Happy National Flag Week! This week-long observance leading up to Flag Day on June 14th, commemorates the adoption of the U.S. flag, paying tribute to the banner that waves above us all.
Americans are encouraged to observe Flag Day and National Flag Week, so I’m waving the flag from the archives and celebrating the Stars & Stripes with a little giveaway!
Old Glory’s official history dates back to June 14, 1777, when the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution establishing America’s banner.
The U.S. flag has gone through an evolution of 26 changes before it became the iconic symbol that it is today, proudly flying with 13 stripes and 50 stars, to represent the original 13 colonies and all 50 states.
In celebration, I’m sharing some Stars & Stripes and Ball Jar Love with a little giveaway!
In addition to the classic Ball logo, Stars & Stripes Keepsake Jars feature a stars and stripes embossment, adding a patriotic touch to your canning, storage, beverage, and décor creations, ideal for family picnics and patriotic celebrations.
Ball Jars have been made in USA since 1884, another thing to celebrate!
To celebrate the Red, White and Blue, I put together a little patriotic vignette with transferware and Ball jar bouquets on a window shelf in the Potting Shed.
A vintage flower frog is supporting American flags. . .
While other flags are waving from Stars & Stripes bouquets.
Celebrate the Stars & Stripes with Berry Trifles!
These no-bake mason jar desserts are an easy and delicious way to celebrate the Red, White and Blueberry!
Ball Stars & Stripes Jars are filled with flowers and patriotic treats, topped mini American flags for an easy 4th of July centerpiece.

While I have Ball jars for pickles, I would use the Stars and Stripes Ball jars for flowers and treats. The jars are so versatile and I like the casual effect.
Thank you Mary for this patriotic giveaway and reminder of Flag Week! I’m a long time follower and love all your creative ideas, tables and sweet Potting Shed! If I was one of your lucky winners, I would use the jars for flowers for our outdoor tables for our 4th of July celebration! 🇺🇸🌺
I pinned the full photo of your Stars and Stripes Ball Jars display in your potting shed. I pinned this photo under Flowers and Transferware on my Pinterest account. Thank you!
Pinned your beautiful flag arrangement and red, white and blue display to my “Long May She Wave” board! 🇺🇸
Perfect for rooting cuttings by the sunny kitchen window!
Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue!!! You always me no matter what the holiday or season Mary! Love what you’ve shown with these Stars and Stripes Jars. I’ve been a follower for many years now and always look forward to your posts. I would use the jars for serving lemonade or a sweet dessert like your berry trifles. So many ways to use these jars, thanks for the chance to win!
I’m flying my flags outside from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. I subscribe. Gail TF
I love all of your patriotic displays. They are so pretty. And, yes, I would love to win the stars and stripes Ball jars. I would use them for a red, white, and blue–m arrangement.
Pinned your patriotic collage and beautiful watermelon vase table! Thanks again for the giveaway! 🇺🇸🍉🌼💙🇺🇸
Wonderful for storing dry goods in the pantry so the flags can be a reminder all year long!
Always love your posts! I would use the Ball jars for flowers and displaying seashells.
I use Ball jars for desserts, flowers, cut herbs, leftovers and storage for dry goods like chocolate chips and pasta noodles. I love your posts!
So much to love here Mary! You make want to run to the attic and pull out our bunting and party flags! If I was a lucky winner I would use your jars for flowers for the 4th.🇺🇸 They would make great storage jars in the pantry for dry goods in the off season! Thank you for the giveaway, I’m a happy follower!
Love, Love, Love this post.
Pinned your patriotic table and centerpiece and Stars & Stripes bouquets!
I love the use of the flower frog!! Now on the hunt for one. So clever. I pinned 4 or 5 pins to my boards, Clever Ideas (the frog), Transferware (I have all of those dishes too), Terrific Tabletops, and Pictures That Tickle My Fancy. Beautiful photos-all! God bless the red, white and blue!
I knew June 14th was Flag Day but I didn’t know the flag went through 26 different versions first.
“It’s a Grand Old Flag”
Canning or desserts for a dinner party. Love them!
I would use them for picnics — pasta salad, dessert, etc. My husband and I both enjoy picnics and one of our favorite things to do is throw a lunch in the cooler and just head out to an area we have never been before, enjoy the ride, the scenery, whatever else we encounter and then just find a spot to enjoy our picnic. Your beautiful vignettes and recipes are always an inspiration. Thanks.
Hi! I love scrolling through your posts…my faves are patriotic ones. I use ball jars for crafts, weddings, storage in my cupboards…love cupcake wrappers they are so colorful! I love desserts in them…we made individual ones for Thanksgiving in the short square jars last year. So fun. And of course…for flower bouquets of every kind! Thanks for all the great inspirational photos!
I love anything with red, white and blue and you had me at the title of this post. I started pinning your pics to my ‘Americana’ file on Pinterest before you said to pin. Love the American-made Ball jars and they are used here for everything from leftovers to flowers to lemonade or iced tea. What a wonderful first read this Monday morning. Thank you Mary.
What a lovely post! I love the ball jars! They would make a terrific addition to my pair of 1776 commemorative ball jar mugs. Then I could use them all as drinking glasses when I set my dining table. What great conversation pieces they would be and a reminder of the privilege we have to live in this country!!
Mary.. have long been following you and have broken the bank with all your wonderful ideas.. thanks for sharing. We fly our ‘OleGlory’ everyday to remind us and all passing that Freedom is Not Free! We have went through many flags in the 38 years of marriage and turn the tattered ones over to the local VFW. They in turn have the proper ceremony in conjunction with the Boy Scouts to destroy them. Thanks for the great ideas and keep them coming!
Love the jars! I would use them for serving strawberry shortcake to guests on our deck overlooking the Ozark Mountains at our hundred year old condo in Fayetteville, AR. I have red-handled flatware and red and white check tablecloths and can seat 25 people on the deck for a patriotic event! At night I would use them as table decorations by putting tiny battery powered lights in them so they would make the designs sparkle!
These are really pretty. Would be great for display on the table or some really good strawberry jam
WOW!! I would love to add those Patriotic Ball Jars to my collection…although I have many other Ball jars that I use for canning..I use my collector jars for treats, flowers, crafts or just as some color in a display! I proud to live in the State that produced a lot of Ball Jars…INDIANA!! Flag week is celebrated widely here, at least at our home it is! Thanks for the extra ideas on some uses….and long May she wave!!! Good luck everyone! 🇺🇸🍀🇺🇸🍀🇺🇸🍀🇺🇸
We spend all summer holiday weekends at our lake house on Table Rock Lake in Missouri, so our house is full of Red, White and Blue. I would use these jars for holding everything from desserts to candles that glow on our deck to the fireflies my grandchildren catch.
Just letting you know that I pinned my favorite!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’m also a FOLLOWER and subscribe by email..🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I enjoy your beautiful blog. I would love to have the jars for flowers from my garden.
I posted one of your photos to pinterest
Mary, what a beautiful tribute to our flag, long may she wave over our country! What a nice and generous giveaway! Have a wonderful week!
What a great tribute to our flag! I already have these mason jars so I’ll exclude myself from the giveaway. 🇺🇸
Good morning, Mary. You are always so generous with your giveaways and sharing your creative ideas! I would use the Ball jars for food, drinks and flowers. I am an email subscriber. Not only are your posts beautiful they are also informative. Thanks so much and have a great FLAG week!
What a great tribute to our flag! I already have these mason jars so I’ll exclude myself from the giveaway. 🇺🇸
I love to use canning jars to display different shapes of pasta in my kitchen. If I won the flag jars I would probably use them for flowers and flags on my kitchen table and the table on my porch. What a fun contest!!
I LOVE Mason jars, and live to collect them. I always decorate for the Patriotic holidays as my husband is a veteran of the Gulf War and we love our country! I think I would copy your idea of the floral arrangements:) They are so pretty!!!
I would use the jars for vases and also for the desserts that you posted. I made the dessert, last year for Memorial Day and they were a HIT! Wish I could send you a picture…..
I am also going to start growing some broccoli seed sprouts, (for the health benefits), that I have ordered. The screen lids are on their way….
I am also making my own ghee, since the store prices are too expensive.
Thank you for another beautiful and thoughtful post! I would utilize the Ball Jars for your Berry Trifle (a gluten free version) and flowers! I pinned your Stars & Stripes bouquets and more!
We fly an illuminated flag 24/7…also, my hubs birthday, June 14th!! Long may she wave!! franki
Good Morning Mary, Oh my, how would I use the Patriotic Ball Jars so many ways. Most likely the next time our Community Independent Day is celebrated at our house, I will put red, white and blue flowers and flags in them on tables. So count me in. The last time we hosted it I used many of your ideas to decorate as well as giving sparklers to all of the children. They had so much fun with them. I am an email subscriber and pinned the berry trifle recipe to my sweets board. I do have a question on another matter. I loved your Black Eyed Susan vine so much that I bought one, problem is great vine but not many flowers, Wpuld you recommend phosphorus? Thanks
Hi Virginia, Try using some Miracle-Gro Bloom Booster on your vine and see if that does the trick: https://homeiswheretheboatis.net/2018/06/20/bees-butterflies-and-blooms-around-the-potting-shed/
I love the decor of the patriotic holidays. I need to acquire more of the beautiful red and blue colors in my Collection of treasures. Oh my! a good excuse for a hunting trip to antique stores and flea markets…. Off i go…..
I love canning jars and although it may seem blase compared to fixing deserts and making flower arrangements my favorite use is still to can in them. I know its old fashion but I still believe one of the prettiest sites of summer is a long row of freshly canned fruits and vegetables. This summer I want to try canning homemade pie filling rather than freezing the mixture.
Beautiful as always Mary.
Love Ball jars, especially the vintage one I have many. Love them of course for canning my tomatoes (and I still can tomatoes. I’m a dying breed).
But I also use them as flower vases and storage.
Thanks for introducing this collection to us and your giveaway.
I live your patriotic spirit, Mary, and the jar giveaway is wonderful of you. I think they make charming vases, but I use them for canning jam and for other things. I’ll be copying your pretty red, white and blue arrangement after my tea party flowers die. Thank you for your inspiration. 😘🇺🇸😘
Thank you for hosting the giveaway. Beautiful pictures as always! I would use the jars to put candy in for my chocoholic granddaughter and of course for flowers. Happy Flag Day!
What a patriotic post!!! I love all your pics!!! I would use the Ball Jars for that trifle dessert as you had pictured. Now to get my flag decor out…thank YOU for the ideas!!!
Great to know so many decorate with red, white and blue. I have all mine out for the entire summer.
I pinned several items to my boards- Summer Breeze and In the Kitchen-Desserts and Goodies. The Berry Trifles recipe was a plus because I was looking for a new desserts to make for summer cookouts beside the normal flag strawberry poke cake. I think everyone will love having them served from mason jars instead of the normal paper plate dessert. Thanks so much for that idea!
I would absolutely love new Stars and Stripes Ball jars to add to my collection. I use my jars year round for decorating with flowers ( I have the green, blue and purple sets along with several unique ones I have found here and there). These would look fantastic along with my blue ones on my mantel and on my porch table in my milk crate.
Thanks also for the continued galvanized tray ideas. You inspired me with another post to get one and decorate at the same time with all my seasonal items. Gives new life to my table besides just flowers or a bowl of fruit.
I couldn’t wait for the give-a-way. I saw the stars and stripes jars at Walmart while traveling and scooped them up.
Hooray for the red white and blue! The ball jars are so fun! I love to store snacks and cookies and just about anything in the large jars, they keep food fresh for so long! Fun flag facts, wonderful patriotic eye candy, and a perfect start to National Flag Week!
Jenna
I love using ball jars for flowers and my button collection
Hi Mary! You always outdo yourself for patriotic holidays :) Longtime subscriber, and I just gotta say–you need another puppy! You know Bichons always come in pairs….
I use Ball jars for making jams and give them away to neighbors and friends on the 4th. Love their designs and I always get a good seal.
your posts are ALWAYS a treat… they make my day…Thx so much for sharing your creativity.. For starters, SWEET TEA in the Ball jars while sitting in a rocker on my porch.. pure summer time in the south…
Thank you for hosting the giveaway! I think I’d use the patriotic bell jars for the Berry Trifle. Looks so yummy!
Wow, I would use the jars for a host of things, for flowers, triffle, flags, candy, etc.! What a beautiful post! Happy flag day!
So pretty! I would use these jars for storage – can never have enough! Thank you for hosting.
I am a long time follower also.
I saved your beautiful picture to my Tabletop Love Pinterest board.
I am a long time follower and subscriber and I would use these jars to try to reproduce some of the gorgeous decorating ideas you have just shared with us. I adore your tablescapes and vignettes and enjoy trying to reproduce them at home for my loved ones. Have a great day!
Beautiful and awesome ideas!
Hi Mary> I am a longtime fan! I love ball jars!! I use them for drinks such as iced tea, mimosas, sangria or punch. I use them for decor with flowers, flags, succulents, jar filler, feathers, and anything else I can think of. I have occasionally used them for treats or even desserts. I need to try a salad sometime. I have used jars for favors filled with orange butter, strawberry butter, treats, dog bones, plants, treats and again anything else I can think of. It all depends on the need or the season. I was thinking of a fireworks type of decoration for this one. I have not seen these jars yet. They are very fun and somewhat subtle. Thanks for all your ideas!
I pinned the pic of the Ball jars & the pic of the
al fresco table covered in that cute paisley print cloth that looks like a bandana. It’s pinned to my “Independence Day” board. I’m always on the lookout for anything red, white & blue, and any patriotic decor. I have a great fondness for Ball jars. There are many, from gallon size to pint size, on open shelves in my craft/sewing room serving as storage, as well as adding a decorative touch. I also use Ball jars for vases, planting succulents, storing pasta & beans, holding eating utensils, as drink glasses, serving desserts, and especially for the purpose they were originally made – canning. I love that satisfying popping sound made as the lids seal on my homemade salsa, veggies, relishes and jellies! I would be delighted to receive the new version of the Stars & Stripes Ball Jars. Thank you for the opportunity. I so enjoy reading your blog – the recipes, the decor inspiration, the sweet pup pics, and all the eye candy in your beautiful photos of your tablescapes, landscapes, and that darling garden shed. Keep it all coming!
Mary, my patriotic loving heart is singing with this wonderful post full of flags and red, white, and blue. My home looks like an Uncle Sam Convention. I’ve collected Uncle Sam folk art pieces and flags for decades. I promise I’ve not added one new one this year! If I see one that catches my eye, he ask to come to the annual convention, and of course I say YES! Lady Liberty jumped in too over the years. You know we can’t descriminate on gender, so we allow them to join the convention. I’ll be posting on IG everyday this week, to celebrate National Flag Week. My younger brother was born on Flag Day, so that’s a celebration too!
Happy National Flag Week!!!!
For the summer holiday season I would use them for flower arrangements and small U. S. flags for the porch. I think some patriotic pie filling would also be appropriate canned in the jars as a hostess gift. A triple berry pie filling using strawberries or cherries, blackberries, and blueberries would echo the patriotic theme. I love your blog! Thanks for sharing your creativity!
Mary, This is a beautiful post! I love your tablecloth; it’s a favorite! Have a great week! Clara
We fly the flag every day except when the weather is bad. Today it’s raining here, so there are small flags in the flowerpot in the entry way. I can so Ball jars are a staple here. I’m lucky enough to have some that belonged to my husband’s grandmother. These are used as decoration holding any things from flowers, flags, buttons, small decorative eggs. I can’t imagine my kitchen without Ball jars. Can’t wait to get the new ones.
Thanks for a lovely post. Fly the flag, folks, it’s meant to be seen.
I would use the jars as flower vases!
I also pinned one of the pictures to my Red White & Blue board
Red white and blue sand or pasta, topped with a tea candle. Love your site,
Love the Red, White and Blue. Ball Jars are always great with flowers.
Your blog is always a bright spot in my day! Thank you for all your wonderful ideas. I too love to fly our flag. I would use the Ball jars for decoration on the Fourth and every other American patriotic holiday.

I would use one as a flower vase and would share the others with neighbors and put goodies in them! I receive your emails and follow you on FB as well. Thank you for the nice opportunity! Love this post
I would use them in centerpieces for my husband’s upcoming Navy Retirement ceremony and celebration.
What a beautiful post Mary! We love our flag and the freedom it stands for. I use my jars to hold buttons, pasta, chocolate chips, dried cranberries, dog treats, flowers, small flags as a centerpiece and of course for canning. Since I was a former winner of the beautiful blue vintage jars you gave away a few years back , I’ll pass, but say thank you again as I love them and smile each time I use them and think of you! Horray for the red, white and blue! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love your patriotic post, Mary!!! I gave birth to my son on Flag Day!!! Every year, we display little flags with his birthday decorations. Some years, the theme is red, white, and blue with flag plates, napkins, etc. I would use those jars in his birthday/Flag Day decor. I would also use them to can my homemade strawberry jam. I love Ball jars! :)

I would use these for table décor. They are so cute, I wouldn’t want to hide them in the pantry! Pinned…
I would use the ball jars for both storage, decorative storage and flowers. I am so excited that flag week finally arrived, with the fourth not far behind. I have been collecting red, white and blue decorations for my year for a long time. I can hardly wait to deck this place out.

Beautiful as always!
I’m off to make a trifle… just for me!
Oh by the way… I fly two Flags outside my LakeHouse… All summer! And I pinned the trifle to my desserts board.
How gorgeous you did a beautiful job! I am a beekeeper so I would fill them with honey and then decorate them for each holiday throughout the year as I refill the jars with honey for eating and then I would also enjoy how I decorated with them. .. again I just LOVE how you decorated with them now I am thinking of all kinds of ideas :)
Oh how I love the red white and blue!! And oh that transfer ware..I have the liberty blue dishes and use them as my everyday dishes!! I even have a white farm sink with a Navy scrolled design!! If I won these jars I would add them to my newly renovated kitchen and fill them with flowers and flags!! I love ball jars!! Thank you for always inspiring, sharing and for this raffle!
I would use them for desserts, iced tea & flowers! Love them!
I have used Ball jars for so many things but especially decorating since I graduated from Ball State University many years ago. They never go out of style. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in sharing these beautiful new ideas.
Thank you so much for your giveaways and ideas. I would definitely serve those mini berry trifles in those jars.
Oh my goodness! So cute. Definitely would do some red, white and blue sand with sparklers. So many other ideas also. Thanks for the chance to win.
Hi, Mary! I love your blog, but have never commented before. I especially love your patriotic posts. My whole downstairs is decorated in Americana from the time the Easter decorations get put away till the Halloween decorations come out. I have some of the same things you have – my “Liberty Blue” dishes are displayed on my dining room hutch, I just bought the Pfalzgraff “Americana” flatware at Christmas Tree Shops the week before Memorial Day and have it on my dining room table with my Coventry “Liberty” dishes. I also have the melamine star shaped plates you have on your tiered tray. I have some small red and blue star shaped wax melts (that I never melt!) in one of my Liberty Blue berry bowls, but I think they would look great in a Ball jar, although I’m sure my grandchildren would think it was much better to have a jar filled with red, white & blue M&Ms!
Thanks for all of your wonderful posts. You are so creative, and I get a lot of ideas on new ways to use things I already have and, of course, lots of things you make me want to run out and buy!
Linda D.
What a lovely idea! Love the idea of putting some M & M in the jars but then hiding a little cashola in the center center for my tweenage Grandsons. I’m sure they would love it. Thanks for the great ideas!
I posted the Berry Truffle recipe to Pinterest!

Hi Mary – Happy Flag Day!! Loving the Stars and Stripes Ball Jars. I always have a family cookout for the Fourth and can think of many uses for the Ball Jars but I think I would probably use them to make a special fancy red, white and blue dessert with pudding, Grahams and patriotic m&m’s and whipped cream and rwb sprinkles ! Hi, Mary. SInce I am an avid marble collector, I would use the jars with layers of red, white, and blue marbles–in the den and breakfast room. I would add flags to the marbles and tie on a gingham ribbon, for a simple decoration/centerpiece! I live alone, but always try to have a nice table scape even if it is just for one.
