A refreshing cocktail and fall twist on a Moscow Mule that celebrates autumn
with seasonal flavor, when you’re craving hayrides and cider!
Fall is my favorite season and now that’s officially here, it calls for a cocktail in celebration!
Apple Cider Moscow Mules are perfectly refreshing this time of year,
when it’s still too warm outside to sip hot apple cider.
This apple version of a Moscow Mule makes for a delicious fall twist that celebrates autumn
with some seasonal flavor, when you’re craving hayrides and cider!

If you’re not familiar with a Moscow Mule, it’s traditionally made with vodka,
spicy ginger beer and lime juice. Despite its name, Ginger Beer is not a beer and has no alcohol,
but adds a zippy ginger flavor that’s more robust than ginger ale,
pairing perfectly with apple cider. I used an apple vodka for this cocktail for some additional apple flavor
that I had left over from mixing up some apple sangria a few years ago.
The Moscow Mule mug keeps your cocktail nice and frosty and is essential when
the heat and humidity are in the sweltering range.
Make sure they’re lined with stainless steel that won’t react to the acid in the lime or fruit juice.
Apple Cider Moscow Mule
This is the type of cocktail that I don’t usually measure, mixing to taste.
Fill copper mugs with ice, to each mug add:
2 oz. apple vodka
Add equal parts apple cider and ginger beer to top off. Add a squeeze of lime, stirring to combine.
Garnish and serve with a cinnamon stick and apple slice.
Mix, drink, repeat. . . which I might have done this weekend when my sister was in town for a visit ;)
It goes without saying that you can alter the ingredients to your taste or what’s in your liquor cabinet.
Use regular vodka if you don’t have apple-flavored vodka or substitute a hard cider.
For a refreshing mocktail, omit the vodka and mix the cider with ginger beer
and lime or substitute a nonalcoholic sparkling cider if you prefer.
If you’re looking for an easy seasonal cocktail for a crowd or tailgating,
mix up a pitcher of Apple Cider Sangria, as easy to mix as it is to drink!

Hi, what would the measurements be for a pitcher ?
This post has me “falling” to make this drink!😉 Thanks for sharing and enjoy all that Autumn has to offer.🍂🍁 PS. I love how you used the round piece of wood as a tray, however, did you apply something for protection from spills?
Hi Bonbongirl, it’s a tree slice charger that I use for tablescaping that came with a wax finish on it. I hope you enjoy this refreshing fall cocktail as much as we did! 🍁🍂🍎
Mary, thanks for the recipe. Will definately make these this weekend. Kim
It looks delicious. I love all of your post. I would like to know where you got the pretty napkins.
Thanks Mary Jane, The plaid napkins came from Pier 1 last year :)
The copper mugs are so pretty and frosty keeping that drink super cold. Love copper and the wooden charger looks great as a fall or anytime serving tray. Can’t wait for some good cider and a fresh donut at the cider mill. 🍂🍊 Happy Fall! 🍂🍊
Thanks for the recipe. It’s sounds perfect for our warm fall temperatures! Love the plaid hand towel! Did you purchase it recently ?
Hi Elizabeth, The plaid napkins came from Pier 1 last year :)
Yum, sounds delicious. Too early for cocktails right now, but maybe this afternoon.
I think you have found the perfect antidote to these hot temperatures. Looks so refreshing. Happy Fall Mary. Looking forward to your Fall posts.
Mary, that looks so refreshing for hot autumn days. We are getting rain today and it is forecasted for the next several days, and then cooler weather!
These sound fabulous—perfect for porch sipping —and goes great with your ‘apple’ themes. Will definitely try!
Sounds very refreshing! I’ll join you in toasting fall Mary:@)
I am keeping this recipe Mary….and it is perfect for our hot Florida weather right now. I bought my copper mule cups a couple years ago at Sam’s Club….and I love to bring them out for a Fall table. In fact, you have inspired me to start a new tablescape with them today! Have a great week.
Mary, I am with Mississippi Magazine, and I am wondering if you would allow us to print one or two of your images of the Dutch Ann Brand tart shells that you used in a recipe? Please contact me to discuss. Thank you! You have a wonderful blog!
TFS! I got my day lilies in the mail already! Looking forward to trying a mule.
