Floral Friday: A Touch of Copper Fall Alfresco Tablescape

DSC_9434

Welcome to another edition of Floral Friday! I always look forward to some flower therapy and inspiration when I join my blogging friends on the first and third Fridays of the month!

You’ll find their links to their beautiful floral inspiration at the bottom of this post.

This week’s common theme was copper. When our fearless leader, Shirley, suggested copper as our theme, my first thought was that I would have to go shopping for a container. Then I remembered my copper wine chiller that I used a few years ago for a Fall Pontoon Picnic.

For a centerpiece for my fall table, I filled my copper wine bucket with the last of the hydrangeas, some alstroemeria from the grocery store and dahlias from the Farmers Market.

Fall is my favorite season and has been late to arrive in North Carolina. We finally had some beautiful crisp, cool fall weather last weekend, perfect for alfresco dining!

I filled some copper Moscow Mule mugs with flowers to serve as vases for mini bouquets of hydrangeas and mums at each placesetting.

I love the warm glow of copper, especially in fall~ whether it’s bright and shiny or tarnished by age with a warm and welcoming patina!

In a palette of tiger stripe pumpkins, a plaid throw provides a soft and warm foundation for the table. It’s layered over a matelassé coverlet as a tablecloth.

Hammered flatware provides an additional copper accent, while tree slice charges add some welcome texture to the table.

I’m late getting my containers planted for fall between the arrival of Hurricane Florence, Michael, and Hurricane Lola.

I added a pot of mums and some pumpkins to a summer container to give it a quick facelift and make the transition from summer to fall. Rather than planting the mums, I cheated and placed the pot in the center of the container, tucking it in among the foliage of the summer annuals and remaining blooms of the angelonia.

The pumpkins along with the foliage of sweet potato vine, fan flower and asparagus fern, help camouflage the pot. It will last for a couple of weeks until the mums are bloomed out and I have a chance to replant the containers with violas and ornamental kale.

Mary, your Floral Friday table is lovely. I love your copper container and flower choices. How wonderful to be able to buy dahlias at the Farmers Market. Dahlias have so much personality and add a special touch. Neat to have some hydrangeas left after two storms, too! The individual copper mules flowers add the perfect color tones to accent your other pieces.
Beautiful setting. The lake looks so serene and the trees look pretty for your fall setting.

Mary, the copper chiller is stunning. I would have never guessed it was a HG find. The flowers are arranged so artfully for your gorgeous tablesetting. The copper mules add another element to an already beautiful table. I agree with Bonnie, finding dahlias would be heavenly. Your picture perfect setting by the lake gives me all the feels. Beautiful as always, and I so enjoy sharing Floral Friday with you❤️ Have a wonderful weekend!

It’s so nice to revisit old friends, as in the copper pot you’ve brought out. I don’t remember meeting her, so it’s nice to get reacquainted. She’s a beauty! Your arrangements are always showstopping, Mary, and the small bouquets as place cards are just as lovely. I adore matelasse as table covers (and bed covers, too!), and your throw makes it cozy by the water. We’ve had but two nice days this week, so off to the garden I went, starting my cleanup. Our fall will be a few weeks shorter than yours, so I skipped the containers in the courtyard and went straight to cleaning things out. Yours are gorgeous as they are, situated among the summer remains.

So beautiful! I especially love the copper mugs overflowing with blooms. Gorgeous photos of another spectacular table! Enjoy your weekend!

Copper is so great in autumn vignettes. Love it intermingled with wicker baskets and trays. So nice to have fall like weather this week. Hard to believe it was in the 80s last week when we were in Beaufort N.C. and walking along the beach. Mother nature likes to fool with us

Oh Mary, I LOVE that copper ice bucket and the arrangement is beautiful. ALL of my hydrangeas are DONE, brittle and brown:( Your table is beautiful as it always is. Have a wonderful weekend and THANKS for always giving us the details of where you have gotten things. I am now looking for copper flatware:)

  25. October 19, 2018 at 11:21 pm

I love Shirley’s theme of copper. Like you, I find the warmth and glow perfect for fall. I found a lovely copper wine bucket at the Chatou Antique Market, but left it behind. I was very disciplined this trip about not buying anything that couldn’t fit in my bag.
I’ve waited to plant for fall as well. With all the rain we are having, the ground is too wet and the pots are not draining as the shoud. I’ve had to toss out several things. Not complaining about the rain though. We need it!

  26. October 20, 2018 at 6:21 am

Mary, Your flower arrangement and bucket are both bee-uitful! I agree with Donna, this is my favorite table of yours. Thank you for sharing your talents. Enjoy your fall weather and weekend. ♥

Thanks for all the beautiful pictures you so generously share. I especially love your purple and green hydrangeas. Is that a particular species or is it your soil that causes those colors? I’m finding hydrangeas challenging here in my new Florida garden but I would really like to try that one.

    • October 20, 2018 at 9:27 am

Thanks Marie, it’s the faded fall coloration of Endless Summer Hydrangea! Ours start out blue from the pH in the soil. :)

Perfectly lovely Mary, I just love the soft fall glow you have created! Your copper wine bucket is a great centerpiece, but my eyes kept going to the small copper Moscow Mule mugs of flowers, so adorable! Your soft color floral arrangement really compliments the shiny copper, so pretty!
