Happy Sunday! Here’s a little weekend waterview. . .

Weekend Waterview Sailing Regatta Lake Norman | ©homeiswheretheboatis.net #lake #LKN #sailboats

We enjoyed a little time on the lake over Labor Weekend and boated over to watch a regatta and the billowing sails. . .

Fun to see the variety of sails on the water. . .

My heart beats red, white and blue so I loved this sailboat. With the stars and stripes sail, I’m christening this boat with an equally patriotic name like ‘Freedom’, ‘Patriot’s Dream’ or ‘Sea Eagle’. . .

Instead of ‘Bad Bunny’ ;)

I always hold my breath when I see a sailboat heeling over in the water.

We’re in the ‘power boat and pontoon camp’ so we’re not familiar with all the flags and signals but it’s fun to watch.

Sophie was happy to sit in the Captain’s chair with my sister who was in town for a visit over the long holiday weekend.

Our hearts go out to all who were impacted by Dorian. Thank you all for your emails and concerns for our safety. Unlike the Outer Banks, we didn’t see as much as a raindrop from Dorian, as we’re 400 miles inland from the North Carolina coast. The garden is complaining about being thirsty and hot, so I was secretly hoping for a little rain and relief from the outer bands of tropical moisture, but no such luck.

Summer will be hanging on for a while with 90+ degree temps this week. Hope you’re enjoying some sunshine and beautiful weather where you are.

Happy Sunday! ♥

Happy Sunday to you, Mary! Looks like a fun boating outing for Labor Day. Glad you were safe from the storm.

So beautiful!! What a wonderful way to spend a day. It sure looks like Lola loved it! Thanks so much for sharing your fabulous photos. We have had cooler temps here, so not as many water skiers and tubers, but more pontoons! I love this time of year, I am a sweatshirt and jeans kind of girl.

I’d love to hear the story behind the name Bad Bunny:@) Happy Sunday Mary-Enjoy!

Lovely! The photos are fantastic!! Great post.

Bad Bunny has to be the worst boat name ever! I love love to watch sail boats, they are so graceful! I am glad Sophie is learning the pleasures of boating and Lola does look like an avid sailor! I’m sorry you didn’t get any rain, we are burning up here too…as long as the hurricanes stay away I won’t complain!

What lovely photos. I was raised in Long Island Sound in Connecticut and boating was a part of my life. Loved to see the colorful sails of the sailboats on the weekends.
Like you I.am glad we were not in the path of Dorian but sure could have used a bit of rain. 90s again next week. Guess I will enjoy the last of summer outside but inside fall is starting to show up in my decor. Going to work on remaking an old cotton wreath outside on the picnic table so it will be ready to hang in the kitchen. Have a good week.

Such a beautiful relaxing day right out your door! My husband is looking at pontoon boats lately, I am a little nervous since the lake can look like the ocean too quickly for my liking, any thoughts you can share on that???

Glad you had zero impact, I was worried about the wild horses, just read they all made it. We have low 80s next week, but sadly wild fires have returned in our hot dry state, looking for relief to all involved.

Ahh what a nice day! Love seeing the regatta of sail boats. We have them here too on Grand Traverse Bay. There’s a lot of details to sailing which make it a real sport. All I remember is we had to duck when they’d shift the mainsail! Your puppies are so sweet!

What à fun event to enjoy on the water. The names you chose for the boat are so fitting but must admit Bad Bunny is thought provoking. The girls look like they enjoy the boat rides. They’re adorable!🐾🐾 We’re happy that Dorian didn’t have any adverse effects on you but a little rain would have been nice given how dry & hot it’s been. Enjoy your day Mary! Clara ❤️

Enjoyed your pictures very much and glad that you had such a grand adventure out on the water with family (2 and 4 leggeds). And I agree with you wholeheartedly about the “Bad Bunny” name change ~ yours hands down! Glad you are safe!

I agree with your name for the “Bad Bunny!!”
    The girls are so cute:)

Love your name Sea Eagle for that beautiful mast on the Bad Bunny. The sister who fled Beaufort is heading back today, unsure of any water or power outage damage. The scene in the Bahamas is likely to be years of recovery, how sad. And that stupid storm is STILL on the seas!
Love your kids ;) on the boat and riding the waters. They look perfectly comfortable with their surroundings. Have a great week.

TY for sharing pictures-it did my heart glad to see boats on the water.

I enjoy your Blog so much. The water and the boats are so relaxing to me. Looks like Sophie might be a little sea sick..but your doggies are precious, you do capture their personalities. Glad you didn’t experience the hurricane and instead experienced calm boating out on a lake. I am in Southern California, and we have had 2 weeks of 90 to 103 degree weather here. Might have this warm weather all the way to Halloween, (sometimes this happens). Always looking forward to your blog. I am going to do the soap making and bake the peach dumplings. Both I have never done before and both look simple to do, thanks to you :-)

Same here. We’re only a little over 100 miles from the Ga. coast and we didn’t get a drop.

Thanks for the regatta photos it’s a lovely site. You are right about renaming Bad Bunny but she does have a beautiful main sail. As older sailors my husband and I enjoy cruising and have passed our Hobie Cat on to the next generation however this summer he completed a 12 foot wooden boat called a pram to teach our grandsons the art of sailing. They come here every summer for sailing ⛵️. The final day of their visit at the end of this summer they were on their own. What a site to see, as much pleasure as seeing Lola and Sophie enjoying a day on the boat. Headed outside for more cleanup from Dorian, would have love to have sent you some of that rain. Thankfully no major damage but our hearts go out to those who lost so much.

I love starting my week with pictures of the pups and beautiful lake scenery. Thank you for sharing your family and surroundings!

Enjoyed seeing the photos of Lola, Sophie and the sailboats! Many, many years ago the first husband and I had a sailboat and although I enjoyed sailing, it made me nervous when the boat heeled! Much more of a pontoon type person, too!

Wow! A trip down memory lane for me. I grew up sailing Thistles at our summer sailing camp, where I also worked for many summer as a counselor. And Flying Scots! There isn’t a huge presence of one-design sailboats any more and it’s great to see! Glad you were untouched by the hurricane. Prayers to all impacted!

So agree with the flutters of the red white and blue sail. It was the 1st thing that caught my eye, I’m Sure my heart is painted likewise! Glad you all got the R&R you well deserve.
    Happy Sunday.

What fun to enjoy all the busting activity with your sister and Lola and Sophie. I’m liking your names for the sailboat much better than Bad Bunny, too, Mary. Happy Sunday blessings to you ❤️💙

I love pontooning along with you! Great pictures and so glad you had a weekend with your sister. The pups are so adorable!

What a wonderful day…visiting with your sister and hubby, enjoying the lake and the regatta, your pups and great weather, doesn’t get much better than that! Your patriotic names for the sailboat were far more fitting than “Bad Bunny” for sure! Lol ⛵
