Happy Friday! Can you believe it’s almost September?
Autumn is my favorite season and after the sweltering heat of summer, I’m counting down the days to fall and ready for a harvest of apples, leaves, pumpkins!
Easy DIY Fall Harvest Arrangement
While there is still plenty of summer ahead of us in North Carolina, I’m making a fall bucket list!
I always look forward to a little retail therapy at the beginning of the season! A visit to HomeGoods is just what the doctor ordered to escape the heat and to see what’s in store. . .
It’s a pumpkin palooza! Every color, size and shape imaginable. . .
Aqua pumpkins. . .
Sparkling, blingy and glass pumpkins. . .
Floral pumpkins. . .even a little unicorn pumpkin on the second shelf. ;)
There’s a beautiful harvest of pillows available now, most in the $16 – $19 range.
I cackled with glee when I spied all the Halloween goodies already in HomeGoods. . . <|;>)
It must mean the witching hour is almost near!
I love that there is plenty of Halloween decor at HomeGoods that’s more fun than frightening. . .
To help keep the “Happy” in Halloween!

Witches and skellies and ghosts . . .oh my . . .
It has me thinking about what kind of spooky fun and spine-tingling adventures Rod Skellington might be up to this year!

Hallow Apothecary plates are in stock again this year. . .time to dust off your cauldron. . .

The Witching Hour Halloween Apothecary Table
You can find an assortment of turkey plates in stock at T.J. Maxx for your Thanksgiving feast. . .
I added a couple of new “Toms” to my collection. . . you have to buy them early before they’re gobbled up! In addition to the wheat and floral border, I loved the farm scene with the barn, windmill and sheaves of wheat in the background behind the turkeys.
Churchill Royal Wessex Thanksgiving Turkey plates were $4.99, hard to resist when a new plate is the same price as a Pumpkin Spice Latte! ☕ Instead of having a complete set of dinnerware for Thanksgiving, I like to mix and match, so this new “Tom” will join the others at the table this Thanksgiving.

Your lovely pictures have really gotten me in the mood to decorate! But first…retail therapy! ;)
Mary, I am sitting in our family room with my coffee making mental notes on what I need to do to make a gradual change to autumn decor. My husband was thrilled when I mentioned changing out the rug and artwork. Someone suggested clearing out all of summer and just leaving everything blank for a few days. Sounds good to me. Enjoy these beautiful N.C. weather we are having. It was actually chilly out on the porch but I love it.
I enjoyed some retail therapy at Home Goods myself this week! Picked up some Thanksgiving dessert plates for our big feast. But that is a handsome Tom plate. He may need to find his way to our table as well! I noticed an abundance of fall Gnomes this year. Must be the new decor item! Thanks Mary for your lovely post as always. It helps take our mind off of Hurricane Dorian if only for a short time. 😉
Love your decorating ideas!!
Wow, Mary! Thanks for the tour of Home Goods. It is amazing how much they have!
I enjoyed hearing your excitement for decorating in the coming months.
It is much cooler here today and so pleasant. I’m anxious for Florida with the hurricane forecast. It most likely will affect us also.
Oh dear…now I have to go shopping….Every year I tell myself….no more fall or Halloween decor!!!
But I just can’t stop….it’s ridiculous, I have 4 large totes wit just pumpkins & gourds and 5 of various decor items not to mention one whole shelf in my decor cabinet……I need help! I’m 69 yrs young….I don’t need any more…..but I just found a couple really different pumpkins at Michaels……..there is no hope for me.
I just tell my son you can have the best estate sale this town has ever seen. LOL
thanks for the inspiration 🎃🎃🎃🎃
Cheryl, we are kindred spirits. I have bins and bins and have been telling myself no more, and yet today at Home Goods a new little Halloween house had to come home with me. Between us we could create quite a Halloween BOOtique!
Me either, Cheryl. 71 and I just ordered two Halloween decorations!
Beautiful Mary, your Home Goods is great!! We have been fall like for a week here in Maine! The gorgeous crisp days and nights and the air smells like September!!! Thank you for all the wonderful ideas for decorating out by my shed, patio, and pool! We are going to have a fire in our backyard fireplace to kick off Labor Day Weekend tonight!! Our Bichon Chester loves the fall!!!
OK, I want to know what YOU bought!
I love your idea for mixing Turkey plates–I’m off to TJ’s right now! (well, soon!)
Wow, such inspiration at Home Goods, Mary! I look forward to seeing your new Tom Turkey plates that you’ve added to your collection. I also like your Fall bucket list. I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures to arrive before I can get in the Fall mood. It’s hard to do with temperatures still nearing 100. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy my sunflower decor. Happy Weekend to you…xxoo
Love the Home Goods tour! Where is this great one located? Ours is not nearly so well stocked. 😔
Hi Liz, I have two HomeGoods near me. The better and larger of the two is located in Huntersville, NC. ;)
Love, love, love this post! I’m going to switch over to fall/Halloween decorations and table setting this weekend so this gave me extra inspiration. Thank you. And I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with your babies for fall and Halloween!
Mary, I’m so ready for summer to move on down the road. Our heat and high humidity makes it difficult to even think about autumn, but like you, it is my favorite season. I haven’t been to HG or the sister stores all summer, so I may need to make a stop to see if the turkey plates are here in Austin. Hope Dorian doesn’t move up your way once it makes landfall. I feel for the people of FL. It is all a waiting game as to where it will hit. My SIL is in Miami helping her SIL who is ill. She arrived Wednesday morning, and has hit the ground running trying to get her SIL’s highrise condo prepared. What a mess for all! It is a stressful time for the entire state.
Thanks for the fun post. Enjoy the holiday weekend, hopefully you can be on the lake enjoying beautiful weather.
I am so ready for fall. Tired of hot and humid. Love this post. Maybe it will make me feel cooler! Ha!
What an incredible Home Goods!!
Loved this shopping trip Mary! There are so many cute items on the shelves. I just can’t seem to get enthusiastic about the Fall items until it’s a little cooler. I’ve been trying to make a Fall transitional wreath for several weeks but it’s too hot still. I finally took everything back to the craft room. Maybe next week I’ll get reenergized since it will be Sept. & seeing what’s in your Home Goods will have inspired me! Have a wonderful Labor Day! Clara ❤️
We’re at the lake enjoying the beautiful water and lovely sunsets. Still holding on to the last of summer, although the air is cooler and stirring thoughts of fall, fun bonfire weather. I really like that new Tom plate, may have to stop by T.J. Maxx’s on the way home. 😃
Here in the upper Midwest we are in no hurry for a change of season given what the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting for us this winter! Still, it is fun to see new themes filling up the stores. I must say, Mary, that you shop in the neatest and most organized Home Goods store I’ve ever seen! Thanks for all the fun ideas! Your inspiration helps me get started.
Mary …. I love love love all of your posts. They are amazing and my inspiration. I love your deck/screen porch furniture. You may have already shared in a prior post where it was purchased from but if so I have not been able to locate it, if you don’t mind could you please let me know where you purchased it. I would so love to have it for my gazebo. Have a wonderful Labor Day.. thank you very very much for all your creativity! It’s off the charts.
Thank you for your visits and sweet comment, Merbe! Our porch furniture and chairs by the lake are from Uwharrie Chair Company. We’ve had them about 20 years. Happy Labor Day ♥
Mary….. Thank you,Thank you! I found the set and I can even get it shipped to me. There was a Labor Day special so you truly made this a perfect Labor Day! I am beyond thrilled! It is amazing your taste and your willingness to share is so rare these days. You definitely score a 100! Thank you again! Merbe
What a beautiful post for fall – so inspiring! I hope I can find one of the “Tom” plates. I always buy a large plate or platter from T. J. Maxx for special holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.) and I use the plate or platter to hold cookies that I make for the special occasion. We have the Brown Quail china for fall and one of the “Tom” plates would be perfect to pair with the china. Thanks for sharing so many wonderful ideas!
Mary I love this post. It puts everybody in the mood for Fall weather. The decorations are beautiful.
Marion
Love this post. Thank You for sharing all your lovely things. Beautiful etting.
Marilyn
Hope Fall comes your way soon. the Home Goods store is full of Fall and Halloween. I love your Turkey platter.

Looking forward to seeing what Rod is up to this year:@) Happy Labor Day Weekend Mary-enjoy:@)
Sweltering heat? I reckon not! We here in Phoenix have remained in triple digits (100-117) since June 5. Labor Day weekend temps around 111 (and yet another Excessive Heat Warning, yawn). Severe absence of seasonal (June-Sept.) monsoons — this year called “nonsoons” — and excessive ongoing heat only underscore what HOT really means. Needless to say, signs of autumn (which for us means temp drops into the 80s) are nowhere to be seen BUT sure is nice to see your colorful pics and be reminded of autumn’s beauty (elsewhere!). :)
Oh how I wish for a Home Goods close by. What wonderful pumpkins, pillows, and Halloween offerings to chose from. Have a wonderful weekend, Mary and see you Monday!
Mary I am so jealous the nearest Homegoods is an hour and a half away but I was in Hobby Lobby Tuesday buying more goats milk soap and drooling over their fall displays. Thanks for the tour of Homegoods, guess pictures will have to satisfy my desire for retail therapy.
After reading this post, I zoomed down to TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall’s but sadly did not find the turkey plate. It’s on eBay for a much more expensive price, darn.
Girl you are preaching to the choir here, fall and homegoods, what more do we need!
Mary, Unlike many of your followers, I am not ready for fall. That said, I love Home Goods and have been enjoying the Halloween/Fall items that are coming in. I can get to 4 different Home Goods easily, but I don’t think any of them have as much as your store. Perhaps with so many in the same general area they have to divide the deliveries four ways. Thank you for sharing your therapy photos, I enjoyed trying to see if I recognized anything from my own explorations. And, having followed your posts for so long, I love to look around at Home Goods and try to guess what you might end up buying and featuring in a post. Oh, the games we play. I look forward to seeing all your beautiful fall settings. And, PS, I will let you know if it turns out that I predicted any of your purchases. Have a wonderful fall. MM
Quel joli décor d’automne, on est loin de voir toutes ces jolies choses en France !
Dans mon quartier, je suis la seule à décorer ma maison pour le passage des enfants à Halloween…dommage !
Bonne journée
Last Sunday I made my rounds the same as you, lol – HG, Marshall’s, TJ’s (and Kohls)…..the amount of stuff was almost overwhelming. Yesterday we were in Sam’s and Fall/Halloween was front and center aisle….with all the Christmas directly behind it. I resisted….mostly. ;)
We have a new Home Goods on our side of town but sadly still too far away. Therefore, by the time I get there..most of the neat stuff is gone…BUT, a random stop in August gave me first pick at a cute cute black cat with the longest tail…I usually hope over to the Christmas Tree Shop & That and can pick up all the beautiful decor….I snagged Turkey dishes a little at a time and now have a wonderful set..I use at thanksgiving and fill in with my Franciscan Apple dishes…makes a very pretty table…and since we usually have about 23 it is impressive!!! Thanks for sharing your decorating ideas!!
Thank you for the virtual shopping trip to my favorite stores Mary, so many temptations out there, going shopping this way is much safer for my wallet!! Bring on the Fall fun! I am praying Dorian doesn’t cause you any harm, we are breathing a hopeful sigh of relief this morning after thinking we were going to have to cut our weekend short 2 days ago…stay safe…
Jenna
Fall is my favorite time of year too Mary! Can’t wait for cooler temps but they are way down the road, it’s still in the 90’s in Savannah. Halloween is my favourite holiday and I have certainly been hitting up Home Goods lately and bringing things home that I really don’t need but had to have anyway. Sadly, the number of trick or treaters dwindles every year but I’m still determined to go all out with the decorations. Like I told my son, I’ll enjoy it regardless. Can’t wait for your Halloween posts.
Hi, Mary. Though I have nothing out for Fall, I did venture into Homegoods/TjMax twice this week, and actually saw all the items you showed. The pillows were gorgeous—but feather pillows on the porch will have the critters, nesting in them. I have a bunch of ground squirrels(chippies) that think they own the front porch. Fun post–and your Halloween and Fall is always Gorgeous!
Love your introduction to Fall, even if the temps are still too high to go outside and pick up leaves and clippings.
