Celebrating the arrival of spring in anticipation of gardening season. Ball jar bouquets of hyacinths, tulips and iris provide spring blooms to pair with vintage transferware for some tabletop gardening in the Potting Shed.
Happy Monday! It’s happy week for us as there is sunshine without a drop of rain in sight in the forecast, in what seems like forever! Another reason to be happy –> Spring officially arrives on Wednesday! Spring has already “sprung” here in North Carolina, with the daffodils and forsythia in bloom, as well as the fruit trees~ cherry, pear and plum.
I’m happy to be joining my Monday Morning Bloom friends for a little flower therapy in anticipation of spring today. You’ll find my blogging friends’ links to their blooming creations at the bottom of this post.
Our theme for this edition of Monday Morning Blooms was ‘Spring Bulbs’!

I planted some hyacinths, tulips and iris in the Potting Shed for a little spring tabletop gardening!
If spring had a smell it would be hyacinths!
I cut some hyacinths to enjoy their wonderful fragrance and planted some Johnson Brother Garden Bouquets for some blooming tabletop fun!
In anticipation of gardening season, watering can napkin rings are sprinkled on the table, joining blooming gardening tools, a hand fork and spade, functional, but too pretty to use!
More hyacinths join tulips from the grocery store to fill mason jars.
Hyacinths are blooming in a favorite urn, topped with moss.
The hyacinths bulbs will be planted in the garden after they’ve finished blooming to enjoy next spring.
A galvanized ‘Fresh Flower Market’ sign is hanging above the Potting Shed window. . .
Check back in May when the roses and peonies are in bloom!
A basket of flowers from Clarice Cliff Charlotte provide some purple blooms. . .
Tulips and the last of the forsythia, add a pop of sunny yellow color, in contrast to the bluish/purple of the hyacinths.
Johnson Brothers ‘Sheraton’ is another blooming favorite in my garden of dishes.
Vintage flatware is blooming and planted in garden gloves, in celebration of the spring gardening season.
Vintage-inspired seed packet postcards are displayed on flower frogs. . .

I have been thinking about you all week, glad you have so much beauty to surround you. Spring finally cracked the door this week, but two more weeks of rain due mid week, it’s pure joy glimpsing color again! I adore urns filled with flowers, and all your pretty touches. I think I have your sign some where, probably rusting in all our rain!
I love to come to your potting shed for tabletop and flower fun, Mary. This is all so inviting. I just love the spring mix of bulbs you’re sharing. My peony survived the winter, and the daylilies are also sprouting….they’re awaiting transplant. ;)
Mary, it feels so good to be back in your potting shed! I can imagine when you open the door the fragrance is amazing. Your blooming plates add so much beauty to all of the delightful spring bulbs…tulips, hyacinths, and iris! I would be so happy to sit and enjoy all of the spring color at your table. We are supposed to be rain free this week, what a welcome change, but frost could happen in the morning. I hope my snowballs and Lady Banks won’t be impacted. I’m ready for that Spring smell of the Spring flowers!! Dishes!! I could talk about dishes all day!! Love them all! I wish I had a set of the Johnson ones but have never been able to afford..but last year, I splurged and bought the Lenox Butterfly Meadow..I just love them…as soon as it was March, I put my transfer ware away and brought out the Lenox!! Can’t wait to see the remainder of the Flower hop!! 🌸🌺💐🌼🌻🌿🌾

Mary, just the thought of your hyacinths are filling my senses with delight. I need to make a trip to Trader Joe’s today to see if they have some in stock. It is still nippy here, but the sun is out. I hope to pot some double white impatients I found yesterday. Rarely find the double whites, so I bought all they had. Still need two more to complete the bed, but it’s a start. Thanks as always for the inspiration for spring. Tulips and hyacinths make my day. Add in beautiful dishes and you’ve hit it out of the ballpark! Charlotte is a favorite pattrn here. I have a few pieces of china pattern called June by Royal Staffordshire with similar purple (almost) flowers styled like yours. I’ll be adding them to my spring table, but I think it can go w autumnal colors as well
Mary, Mary, how your garden grows! Love the spring flower display in our favorite garden shed. I can almost smell those beautiful hyacinths! I checked my flower bed that has the most spring flowers and sure enough , I see a few little green sprouts poking through! Makes me do a happy dance! We are pleased for the mid 40 degree weather we will be having this week! A real delight for Michiganders this time of year when we typically could have snow. Can you share where you got all the cast iron (or what looks like cast iron) stuff – bunnys, birds urns, etc…? Are they antiques, garage sale finds, or from places like Pottery Barn?
