Meet Rod Skellington, tricked out in his favorite Get Reel Get Fish hat. . .
He’s enjoying some lake fishing on the dock this month for Halloween.
Wonder what’s biting. . .let’s take a closer look. . .
Could it be bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill or maybe yellow perch?. . .
Looks like he reeled in a bonefish!
Hmmm. . .wonder if Rod’s fishing license has expired?
Fishing is thirsty work. . .
The only problem is, when Rod drinks, it seems to run right through him. . . ;)
I like to keep the ‘Happy’ in Halloween and my tastes run more towards rib-tickling rather than spine-tingling! I’ve been seeing all these humorous skeletons in outdoor settings on Pinterest.
I finally took the plunge and ordered a skeleton from Grandin Road when they were on sale with free shipping a couple of weeks ago. The skeleton fish came from Amazon and then I landed another one while grocery shopping last week.
We have a lot of fishing that takes place in our cove and around our dock. We got a kick out of watching the boats pull up to take a closer look at Rod last weekend.
While I know Halloween isn’t everyone’s ‘cup of tea’, I make no bones about loving some scary fun!
Thanks for indulging my skellie humor, bad puns and meeting Rod. ;)
Shellie fun on the dock is so clever!!! I hate seeing skeletons hanging from trees in our neighborhood, but yours has a theme and is totally perfect for its setting. 🤗
Hahaha! Halloween is not my cup of tea but this is hilarious! Maybe I should dress a skeleton up for a tea party! I have a few witches that might join him. Thanks for a smile on Hump Day.
How clever! So cute and a fun way to celebrate Halloween. That would be me waiting for a fish to bite! LOL Always e joy your posts! Thanks for the smiles today.
I am not a Halloween fan, but that is down right cute! I loved that you had his foot proped up on his tackle box, lol. His hat is totally stylin’! He has a big grin, because he is having a good fishing day, ha! If I were a boater, I would have to come close too! Good for a chuckle! You’re a great story teller Mary, hehe. 🍊🍂😄
Too funny – I love it! Your puns reminded me of my favorite Halloween joke…
Q. What did the skeleton say to the bartender?
A. Give me a beer. And a mop.
You are so clever! This is hysterical!!! I especially love the skeleton fish. I might have to try to find a few of these for my friends that love to fish. What a great prop!
I started laughing the minute I read you had a “friend” who was dying to meet folks. I just love this for several reasons. One, this is an adorable way to decorate your deck and two,, it reminds me of my Dad who was prone to things like this. Thanks so much for all your posts. They’re great, but the Halloween ones are just tooooo much…lol.
Oh Mary, I loved meeting Rod. I’m just wondering how he’s going to cook his bonefish. Do you have any recipes for bonefish? Ha ha ha thanks for the good laugh on this dreary, cold day in NM.
Oh my gosh…..this Rocks!!!!!!! I love the fish on the line lol…I have seen a dog but not the fish. Thanks for always making me smile and a mini getaway during my day.
I’ve heard that some people love fishing so much that they would rather fish than eat. This guy must really love fishing. He’s practically a skeleton! ( I know… GROAN ! )
Always love your posts. Brightest Blessings!
I got a huge kick out of this post. Loved the setting and all its perfections. Day after day, you continue to inspire with your creativity, designs, and messages. I would love to attend a class learning how to create like YOU!
🤣 too much fun Mary, I love the bone fish! I have a friend who’s husband used to tell her to just pour her beer in the toilet because it went through her so fast, just like Rod! I bet word spread fast among boaters to take a look at your dock! Last year I got a lot of lookers when my skellie was perched on the bench by the front door! I need to be sure he attends our next game day party, he probably wouldn’t eat too much!! Love the fishing cap on your Rod!!

So clever Mary…I love looking at Pinterest for great ideas. Everything is perfect in your happy halloween setting. You never cease to amaze.
Kari@meandmycaptain
This scene you created is very clever. Who would think to create, manufacture, and then sell fish skeletons??? As cute as this was, I also wanted to say I missed seeing and hearing what the two little cutie pies have been up to this week.
Love your fisherman. My husband put our skeleton in the back seat of our car and I completely forgot about him. We were stopped at a traffic light when i noticed the guys in the ambulance beside us laughing and pointing. I finally remembered the skeleton in the back seat. I rolled my window down and the guy was laughing so hard he could barely speak. I told him I had completely forgotten about Mr. Bones. The guy said he just glanced over and that was certainly not what he was expecting to see. We, like you, go for the rib-tickling instead of the spine-tingling. Hope you have a fa-boo-lous Halloween.
I laughed and laughed when I saw this! Another clever fun setting Mary! I was having breakfast at a restaurant in Astoria, Oregon and Rod Skellington’s cousin was sitting at the bar. Love the bone fish…..thanks for tickling my bones!
This is HILARIOUS! And the script is just as funny. I bet the boaters love seeing Rod out there. I know I would.
That’s a devoted fisherman! Great fun! 💀Clara
So fun!
Love him!!
That’s not scary, just too cute 💀. I know you had fun setting that up.
EEEK! I have to show this to my fishing and Halloween loving husband! He will have one by the dock by this afternoon! Thanks for the fun idea Mary!
Mary, You have the best ideas and the most holiday fun! I want to be your neighbor!
