phone. Kim

So sweet! Congrats on your courage to love again! When we lost our “old girl,” it took us 2.5 years before we were willing to take the chance. We were rewarded a million times over with the new 4-legged love of our life! Cheers to fall–the most wonderful time of the year!

It does not getting any cuter than this! Please keep those photos coming. You’ll have to cue up Barry Manilow’s Copacabana during your photo shoot:

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha

  16. September 6, 2018 at 8:50 am

Well, she is just adorable and I’m so happy for you. Lots of work but so much fun!

  17. September 6, 2018 at 8:52 am

Lola looks like a natural in front of the camera, Mary. My, is she ever adorable! I’m glad that you’re getting her used to posing, so that we get the benefit. The tiara of Fall flowers looks perfect on Lola!

  18. September 6, 2018 at 8:55 am

Lola is so cute and has the prettiest fluffy fur. Starting her out young with fall adornment should train her to enjoy modeling! So adorable.

She’s darling! So glad you got a new puppy. We’re currently in the puppy stage, too. Our shelter pup, Tinker is now 4 1/2 months old. She sustained a fracture of her femur when she was thrown out of a car with two siblings, so she had to spend 4 weeks on cage rest. But she’s 100% now and entertaining us every day. Best of luck with yours!
