Happy Monday! Are you finished decking the halls? As soon as I decide I’m done, I seem to find one more thing to add and two others to tweak. ;) For this week’s edition of Monday Morning Blooms, we’re sharing some holiday greenery in and around our homes.
You can find my blogging friends’ links to their holiday inspiration at the bottom of this post.
I’ve had this reindeer sleigh, Dasher or Dancer, for several years. He was a gift that I *deerly* love using at Christmas as a centerpiece filled with greenery and / or ornaments.
You can see him at a Merry and Bright Plaid Table, HERE.
I decided he could use a makeover to warm him up and blend with the wood tones of the room and marry the rusty sleigh bells on the garland and wreath I’m using this year.
I used some acrylic paint from the craft store in assorted shades of brown, layering the colors and dry brushing, to cover the original gray tones and finish.
After he was dry, I filled a plastic container with wet floral foam to place inside the body of the sleigh. Plastic bags from the grocery store help keep the container in place and provide some protection from any water spilling.
Dasher or Dancer is filled with a mixture of evergreens clipped from the shrubs and trees. . . cypress, juniper, boxwood, magnolia leaves. . . along with a bit of red plaid ribbon, red ornaments and pine cones. Nandina berries cut from the shrubs provide an additional pop of seasonal red.
I’m decking the halls with a *Rustic Holiday Wreath & Garland from Tree Classics.
The wreath and garland have battery-operated clear LED lights to add a little twinkle.
To hang the wreath and garland I used Command Hooks. This is the first time I’ve used Command Hooks on mirror or glass and they worked like a charm! I picked up a pair of medium wire toggle style hooks to hang the wreath on the mirror. The hooks flip up making it easier to grab hold of the wire on the back of the wreath.
The Rustic Holiday Wreath & Garland are a mix of artificial greenery decorated with an array of pine cones, red berries and bells. The wreath came with some burlap ribbon accents.
For the garland, I added some tartan ribbon from my Christmas stash.

Beautifully done! Like the way you coordinated your plaid ribbon and plates. I have to have everything match. Drives my husband crazy….. Ha!
You make everything look so easy.
Love it all.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Mary, could you do a post showcasing the amazing tree and its ornaments showing in the mirror? You are the Queen of good taste!!! I love your blogs. Julie W.
Thank you Julie. ♥ I’m hoping to work on one for later this week, I just need a bright sunshiny day.🎄
Mary, your makeover is perfect and looks so festive with the clippings from your yard. I love the way you styled the wreath and garland on the mirror with the reflections of your tree lookin…so beautiful! It is so dark and raining this morning with the threat of severe weather tonight. Maybe you will get some better weather. It is always a pleasure to share Monday Morning Blooms with you❤️
Mary, great job on the Dasher or Dancer makeover! And the sleigh looks so holiday festive full of greens and berries! The tartan plaid is a wonderful addition to the beautiful garland, those old sleigh bells are fabulous! Your tree looks amazing too! I love command hooks, so handy! What a Merry Monday, fa la la!

Your makeover looks great on Dancer (my preferred name choice, hehe), and the floral arrangement is a perfect pairing with the garland and wreath! Those little nandina berries can be very naughty escape artists, rolling to the darkest corners if ever so slightly touched. No worries with the garland and wreath though. Love your addition of the plaid ribbon, it gives it some styling oomph, and knowing the command hooks worked, even with the weight of the battery packs, is good info!
Oh my that turned out so great! You really transformed the deer planter! Your florals are lovely and so is that garland. I can’t help but notice the christmas tree in the background- it’s fabulous!
I love Everything here!! What a beautiful way to start our week before Christmas!!! Thank You
That sleigh turned out so slick!! I bought sparkly sleigh ornaments for table favors (chocolate Santa, Maple Nut Goodies, etc.) Me, too, “still adding…” franki
Gorgeous! Love the reindeer sleigh. Merry Christmas!
Oh Mary….the mirror and table are adorned so beautifully with the greatest of Christmas Cheer!…Love the Dasher or Dancer makeover and beautiful arrangement. Yes, those command hooks are the greatest. I used them over the stove (adhered to the tile) to hang copper pots with no problems. The tartan plaid ribbon is the perfect compliment to your rustic wreath and garland. And…I am loving the peek of your gorgeous Christmas tree!!! Spectacular!…I am a very happy camper today that I am joining my MMB friends. Merry Christmas to you and your family Mary!!!!
Mary, what a wonderful makeover! I *deerly* love it too! Your garland & wreath is so festive. Love the picture reflection of your tree in the mirror. Merry Monday! Clara ❤️🎄🎅
I love the makeover on Dasher/Dancer. I have the large version and think it might need an update too. Thanks for the idea. I always get lots of ideas from you. Wishing you a cheery Merry Christmas.
Mary, Prancer or Dancer looks wonderful with his make-over! And filled with greens, he certainly makes a welcoming statement together with your garlands and wreath! You’ve created a very merry front porch for everyone who enters your cozy home. I wish you the happiest of holidays with your family, sweet Mary.
I used command hooks this yer to hang the garlands on my mantel, they are perfect!! Love to you, friend, xo Lidy
Beautiful Mary, Merry Christmas!!
The transformation of deer is amazing, Mary! Your garland and wreath look so pretty on your mirror, and seeing the reflection of your tree is beautiful!
Love the idea of mirror hooks, expands your horizons! Adore the reflective shot of your tree, stunning. Hear you on sunny day shots, I have had none, and if I did, this house isn’t facing the right direction anyway so all shots are doomed anyway!
Well done, Mary, Dasher (My choice for his name, hehe) is very “dashing”, sporting his new darker look. I really like it, the beautiful greenery in him, the wreath and the lovely garland. The tree is beautiful, can’t wait to the full reveal! 🎄🎄🎄
Gorgeous!!! I’ll have to consider Tree Classics when my garland, etc wear out!!!
Oh Mary, your wreath and garland are wonderfully beautiful. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas
Mary, I’m always picking up new, helpful tips from you. I had looked at Command hooks but thought they appeared to small to hold the weight of a garland. Good to know they work!
Your home looks warm and festive. Thanks for the garland and wreath source. They are lovely!
Beautiful as always. We recently purchased a gorgeous tree from Tree Classics. Will have to check out their garlands and wreaths. Thank you for sharing
Mary I love your Christmas home! The Christmas tree in some of your shots is spectacular!

Love the reindeer makeover also!

It is woodsy yet elegant enough to to please any one..It radiates such warmth!
Thank you for sharing and inspiration as always.
Love your display Mary. I have used the Command strip hangers on mirrors for years. Aren’t they great?
Very pretty Mary! I would say you’re all decked out and ready for Santa’s visit-enjoy:@)
Mary, I love the look of a wreath on a mirror. I have never tried it for fear the back of the wreath might scratch the mirror. Any suggestions would be welcome.
I put fabric ties on wreaths or pocket arrangements to lift the objects slightly off our metal door.
Your blog is one of my most favorites. It is visually stunning and I am always inspired. Merry Christmas.
Oh my, that wreath and garland is just gorgeous and dasher/dancer fits right in. Love how you captured your tree in the mirror!
Mary, it’s all so welcoming. I like the look of the greens on that fabulous mirror, and the newly spiffed up reindeer sleigh is a fun piece to style. I admire your energy to do a makeover this time of year. Bravo!
Still tweaking things here. Need to think about my table as we’ve decided to host dinner Christmas Eve.
I am so glad I didn’t miss this! I have a VERY similar deer planter and haven’t used it in years. I sure will after seeing how beautifully you filled yours! The wreath and garland are gorgeous. Did you mean the toggle type hooks are Command hooks? I was a little confused. I will look for them! have a WONDERFUL Christmas!!! I am hoping I feel better by then, am sick with bronchitis and a sinus infection:( Merry Christmas!!!!!!
Your decorations are absolutely beautiful! Have a wonderful Christmas!
