Celebrate summer’s last hurrah with this easy, crowd-pleasing dessert over Labor Day weekend.
Your family and friends will never guess how ridiculously easy these peach dumplings are to make!
Ridiculously Easy Peach Dumplings are a quick and easy dessert,
perfect for the lazy days of summer or to enjoy over Labor Day weekend!
This recipe is an oldie but a goodie and variation of an apple dumplings recipe that I shared back in 2012 –>
who knew I would still be blogging all these years later?!
They are as delicious and as they are easy to make, and with a prep time of less than 10 minutes,
ready for the oven. And oh the aroma while they are baking. . . like the Cinnabon store!
If you’re not familiar with these ridiculously easy dumplings,
the ingredients list may surprise you:
crescent roll dough, a can of ginger ale, sugar, butter, vanilla, cinnamon,
and last but not least, peaches.
We had some friends share their Mac’s Pride Peaches with us from McLeod Farms,
family owned and operated since 1916, located in McBee, South Carolina.
These peaches are the ‘Big Red’ variety, available from mid-to-late August,
and are sweet and juicy as well as big and red, like their namesake!
As you’ve already guessed from the ingredient list, this is not a low calorie recipe,
but my rationale is that peach season comes around but once a year!
The original recipe for apple dumplings recipe they’re based on,
calls for 1 cup butter (2 sticks) and 1 1/2 cups sugar. I reduced the butter to 3/4 cup butter
(1 1/2 sticks) and cut back the sugar to 1 cup. To reduce calories further,
use reduced fat crescent rolls and substitute SPLENDA® sugar blend.
You can also use diet ginger ale.
Ridiculously Easy Peach Dumplings
Makes 16 dumplings
Ingredients
2 cans Crescent Rolls
16 peach slices (if your peaches are small, use 2 peach slices per crescent roll triangle or 32 slices)
3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2/3 of a 12 oz. can Ginger Ale (or citrus soda of choice)
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Slice peaches so you have 16 large slices. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
Starting at the largest end, roll a peach slice in a crescent roll triangle and place in baking dish.
Don’t worry if your peach slice isn’t completely covered by dough.
Melt butter in microwave safe bowl or Pyrex measuring cup.
Add sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract, stirring well to combine.
Pour over top of the peach dumplings.
Pour 2/3 of a can of ginger ale between the dumplings and along edge of pan
so the sugar / butter mixture stays on top of dumplings.
Bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Mary, I love this – have peaches/need crescent rolls – added to the shopping list! You are up very early!
Hi Ann, We’re early birds not night owls. ;) Enjoy 🍑
Can you use frozen peaches?
I fixed this tonight it turned out great and was an all around hit! Will definitely make it again!
Glad it was a hit and thanks for letting me know! :)
My husband brought home some peaches from Candor,S C. and I have just enough left to make these dumplings for tonight’s dessert. I love the apple version so can’t wait to taste these. Have a great Labor Day weekend.
They’re oh so good Kathy! Enjoy! 🍑
Need to make these while peaches are in season! Yummy!
KEAN!!! franki
These look delicious! Happy Labor Day Mary! Clara ❤️
Can I use frozen peaches?
Yes make sure they’re thawed first.
Mary, do you find the ginger ale makes a difference? I have always used sprite. I love this recipe and so does my family.. Happy Wednesday!
Hi Pam, we like the ginger flavor with peach, plus we always have some on hand in the fridge but any citrus flavor soda would work. 🍑❤️
Good Morning Mary, this sounds heavenly. I will be forwarding your recipe to my daughter and daughter-in-law. They both make my peach cobbler recipe and am sure they will love this. I have prepared apples in a similar way but am certain you would improve it. Thanks for another awesome recipe
Mary, those peach dumplings look delicious and worth every calorie.
On you have me salivating early! I can’t eat peaches, the fuzz is like nails on a chalkboard to me, can’t even touch them, that is why i LOVE nectarines and eat them daily all summer. So glad you mentioned apples, I have some fully loaded trees just waiting to pop in the oven!
WoW! You Southern girls! Seltzer? It looks ah-maz-ing! We’ve big beautiful peaches here in the markets of Northern California, annnd, I think I will give this recipe a try. After all, yesterday I made my first icebox cake! (Who would ever believed crackers?!?) Isn’t dessert the definition of “Calorie”?
I’ve been a fond reader of your blogs for absolute years now. I hope you keep it up. You seem like an extremely talented friend to me. Ta Mary, you are brilliant!
YUM! Peach Cobbler!!!! I love McCleod Farms! I stop there on the way to visit my daughter who goes to school in Florence. BIG Meats; located on the same property as McLeod Farms is also awesome – beautiful cuts of meat and they have a small restaurant concession with the best burgers and hand cut fries in town. It makes my trip to Florence and back more enjoyable.
Sounds wonderful! A recipe worthy of my Southern memories. Thanks for sharing!
I have never seen this recipe and I love it!! I am going to try it today. We actually have good peaches in Arizona.
I love your blog and follow it incessantly. Thanks for all the good ideas!
I have done this using apples and never thought of using peaches! Looks amazing and hope to try this soon!
Have a fabulous day Mary!
Well YUM! I am definitely making these, and I like Shirley’s idea of using apples too. Can’t wait to try this recipe!
Thanks, Mary!
Oh my! This looks oh, so good! We’ve been delayed for our trip up north, but hope to leave tomorrow and there is an awesome fresh market up there. Hope she has peaches and I will make this! Love your recipes Mary and this sure does looks easy with great returns! YUM! Happy Labor Day! When I get back, I’ll be canning tomatoes. 😄
Will print recipe.
My stomach is growling.
I can smell them baking, making the house smell homey too.
Happy Labor Day.
I’ve had the Apple version. Mary, and I’m sure these are equally as delicious with the peaches 🍑. I’ll bet your kitchen did smell heavenly. Thanks for sharing the updated recipe and the lower calorie tips.
This looks so good, i have had the apple version and the peach will be great for this weekend! Thank you and have a nice Labor Day weekend!
Yum! The “apple version” is one of Jack’s faves… I will have to see if he likes this peach version when he comes home from school! Hugs & Treats to Lola & Sophie…. See you soon! LL
I just got back from a weekend trip to Palisade. I have way too many peaches (if that’s such a thing). This looks like just the answer!
Oh Mary! My mouth is watering! We just got back from a few days away and I am going shopping tomorrow so WILL get the ingredients. Can’t wait to try them! Thanks!!!!
Love the gingerale Mary! I have a similar recipe that pairs the peach dumplings with almonds…I need to hurry and make these while I can still get peaches, the kids would love them!
Jenna
Should I peel the peach?
It’s up to you…if you don’t object the peel, leave it, it’s less work that way. 🍑
Oh, Nummy —Mary, love your concoction for the sauce!
YUM YUM! Can’t wait to try as soon as I finish these 10 thousand tomatoes!! I keep telling my self that I will miss all these tomatoes in January when the ones in the stores are actually baseballs (I hope I remember how good these are/were)…anyway, I can’t wait to try this recipe….and apple season is coming fast…
We have been enjoying cool temps, sunny days and the rain we needed…we feel lucky!!
Hmmm, I brought South Carolina peaches with me from Georgia, to Fort Walton Beach Florida, for a long weekend….but my intentions are for fresh peach margaritas!! Upon returning to Georgia, if my favorite roadside fruit stand still has SC peaches, I am certainly going to make these! I loved the blueberry peach crumble cobbler you shared! Thank You!
This recipe is the best I’ve ever tried and made
I’m so glad, thanks for letting me know! 🍑
What is the ingredients for the Apple version?
The very same, just substitute sliced Granny Smith apple for the peach.
I made these peach dumplings last night. They were absolutely delicious. When I pulled them out of the over they smelled incredible. It was a perfect desert for a summer night. It is an easy recipe but the results are outstanding. Everyone loved them.
Thanks for letting me know Debbra, I’m glad they were a hit! :)
Happy laborless day to you, supposedly we will be near 110 degrees until tuesday, I will be thinking of your lake life often 😢
such a wild recipe with soda!
Looks yummy! We love anything peaches so, I’d love to try this recipe!
Looks so good but is it at all possible to use can peaches instead of real ones. ?
I have recieved an answer from you asking me to go look at another recipe if I remember correctly. If not again will ask can one use a can of peaches instead of real peaches? Do you have to use a can of soda as well? Thank you for your respones.
Hi, I haven’t use canned peaches but I’m assuming if you drain them well it would work fine. It does work great with fresh apple slices so you might consider substituting apple for fresh peaches. You would still add the soda to the recipe.
This dish looks amazing!! I’m wondering? Does the liquid not make the crescent rolls soggy?? TIA!!
Hi Joanna, No, it makes a sauce to spoon over the dumplings and ice cream. :)
Hi, These sound delish but I cannot get hold of crescent rolls,
Do you have a recipe for it?
Thanks 🙂
Hi, If you don’t have access to crescent rolls, you could try refrigerated pie dough or there is a recipe for crescent rolls here: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/buttery-crescent-rolls/
Thank you so much!
I’m so excited to try this! I will be making this recipe this Labor Day weekend. I make an apple dumpling recipe very similar to this one but is requires Mountain Dew instead. Like you, I think ginger pairs well with peaches, so I can’t wait to use ginger ale. Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi. I just made this and I feel like my bottoms are soggy. Not sure if I did something wrong, or they are supposed to be that way. Tops are beautiful. Bottom is soft, in fact…. I’m not even sure the bottoms are done. Any ideas?
Sounds delicious. Can you use bourbon instead on the ginger ale?
Hi, You could add a ¼ cup (2 oz.) of bourbon and then add 4 – 6 oz. of ginger ale or lemon- lime soda. You want to add 6 – 8 oz. of liquid for the syrup. Any more than ¼ cup of bourbon and I would think it would be too boozy. :)
Awesome and easy! My husband and I enjoyed every bite. I made a half recipe for just the 2 of us. Still have lots left over. Any hint at how to store? We will definitely finish them tomorrow! Fall is here and apples sound yummy too…
Thank you for sharing!
