Create a Turkey Dessert Board for easy entertaining to celebrate Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving. Customizable and fun to create, you’ll serve up smiles and satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth too.
This turkey dessert board is as fun to make as it is to eat,
ideal for Friendsgiving or family members in town over
the Thanksgiving holiday weekend!
Start with a wood board or tray and a pear to create your turkey.
Cut your pear in half and place a pear half in the bottom center of your serving board.
To create Tom Turkey’s face, I used some melted almond bark / candy coating
as the ‘glue’ to attach Wilton Candy Eyeballs left from Halloween
and a piece of candy corn for the turkey’s beak.
I cut off a little of the wide end off of a piece of candy corn to make the beak smaller
before attaching it to the turkey. For the wattle, I used a piece of cut red licorice,
as with Cinnamon-Sugar Puff Pastry Turkeys and Nutter Butter Turkey Cupcakes.
To make some turkey “feathers”, I used pretzel rods,
dipped and spread with melted almond bark. Use melted chocolate chips or candy melts
if you prefer, following the directions on the package for melting.
Place the dipped pretzels on wax or parchment paper and add some decorative sprinkles
or jimmies while the candy coating is warm.
I used some autumn leaves sprinkles I had in my cupcake decorating stash.
Once the candy coating is set, about 20 minutes, place your pretzel rods
in a fantail position around your turkey.
Now the fun begins. . . filling in the feathers with sweet treats!
Choose your family or friends’ favorites to assemble your dessert board. . .
I used some Reese’s Pieces, Pumpkin Spice Yogurt Pretzels, Pirouline Wafers,
an assortment of mini cookies, Kit Kat Minis Unwrapped,
and Brach’s Pie Favorites Candy Corn – Apple Pie & Pumpkin Pie.
I filled in between the rows of pretzels with my assorted treats.
I found my rustic wood tray with handles at World Market.
The edge of the tray keeps all the treats contained and from spilling when moving it to serve.
This is a sweet variation of my Turkey Snack Board, which is equally as fun to make,
with endless possibilities for snacking and feeding hungry pilgrims,
football fans and family over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend!
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving,
with Turkey and Dressing for All!
