Winter Nesting Table with Cardinals and Snowmen

Are you staying warm and cozy? Like a lot of the US, we’re bracing for Arctic blast of cold air and a wintry mix today. Perfect weather to stay indoors and enjoy some winter nesting!

I set a table to enjoy the glow of our Winter Nesting Tree. It’s decorated with sparkling snowflakes, icy branches and pine cones, nesting birds and glittery bird nests. You can see more of the ornaments and tree, HERE.

Cardinals and snowmen have gathered at the table for some winter nesting. . .

Cardinals are perched on glittery, snow-dusted nests. . .

And flew in to light on the tablecloth and napkins, found at HomeGoods during a flurry of shopping in December.

Snowman mugs are ready to be filled with hot cocoa to keep us warm against the winter’s chill.

They rest on top of Pfaltzgraff Chateau salad plates~ the embossed design and round center medallion reminiscent of snowflakes. . .

And are framed by Woodland Berry chargers.

Twig flatware and rattan chargers add a woodland note. . .

And snowy white goblets are a nod to wintry weather and snow in the forecast.

Plates on top of inverted bowls, provide pedestals for a snowman teapot and cookie jar at the table.

Epsom salt adds some snowy and winter details, accented with pine cones and sprigs of evergreens.

A pine cone garland provides a runner on the table. Sprigs of evergreen are tucked among the garland, with cardinal ornaments perched along the length.

I took these cardinal photos several years ago. Cardinals provide such a cheery pop of red in a snowy landscape!

Watching the birds flock to the feeders is one of my favorite winter activities.

We keep our feeders filled year ’round but are especially diligent in winter and when there’s snow on the ground.

 Table Details:

Snowman mugs, teapot, cookie jar, Ridgefield Home / HomeGoods, last year

Envogue Holiday tablecloth and napkins / HomeGoods, December

Woodland Berry Chargers Williams-Sonoma, last year

Goblets / Kohl’s, several years ago

Hope you’re staying warm and cozy in your nest. ♥

Mary, Every time I see your winter nesting tree, I’m tempted to drag my Christmas tree back out and put it up. Note to self: leave up and redecorate next year! I love how you’re embracing the winter season. As always, your table is filled with beautiful and creative details. Stay warm! ♥

Just gorgeous Mary. I love those adorable snowmen mugs and teapot. I’m on a mission now to see if I can find some online for a friend that collects snowmen. Thank for the cheery start to my cold and gray day!

Absolutely exquisite! It is a dark and dreary day here in Upstate SC, and your table is a welcome and joyous burst of color. We have a lot of cardinals also, and yellow finches have been hitting the thistle hard too. Perfect day to snuggle with your pups!

Mary, your January winter nesting has provided so much eye candy! This tablescape is just beautiful with the snowmen mugs, cardinals, and the lovely tablecloth! The predicted snow did not happen here. The moisture came before the temps dropped. However, it is cold and windy! Enjoy your cozy nesting day!

Oh goodness Mary, cutest snowmen ever!! I can see why they hopped in your cart, and the cardinal is simply the icing on the cake, I mean snowman!! You are having so much fun with your Winter nesting, embracing the season! I have been complaining so much about Winter, I have finally convinced myself to relax and enjoy it, complaining only makes it worse! Even though the entire city shut down in preparation for the weather today, we didn’t get any snow…lots of disappointed children…but cold and rainy is a wonderful excuse to stay home and play! I hope you are safe and warm, with power on, your cheery snowman have made my day! Great idea for the pedestals too!

Beautiful tablescape Mary! Cardinals are always a winter favorite to watch as they fly from branch to branch. The table linens made my heart skip a beat! They would have flown into my basket as well. The woodland chargers match the table cloth perfectly. A cheery table on a cold winter day. Thanks for sharing! Clara

I 💕💕 your tablescapes but this one is a particular favorite. The cardinals absolutely make it a winner. My question is WHERE do you store all those beautiful items when not in use??

  24. January 29, 2019 at 12:59 pm

What a cheerful table you’ve created for this chilly day, Mary. The snowmen mugs, teapot and cookie jar are the cutest, happiest pattern. Of course, cardinals always add such beauty especially in the winter. I saw one just today on a branch of the tree that’s above my little waterfall….a visit from heaven!

I love winter! I love snow and the peacefulness of the season. Of course I don’t likecArctic Blasts–we’ve had a few here in Colorado but this one is missing us. Your tablescape is delightful and I love your special bird themed winter tree! All perfect ways to embrace winter!

What a perfect mix for this week’s weather, no matter where you are! Those chargers are great, and I like how the salad plates have both the white and brown – really looks like a winter garden plant. The cardinals are always a welcome sighting in winter, I agree. Stay cozy, Mary.

  29. January 29, 2019 at 5:33 pm

I loved everything! Those snowflake plates were perfect nestled against the berry woodland plates! And then the Snowman cups and teapot! What a beautiful wintry table too keep you warm from the elements!

Mr. Cardinal’s bright red suit is perfect against all the white fluffy snow and your table is a perfect tribute to him and Mr. Snowman. The chargers look like they were made to order for that awesome tablecloth…well, actually everything is a perfect match, the goblets, twig flatware and beautiful snowflake plates too! We received over a foot of the fluffy stuff yesterday and temps are dropping fast, right now 8 degrees and only 1 degree predicted for tomorrow with wind chill -30. Guess, I’ll bake some cookies, lol! ⛄

Who said snowy days weren’t cheerful? Not I! I love the cardinals. I wish we had them here but that is one bird that just doesn’t come West. I was in Indiana about two weeks ago and saw my first “in the flesh” cardinal. I was so excited!

Oh my goodness, dear Mary, this gorgeous Winter table is sooo full of eye candy and very inspiring !
I so love the cardinals and as I was scrolling down I said to myself: I shouldn’t put away my cardinal ornaments from the tree for setting a table too. Next time.
The snow and cardinals images are adorable ! When we lived in a farm we saw them a lot, my little daughters loved them !
The chargers and tablecloth are perfect together too. I loved this table.

Mary,if this cheerful table doesn’t brighten one’s day, I don’t know what would. Your snowmen mugs and tea pot are the cutest. I love the way you used the bowl and saucer to elevate! Clever!!! The woodland chargers are not in our dish cupboard, but sure wish they were. I missed those last year!
Our weather is wet and gray, but not all that cold. Hope you stay warm and don’t have any issues with power loss. Hugs to you and those cute fluffy girls.
