Create an affordable copycat Apple Spice Wreath using items from the craft store to welcome fall.
Happy Fall!
I’m welcoming my favorite season with an Apple Spice Wreath!
The inspiration for this wreath came from my September catalog from Balsam Hill.
I fell in love with this Apple Spice Wreath as soon as I saw it, but not the $199 price tag.

To create my version of this wreath, I started with two wreaths I already had; a 24-inch grapevine wreath and a leaf wreath that I disassembled, originally part of a Happy Haunting on my Potting Shed door. If you don’t have a leaf wreath you can achieve the same look using a grapevine wreath and fall leaf stems or branches from the craft store.
Additional materials used to create this Apple Spice Wreath:
🍎 Chenille Stems (already had, leftover from my Blooming Spring Wreath)
🍎 Apples, large and small (large apples found on Amazon, small apples at Hobby Lobby)
🍎 Dried Limelight Hydrangeas, from garden –> see my PSA, Plant a Limelight Hydrangea or Five
🍎 Craft Cinnamon Sticks (Hobby Lobby)
🍎 Craft Fall Leaves (Hobby Lobby)
🍎 Fall Floral Mum Bush (Hobby Lobby)
🍎 Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
I fastened the two wreaths together, securing them using chenille stems. . .
Next, I pulled the mum blooms off the stems.
The cinnamon sticks I found were 10″ long, so I broke them in half.
To begin, place your items on your wreath to see how you want them spaced,
then plug in your glue gun and go to work!
Tip: When using a hot glue gun, have an emergency glass of ice water
available in case you get hot glue on your fingers. . . *ouch*
If you’re using dried hydrangeas on your wreath, spritz them with some aerosol hairspray
first to help keep them from shattering and the papery blooms intact.
Here’s the finished wreath. . .bonus, the cinnamon sticks provide an aroma of apple spice!
When the fragrance from the cinnamon sticks start to fade or if you want to boost the fragrance,
add a few drops of cinnamon oil to refresh the sticks,
available with the candle or soap making supplies at the craft store.
Balsam Hill’s wreath is 28 inches and mine is 24 inches but instead of $200, I spent $28.
All the supplies I bought at Hobby Lobby were on sale.

It turned out just beautiful!! Well done.
Love your wreath!! It came out looking gorgeous!! I adore that you used apples. Many concentrate on pumpkins in the Fall and forget about apples!! Thanks for sharing!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Looks great, was just thinking about using my real apples for a wreath this week myself! I can’t wait for the color change, I think I have two months to go!
HI Mary – Fall has never been my favorite season …. I adore Spring. However, this wreath is a mind-changer! I love it and now that we live near a Hobby Lobby I can already see it on our front door. Thank you for the inspiration!
As usual, I love your ability to create beautiful things. The apple wreath is gorgeous. The large apples look so realist it is hard to believe that they aren’t crisp and juicy.
Love your Apple Spice Wreath! Yours is much prettier than the Balsam Hill one for a fraction off the cost. I think I might try to recreate yours for a touch of fall, though temps are still in the 90s here in the south. Thanks for so much inspiration every time I open your blog post, Mary.
So pretty .I have a wreath I’m going to add apples and cinnamon sticks. Thanks for the inspiration.
I LOVE your 🍎 wreath, Mary, and what a savings!! Your tutorial is wonderful, and looks so pretty on your door. Using apples instead of pumpkins is perfect for Fall. Happy 1st day of Fall to you! 😘
Hi, Mary ~ Thank you for sharing, your wreath is stunning!🍂🌾🧡
So very clever, but I wouldn’t expect anything less of you. Thanks for the inspiration and directions. I dried hydrangeas to use on my breakfast room table for this coming weekends homes tour but think I will have some left to add to a wreath for my Potting Shed Door. I recently found a metal Potting Shed sign in a consignment shop, so this would be a nice addition. Off to the attic in search of grapevine wreaths and apples. Thanks so much Mary.
This is fabulous! Those large apples look real!
Wow! Love how yours turned out! Perfection!
😍 franki
Stunning! Thank you for sharing
Your wreath gets me in the fall spirit of decorating! This week on Lake Norman won’t feel like fall though! Happy Fall ya’ll :)
You are one talented lady, and an inspiration to get out and try something new!
That’s a gorgeous wreath Mary. I love incorporating fruits into arrangements and scent from the cinnamon sticks must be wonderful. You are so very talented, thank you for sharing all this beauty with us.
I love this wreath. It is fall without orange screaming in your face. Thanks for the tutorial!
Love this❤️ Happy Fall🍂🍁🍂
Bravo! Very lovely and clever. Thanks for the idea and info. Have a wonderful day.
Love this beautiful and different wreath! Definitely unique and festive.
What would we do without Hobby Lobby! This is beautiful Mary, and much prettier than the pricey inspiration wreath! I know it must smell divine…apples are the iconic symbol of early fall, I just love this! Now, if only we could get those fall temps…
Jenna
LOVE this wreath. Can’t wait to try it. Your posts are always read as soon as I get them. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for the tutorial, Mary! I love your wreath! I’m not crafty but I’m tempted to try making one because I have your inspiration!
I like yours better! Gorgeous.
Beautiful wreath Mary. Will pin it on my wreath board. Will also make it for the front door. Can’t beat the price! Happy Fall. Clara ❤️
Beautiful wreath with the apples. I was just reading about all the new varieties that are to hit the markets this fall and thinking about apple pies and dumplings! Now seeing that wreath makes me salivate for the cinnamon and apples! You are one talented lady!
Wow! Absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I will definitely make this wreath for my porch.
Oh my goodness! I like yours the best. Beautiful job. Now to Hobby Lobby…….
Your wreath is so beautiful. It really does give you the feeling of fall. If you don’t have a fall leaf wreath, you could always attach a fall leaf garland to a wreath form to make the second wreath. You could also, just attach to the 1st wreath and then add all your other materials.
Just a thought. But love, love your wreath
Happy Fall!!🍁🍂
This wreath is so beautiful and economical~love it!
What a beauty! Well done Mary! Love the cost saves and yours really is prettier! 🍊🍂
Gorgeous!
Love it !
Gosh! You could sell these! This wreath turned out gorgeous. You are so talented!
Stunning. I love that wreath!
As long as my home is filled with an apple-cinnamon scent, it’s officially fall…even if the fall weather eludes us!
Do you dry your hydrangea’s in a machine or merely hang them up to dry? Do you place any preservatives on the cut stem? I wasn’t aware that a spritz of hair spray was beneficial, but I’m going to give it a try!
Thank you for the lovely nod to Apple season! Happy Fall!
Hi Betsy, I think the key to drying them is cutting them at the right time. Cut them when they start to become ‘papery’ to the touch. I usually cut them put them in a vase with a little water to enjoy inside and then let them go from there. No machine, preservative or hanging. Happy Fall ♥
Oh that’s beautiful Mary – I love it! And I sense a shopping trip with all that money you saved! :) Thanks for the great tutorial! 💗
Oh,this wreath is so lovely!
Your wreath is really stunning! It’s much prettier than the “inspiration” wreath.
Your wreath turned out great Mary, very pretty! Happy Fall (hoping this humidity gets the message:@)
Wow yours turned out amazing! The Balsam Hill one was a great inspiration piece. I definitely like the price you paid better!
~Mary~

Stunning wreath. pinned
Beautiful!
This wreath is gorgeous!!! I may have to try this! Thanks Mary!!
Love, love it Mary!!! Just gorgeous!!
This is amazing! I actually have most of these items already, and can’t wait to get one put together. I always wonder who those people are who will pay $199 for a wreath lol. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow! Thank you for this! It’s amazing! 🤩🙌
Looks good enough to eat! Very inviting and comforting look. I especially like the full roundness of it. I can’t abide wreaths that have big empty asymmetrical unbalanced gaps in them. More is more. You made something so lovely and inspiring.
This is just so beautiful! And I’m sure it smells heavenly! Just like apple cider days!
Love your wreath. Thank you for the inspiration and instructions for making one. I have to try this!
Absolutely stunning! Well done!
