Definitely a ‘pie’ connoisseur!
And I love to make my mother (Imogene’s) favorite cream puffs with Bavarian cream filling & chocolate topping.
I am not a baker YET! I am retiring in 2 weeks and the first item on my bucket list is to learn to bake. Especially pies (and cakes😊)! This book would help me master my favorite memory- my grandmother’s cherry pie.
Love my pie! Key lime pie is my favorite of being from the South!
I love cake and pie! My favorite dessert to make is Buche de Noel aka Yule log on Christmas. My family loves and looks forward to it!
When I was a little girl my Mom made the best chocolate cakes. She made them from a box and unfortunately I never asked her how she transformed that box mix into something so delicious! I’m a cake person but my favorite dessert to make is good old toll house cookies!
I’d love to win the book!
Thanks
Robyn Smith
Italian cream cake love most any cake
Oh do I have to choose? I guess I would have to say “pie”. There are so many interesting recipes in this book. Crossing my fingers that I’m a winner.
I love cakes. My mom made the best devils food cake from scratch. I make cakes, and cookies,my pie making is not good🙁
Although I don’t bake as much as I did when my boys were growing up, I still love baking cakes. I leave the pie baking to my sweet daughter-in-law. She has definitely mastered the art. My go-to for family occasions is Texas Sheet Cake.
This adorable cook book looks like a must have for the Chocolate marshmallow chandelier alone! It’s an easy pick for me, I am a cake lover. My Mom made the best cakes for special occasions. We use her recipes now to recreate those memorable desserts to the best of our ability.
I am a cake (red velvet) person, but my hubs is lemon meringue pie person. I probably make more pies as rewards for honey-do projects.
My mom. Virginia, made the best chiffon cakes that was always the first sold at the PTA bake sale. Unfortunately, never got the recipe but think of it often. She was the best baker!
I love both pie and cake but if I have to choose it’s definitely cake! Favorite cake , good old chocolate with chocolate fudge buttercream frosting! Can’t wait to win the back in the day cookbook! What the world needs now is more sweet baked love!
Amen❣️🍰🧁💕
My favorite dessert is Coconut cake and I make it for Christmas and Easter. My Mother would make one for my birthday and now if I am lucky my husband buys me one. This is a beautiful book.
Definitely a cake person. My family’s favorite is Texas sheet cake. Thanks for sharing this wonderful book. I will surely be purchasing a few to share. Enjoy a blessed day.
My love of baking started with my childhood days in the Kitchen with my Grandma Henrietta, we spent hours together. Cookies, breads, pies but not a lot of cakes. Back in the Day reminds me of those cherished memories and I would love to try their tips on baking Cakes! I love the theme of this book and the feeling of baking with Love. Hope I’m a lucky winner!
I’m a pie lover. Apple pie is my specialty but I bake a mean apple cake too.
It looks like a fun and interesting book. If I really have to choose I would say pie maker. I love making lemon tart using David Lebovitz’s tart crust and curd recipes. Love your blog!
I love both but of the two I’ll “take the cake”! I’d say it’s because there are more types/flavors of cakes that I love than with pies. This book looks like it’s chock full of “what’s not to love” recipes. And the pictures are most inviting…
Very cool, I love the powdered sugar stars:@)
I love them both, but if I had to pick, I would say cakes. And I have to say this book looks amazing!
Mary, I would love to be a winner! I love pie, coconut cream is what I make for my husband and me, but my kids request Texas sheet cake the most. I love waking up and checking to see what you have been up to. Thanks.
Another great giveaway. Don’t count me in the giveaway, but please don’t count me out for dessert! I love bready kinds of desserts, so I’d go with cake. But I never turned down a lemon meringue pie or pretty much any cheesecake! Mr. P. loves my spice cake with buttercream icing (it’s a cake for two, but he eats the entire thing, lol). That chandelier! And let’s talk about that cake plate (“I knew you were coming…..) we NEED that.
Cute cook book, very food for thoughtish 😉!
And Novel Bakerish 🍜🍰🧁😀
I am a cake person, and my husband’s Aunt Kay shared a recipe for Strawberry Cake that is one she shared with me. My grown children love it so, and their friends request it allot. Make me feel good to make something special for them, a tradition for another generation having at special occasions.
I am a cake person and my favorite is a sumptuous carrot cake filled with nuts and raisins and best not to forget -the cream cheeses frosting . . . Yum! I remember Cheryl Day’s appearances on the Food Network and loved her quirky retro aprons and personality. I would really enjoy their new cookbook.
I had not heard of this cookbook! But I will certainly look for it. I love looking for new “old” recipes. Maybe I’m an old soul. They just give me such comfort. And there was a time, like the 60s, when certain recipes were in vogue and everybody used them at dinner parties. And people HAD dinner parties where people actually got dressed up and the lady of the house wore an apron. That’s me. Thanks for your inspiration Mary!
Mary, if I have to choose, I would go with cake. This looks like a delightful cookbook. I enjoyed perusing it’s pages.❤️
I am a cake person. I have the first cookbook and it’s wonderful I would LOVE the second one.
Thank you for your blog. I don’t think I have missed any of your offerings through the years. If I had to choose I would probably say I am more of a cake person than pie. My very favorite cake is a chocolate chiffon with ermine frosting. In fact I am thinking of making one for Valentines Day or … So many favorites, so little time!
What a beautiful cookbook!! I have always preferred pies, especially my mom’s homemade chocolate cream pie, but I must admit the cakes in this cookbook make my mouth water too!!
Thanks for the introduction to an interesting cookbook! I love baking a good ol’ fashioned Pineapple Upside Down Cake, it reminds me of summer and its care free days enjoying time spent bbq’n & enjoying time with loved ones.
Team Cake. Thanks for the introduction to an interesting cookbook! I love baking a good ol’ fashioned Pineapple Upside Down Cake, it reminds me of summer and its care free days enjoying time spent bbq’n & enjoying time with loved ones.
I love to bake!! And I love to bake all pies, cake, breads, brownies, lemon bars, favorite cake is Butter Pecan with Carmel/maple icing..then I crumble a heath bar and sprinkle that on top…my fav pie is cherry… get my fresh cherries from a local orchard (it is my kids fav too)…I bake multiple breads and at Christmas those are some gifts…I have to stay away from baking for a while so I can get some of this Christmas weight off! LOL!! I just say that and then we have company and right back at it! When I seen the plate that said “if I knew you were coming, I’d of baked a cake”, that brought back wonderful memories of my mother singing that while in the kitchen…sorry for the long reply!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!! ❤️🎂💝
Love both pies and cakes but if I have to choose pie. Love to make Kentucky bourbon pecan pie. Love to eat it too!
I’m definitely a “pie” person! I make my grandmother’s Southern Chocolate Pie! A family favorite!
We are a pie family! Everyone has a favorite pie instead of cake for their birthday ! Thanks for all your beautiful ideas! Blessings! Kim
My favorite is pies! Favorite fruit pie is cherry and favorite cream pie would be lemon meringue. Would love to win the “baking book”! I love baking for my family and friends-sharing the love for sure.
Good morning Mary. I guess I am a cake person. Found a recipe a few years ago for Carrot Cake in my favorite Southern Living cookbook, and it is my favorite. With lots of cream cheese icing, It is a winner!
Have a great day. xoxo
I always asked my grandmother for apple pie for my birthday “cake.”
I am a pie person (although I do love to make a cake). On the holidays I make a buffet of pies. My personal favorite is my mom’s apple cobbler. The nectar of the apples mix with the sugar and seep into the crust which creates a delicious bite. And you start thinking….maybe one more serving!

This book has incredible presentation. Amazing artistry. Fun to see “art” in the bleary month of February. :-) I’m past the age to try a single thing, past eating that sort of yummy stuff, but it is pretty.

I am a pie person (chocolate), but I would rather bake a cake. My favorite thing to make is brownies!
It’s almost a toss up. If it is Thanksgiving, pie wins. Any other time cake wins if it is homemade, fresh and moist with good frosting. No store bought, dry or previously frozen, please.
Loved the video, the Days seem to have such a joy for baking. I love bake just about anything but if I must choose guess pecan pie would have to win. We have two pecan trees in our front yard. The gathering and shelling is my husband’s job and I do the baking so it is a team effort. I make a sweet crust with the addition of sugar and cream cheese and then fill it with my Mother’s recipe, who just turned 95 this past week. That’s the reason for the late reply, my husband and I spent last week visiting her and celebrating.
Oh Mary, it’s hard for my sweet tooth to decide, but if I must, I’ll choose pie (although I’d never turn down either)! My favorite dessert to make is ice cream pie with peanut butter crust, which is a family favorite, and one that my late beloved would request for his birthday. Thanks for the opportunity to win this fabulous giveaway! ❤️
I am a pretty good cook but a baker not so much. I usually bake the same old things and would love to branch out and make some pies for my dear hubby to enjoy. Looks like a really cute book.
I love to bake anything! I would say a favorite is a Key Lime Mousse Cake. I collect cook books this looks like a good one to have.
My “fav” would be pies. Love that duo. The video is so very sweet. My mom used to mourn the loss of small town bakeries. I always try to check out little bakeries. There is one in a town near me that is absolutely terrific, they make a bran muffin that sells out every day. I do agree that to celebrate with a special cake is the icing on a celebration. This couple got married in their bakery, imagine the sights and smells in that, what a venue.
Good Morning Mary! I’m a cake girl married to a pie guy so we enjoy both! My beloved mother made the absolute best Coconut Cake that called for refrigerating it for 1 – 3 days before serving. It was divine. Thanks for the giveaway. ♥
I think I gained 5 lbs. as I scrolled down the screen Mary! What a cute couple the Days make too, I enjoyed the video you included. I’ll take cake over pie any day. My favorite is a good old-fashioned carrot cake!
What a yummy cookbook! I think if I add one more book to my kitchen shelf it might collapse from the weight. :)) We’re a pie family, my hubby’s favorite is apple with a salted caramel drizzle. Thanks for sharing!
For the LO❤️E of Cake❣️🎂 🍰 🧁 My favorite cake of all time is an old fashion yellow cake with a
rich and chocolaty 🤎 icing so delicious.😋 Such a fun cookbook to win and enjoy for 💗 Valentines Day. 💕💘💕💘💕💘💕💘💕💘💕💕💘💕💘💕💘
❌⭕️
It all looks so yummy!
I’m a cake lover, but also serve pies.
I like to make gooey butter cakes and my husband loves cherry cheese cakes.
Winning your book would be awesome. Our 50th Anniversary is coming up and the cake topper would look so cool on our cake!
Thanks for sharing your great ideas…..
The Day’s cookbook looks amazing, the pictures are so pretty! I’m totally a dessert person, so I like both, but if I had to pick, I would say I’m a cake person. The more layers and icing, the better!! Thank you for such a lovely giveaway opportunity!
For eating I am more of a pie person, but I absolutely love making cupcakes! I love making cookies also and have so much fun with new recipes! I would love this book, it looks so fun!
I am a pie person! I love to bake cookies, all kinds of cookies. What a beautiful book, thank you for sharing the title and the opportunity to win a copy!
If I just make a choice it has to be pie…Lemon Meringue !But close second would be Cream Horns .Mary you have a special talent for seeking out the most interesting delicious yummy 😋 treats.I am sure the lucky winners will enjoy this special book for years to come.Good Luck to all and Thank You again .
That is the cutest cookbook! Even though I’m a ‘cake’ person, I’ve not had much experience (or luck) with baking. I guess I just need to practice more! ;o) I used to make No-Bake cookies for my daughter and Dirt Cake in which I just crumble up Oreos on top of chocolate pudding. She never felt dessert-deprived.
I have to choose? I love a Denver Chocolate Sheet cake with peppermint ice cream or peach pie with fresh peaches from Palisade. #seasonal dessert
I would love to win this cookbook! Thank you for the opportunity. I love pies and cakes, and I probably love pie more, although I am a better cake baker. Our family’s favorite dessert is my Nana Bread, so it has also become my favorite. It is my recipe created by using Friendship Bread and butterscotch morsels. My granddaughters named it Nana Bread, and they always request it, so I usually have it baked for them. I bake it with nuts (usually pecans) and without, and both are delicious. I am considering selling it professionally, since so many people have told me that I should do so.
Oh I’m both! My mom’s banana pudding from scratch and Krystal’s banana cream pie in the 1950’s were faves. Had the opportunity when visiting Savannah to visit Back in the Day…so, so yum!!!
I love to bake because I love “SWEETS”. I often make scones and biscotti, but my favorite cake is Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting. Thank you for the chance to win the cookbook!
For the LO❤️E of Cake❣️ 🎂🍰🧁 My favorite cake of all time is an Old fashion yellow cake with a rich and 🤎 Chocolaty Icing. What a lovely 💓cookbook to win and enjoy for Valentines Day.💕💘💕💘💕

Diane P
I am a pie lover but my family loves cakes… so cakes usually win out. For special events I make a 3 layer lemon meringue cake from a very old issue of Southern Living magazine.. it’s a keeper!!
I’m a cake person; German chocolate & coconut are favorites to eat. I love to bake both my grandmother’s coconut & chocolate meringue pies as they bring back sweet memories of watching her make them. Those days were the best! I still have the recipes I scribbled down more than 50 years ago as a pre teen. Now I’m the age she was when I was a toddler! Time flew, things changed but I’m still baking her pies. This looks like a wonderful book. Happy Thursday! Clara♥️
What a charming cookbook and the recipes sound scrumptious. Would love a chance to win one. You are asking a tough question here today :). I enjoy pies and cakes, but if I have to choose I would go with pies. I enjoy making my mom’s recipe for fresh peach pie in the summertime. She has been gone for several years now. The recipe is in her handwriting and I am reminded of the many times we enjoyed that pie around her table. The warm memories make the pie taste even sweeter.
How do I choose cake or pie, hmmmm, depends on the day. But I am a better pie baker by far thanks to a family crust recipe. However with new grandchildren I need to be a better cake maker for all these upcoming birthdays!!!
Hi Mary, my favourite cake is Alaska bake cake. Simple angel food cake cut in 3 layers with delicious filling in between……..
Mary, What a fun cookbook!! I am a pie person and love to make my Mom’s chocolate silk tarts or her pecan pie :)
Thank you for the opportunity to win and I hope you have a nice day! Very dreary here with all the rain…. maybe a good day to bake!
I would have to say I am a cake lover and baker. I just love to display a beautifully iced cake on a nice cake stand. Then serving it on pretty dessert plates. It is a process that brings back beautiful memories of both of my grandmothers and my Mom. I have never been known to turn down pie either! 😜 My Mom loved to try new recipes and she passed on that desire in me. I would love to win one of the cookbooks and try every recipe!
This book is delightful. I love the drawings. Hmm, pie or cake. I would say #1 pie and #2 cake. Favorite to make are brownies, LOL. Thanks for having the giveway!
Pie for me! I remember my Mom making lemon filling and us kids licking the pan! And my Dad made Apple and berry pie! At Thanksgiving he would make turkey tracks on the mincemeat pie crust!
I love both, but I’d have to say I’m a pie person. Especially fruit pies. thanks for the chance to win this cookbook.
Hi Mary!
Years ago, while planning to cater for a family I regularly cooked for, I was asked by the Matriarch of the family, then in her late 80’s, to prepare an Alabama Lane Cake. She said that her Grandmother used to make one every Christmas and she hadn’t had one since she was a young woman. Not being from the south, and charged with something of huge importance to this lovely woman, I researched and practiced and finally nervously prepared the cake for this woman and her family. Recreating a beloved childhood recipe/memory for someone is both a wonderful opportunity and daunting challenge!
Thankfully, the cake was a hit! She teared up as she ate it, reminiscing about her youthful family memories and the part this recipe played in them. I love history and cooking and combining the two is absolutely fascinating to me! Thank-you for sharing this cookbook! I am excited to pour through it one day and practice these timeless recipes!
I am a pie person, and my favorite pie to make is key lime pie. If baking a cake, my favorite is Martina McBride’s County Fair Orange Cake.
Love both ! Favorite is cake I guess, but love to bake and would really enjoy the cookbook! The pictures are yummy too! Thanks so much for your blog.
I love Cheryl and Griff! Their recipes are fantastic! I’m definitely a pie person but I wouldn’t turn down a piece of cake! 😋 I love to bake but my favorite thing to make is fudge or pecan pie. 😍
Love both, but I would have to choose cakes. I like to make Key Lime cupcakes. Thanks for introducing me to this couple, their cookbook, and their bakery! They seem like such a fun couple who love what they do!
I think I am like Sue Ellen – I love cake but come Thanksgiving, I truly love pecan, pumpkin and apple pies — yep — all made from scratch — even the crust! I also make homemade rolls as Frank Sinatra sings “I remember the rolls my mother made when she was able” — they are like marshmallows! I have always brought in the birthday cakes at work and they all have to be made from scratch. My husband’s favorite is coconut and/or german chocolate! Love your postings! Thank you soo much!
Pie! Lots of wonderful fruit in the Central Valley of CA. Thank you for sharing this cookbook, I have never heard of it before.
Pie or cake, why choose! I’d have both. The photos of the creations in their book are stunning and the chandelier with marshmallows is over the top! Thank you for sharing.
Oh gosh girl.. you find the neatest things!! I am a cake person however that orange buttermilk pie may make me be a convert!!!! Thanks for sharing this little slice of heaven!
My mother always made cakes and my favorite was and still is the chocolate sheet cake which is so easy and delicious. HOWEVER< I still love pies because they are such a wonderful rare treat ! (especially with homemade crust) My favorite to make is lemon meringue even though they are not photo worthy ! I would love this cookbook and would especially like to try the marshmallow chandelier (pinned on Pinterest) i am subscriber-Thank you Mary for your inspiring beautiful photos! HAPPY VALENTINES!!!!
Oh heavens.. if it has SUGAR in it.. I LOVE IT!!!! I am not choose 🥰 My husband is from Savannah, GA where Back in the Day Bakery is located so ANY thing made from their unique cookbook would be special for him!!! Thanks Mary for ALWAYS sharing the most fabulous ideas!!!
I am a pie person. I think my two favorites to make are pecan and sweet potato. I also love to make a pie that we refer to as Fluff Pie. It is my own recipe and is quick, easy, and delicious. I enjoy your beautiful Blog. Thank you,
I am a pie girl. Love them all but my favorite to make is a fresh peach glazed pie.
The book is really neat.
Thanks for sharing
I am definitely a cake person! I like to bake and decorate cakes for my family and for special occasions. I also used to work at a bakery as a teenager and I loved everything about it! The cookbook looks lovely! Thank you for offering it for a giveaway! Fingers crossed!🤞🏻🙂
Do I have to choose between cakes and pies? I love them both and love making them both. I use my grandmas recipes (which I had to watch her make and I wrote down because she never used a recipe one!) She made the most delicious pies in Perry County! This book looks amazing!
My grandmother, mother & aunts made wonderful pies. As a child I stood on stools to help roll out pie dough. How I loved creating the lattice crust! I guess I became the cake baker of the family by default. My favorite is Rocky Road Bundt Cake. Now that the family matriarchs have passed, I do my best to duplicate their pies. I still use my grandmother’s handmade wooden rolling pin.
My son loves my Eggnog pound cake. I make it for Christmas and then make several to freeze so I always have one for him when he visits.
Oh Happy “Day”! Loved the video….what a darling couple! They are a fun loving inspiration. My favorite dessert to make is Carrot Cake! I grow the carrots which I have in my garden all winter long because I cover them with straw. I’ve developed my own recipe over the years and just love the moist carroty goodness enveloped in a buttery cream cheese frosting. I think its time to make Carrot Cake!
I love to make both! If I must choose, I choose pies, especially cobblers. Again, if I must choose, my husband’s favorite pie is a peach buttermilk pie, which I make only in the summer with fresh peaches. This book looks great! I often just do tried and true favorites, but when inspired, I try new and different.
Although I am a Chocolate Cake Fanatic I love creating my families favorite, Old Fashioned Strawberry/Rhubarb Pie!
Made with my own home grown berries and rhubarb that are grown without pesticides.
My family clamors for this when they see the berries ripening.
I have converted a lot of rhubarb skeptics
with the recipe I found in an old Settlement Cookbook that was a wedding gift from my Mother-in-law in 1967.
Mary, another great blog piece….you come up with the most interesting and beautiful things!! I love both cake and pie…if I had to choose it would probably be cake…My favorite is my mothers banana cake with brown sugar frosting…four layers of pure heaven….Happy Valentines Day!
cake for me! Red Velvet is my favorite. Thank you for a chance to win Mary :)
I am a cake person as far as preparing them but a pie person for eating. That is, except for two, German Chocolate Cake and Angel Food Cake. My two all time favorites.
Hi Mary ~ one of the sweetest and prettiest cookbooks I’ve ever seen ! I am flat out a dessert person. Doesn’t much matter the kind or flavor – just lemme at it, although I eat a much smaller amount now than I used to #lifeisuncertaineatdessertfirst
Hi Mary, I love to bake and I also love to “read” cookbooks. This looks like a wonderful cookbook that I can do both! My favorite desserts to make are Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp, Icebox Coconut Cream Pie and Lemon Chiffon Pie. Also enjoyed the video too.
I love this book and the video at the end is adorable!!! I love both cakes and pies. My favorite to make is my Grandmother’s coconut pies and pound cake. My favorite to eat is my Aunt Peggy’s 20 layer chocolate layer cake. So so GOOOD!!!!!
What an adorable book Mary, I love the artwork :) I am a cake all the way person, don’t even like pie! Of course now I’m craving sweets, I guess my favorite thing to make is a bundt cake…what a lovely Valentine giveaway!
Jenna
Hi Mary!
I like cake AND pie, but I find myself making more pies than cakes. Cherry pie, buttermilk pie and handheld apricot pies are my favorite to make, and all are family favorites.
The cookbook looks delightful! Thank you for the giveaway offer.
Oh Mary, what a fun give away. It just so happens I collect cookbooks and this would be a fun addition. And it’s pie, pie, and More pie for me. Do you remember the song, “I Love Pie” in the movie”Michael”? I hum it every time I make pie.
Absolutely LOVE this! Baking is my super power. Quite honestly, I’m better with cakes than pies when I’m baking. So I guess CAKE!
I am both. ;) My mom makes a dish called “cherry crunch” and it has a layer of shortbread (with pecans) whipped topping (from the box) and powder sugar and pie filling. My favorite since I was a kid.
My mouth is watering as I look at this post. I am more of a pie person though I make more cakes. I need more confidence in my pie making; My best dessert recipe would have to be chocolate cake.
I adore baking and decorating old-fashioned style, so this awesome book is right up my alley!! I would definitely LOVE to win this prize!! I am crazy for both cakes and pies, but I guess I will say that pie is my favorite. My favorite dessert to make is Blackberry Crumble bars, with Bourbon Pecan pie coming in a close second! (Pumpkin Pecan Spice Cake with Caramel Pecan Frosting too!) Thanks Mary for another great giveaway! :)
PS My family’s favorite thing that I make is Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake, so I have to mention that, LOL!
I enjoy making pies and cakes, but in summers it is pie and winters which have been very seldom the last few years here, I like to make cakes and brownies..Would love to win the cookbook to make some of those delish sounding receipes..Happy Valentines day your blog is so wonderful, lots of love sent to you and peace tooooo!X()()()()XXXXXXXX
Definitely a pie lover. Never met a pie I didn’t like. From Apple to chicken pot pie to pizza pie. Yummmy! 🥧😋
Thanks Mary for your giveaway and beautiful blog. I love the recipes and flower arranging tips.
Of course, I enjoy both. But I think anyone would identify me as a “pie” person. I love pie crust! Oddly, I don’t seem to be capable of making it myself. My favorite dessert to make is either potato chip chocolate chip cookies or gingerbread bundt cake.
Oh I love both pies and cakes. But I’d say my absolute favorite to make and eat is Chocolate Pound Cake with Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing.
I prefer cake myself, but my favorite thing to make for others is my Grandmother’s strawberry pie. Always gets rave reviews and requests for another slice!
I would love to win the Cook Book, it is so cute, and I would spend hours looking at it and will make some thing. My favorite cake to make is a Scandinavian Almond cake.
That is a very cute cook book, I would spend hours looking at it, and would be making some thing. My favorite cake is a Scandinavian Almond cake.
I guess I’m a pie person, although I’m not great at making crust. I often make Paul Prudhomme’s Sweet Potato Pecan Pie for the holidays. My absolute favorite dessert to make, however, is Texas Sheet Cake.
I’m definitely a cake person and have very little will power when I’m around them. On the other hand, apple pies are my specialty to bake along with peanut butter cookies and pound cakes. I would love to win because I’m fascinated by the Lemon Buttermilk Fudge and the Marshmallow Chandelier. Good luck to everyone!
I love the first book and have made many wonderful things from it. I would love the have the new one. My husbands office will eat anything one day I am going to just start at the front of the book and bake my way through !
I, along with my family, am a cake person. My favorite cake is a homemade butter cake. You can always top it with strawberries or blueberries or raspberries. Delicious,
I have a beautiful lemon tree loaded with lemons ..so cake or pie? I’d have to go pie but I do love cakes too ;) With all this baking talk and I love Cheryl and Griffith Day, I may go bake something lemon today!!
Hope I’m fortunate enough to win a copy of their newest book!
June G.
I never met a piece of cake that I didn’t like ❤️
This sounds like a great book.
Marion
Thank You for the opportunity to win this great giveaway.
Joan
Thank You for the opportunity to win this great prize.
Joan
This is a nice prize to win.
Marilyn
Pie! Fresh blackberry cobbler with a white icing glaze like my grandmother baked to accentuate the sweet tartness of the berries. Strawberry shortcake made in the traditional southern Illinois way of using pie crust instead of cake for the berries. If it has pastry it must count as pie too – right? Lemon meringue pie. Banana cream pie. Cherry pie. Apple crumb pie. Years ago I helped judged a pie bake off in Orlando. The table I was at was charged with taste testing pumpkin pie. Which I love and at the time thought was a good idea, That fall I skipped the pumpkin pie. You can get an over load of too much of a good thing.
Cake, my mom’s Red Velvet, . I haven’t heard of this cookbook before ,but have bought several on your recommendation and have not been disappointed.
Definitely a pie person! I love pecan pie and another favorite is butterscotch!
Cake Cake Cake Please! Pile on the buttercream frosting! I do love making a tasty cheesecake in the instant pot.
Well, how fun is this!!! You find the absolute best things, Mary! Wouldn’t it be fun to bake your way through this book? Darling ideas! Makes me want to plan a real party! If only the remodel would hurry up and be completed!
I love Cake! At work they call me “The Cake Lady” because I love to bake and bring yummies to the office. I’d love to have this book – I’ve read great things about this bakery. Thanks Mary for your generosity!
You are a real sweetheart for yet another give-away! I’ll pass as I am still enjoying my big win, “The Southern Living Party Cookboook.” How blessed am I! 😄 But to answer your question, I prefer pie, with Cherry pie being my favorite fruit pie and Lemon Meringue my favorite cream pie. However, I also love Pecan pie and would never say no to a Chocolate Cream pie, or any other pie for that matter, lol. I also enjoy cake, especially a good Carrot cake, or German Chocolate. No wonder I have to keep adding laps to my swim time! Lol. The best of luck to all, this cookbook looks like a good one also! Thanks Mary.

I’m a cake person, strawberry cake is the favorite. Thanks!
Mary, the cookbook looks charming. The number of comments does not bode well for my chances of winning, but I found all the comments very interesting and some simply mouthwatering. Sadly for my waistline, I love both cakes and pies. I would have a difficult time picking which is my favorite, but pies might have a slight edge. I bake both and enjoy treating family and friends with their favorites. Thank you for a very sweet contest for Valentine’s Day. MM
I love all things sweet! I’m especially drawn to coconut cream pie, “Dirt Cake”, and all cheesecakes. I remember seeing the people from “Back in the Day bakery” on TV several years ago. Their creations looked amazing so their book must be fantastic.
Looks like a very cool book! I like both cakes and pies, but probably pies more than cakes. Anything with chocolate in the cake department, especially with lots of chocolate frosting. And of course, a really rich brownie. Hard to choose a favorite pie, there are so many to love; Sour cherry, strawberry rhubarb, lemon chiffon…Thanks for the contest. Happy Valentines to you.
Definitely cake!🙂 Favorite would be anything lemon…🍋🍋🍋
I LIKE IT ALL…..and my waistline shows…ha, ha!! Love is making both your children’s weddings cakes within 1 1/2 years of each wedding! Carrot cake for my girl and chocolate caramel for my boy. Good memories!
I’ve never met a cake OR pie that I didn’t like!!! I’m an “eat dessert first type”! This is an awesome giveaway. I have their first book and would be thrilled to win this one. Thanks for the opportunity.
That is a trick question. I prefer eating pies over cake. That could be due to the fact that my husband bakes the pies in our home, always adding unusual ingredients. I prefer baking cakes. The cake itself has to be perfect and I am forever searching for the perfect balance: not too dry or moist, not too heavy or light, perfect flavor, perfect sweetness, perfect frosting (if there is any) and perfect fit for guests.
pie- I like to bake- but LOVE to eat cake!
I love to bake good southern Pecan Pies. But cake cures my sweet tooth! I have desired a Back in the Day cookbook since my son moved to Savannah.
I can’t decide!!!! I love both cakes and pies! Tho my go-to in baking is, hands down, black bottom cupcakes!
What a fun couple! I will look forward to my next trip through Savannah so I can stop at their shop! I’m a cake girl, but my husband is a pie guy. I love making him his favorites, cherry and apple pies.
I love cake and pie but my favorite dessert to make and eat is any kind of cheesecake. I love the versatility of cheesecake and it’s easy to make gluten free.
My favorite is New York cheesecake! And I can’t forget about my Granny’s old fashioned banana pudding! Yummm!

Oh, my such a hard choice. I love anything homemade. I bake a lot some don’t always come out like the photo on the recipes look but, I try again until I can get it right. I have made many cakes and while I always ask my children and grandchildren what flavor cake they would like this year for their birthday, they always seem to pick chocolate. This couple is adorable and what a great place to have a bakery, with the love of your life to work side by side with I live in the beautiful mountains of NC and love it. Love all your posts and what a great giveaway. Fingers crossed.
I am a pie person and my go to recipe is a coconut custard pie made in the blender.
I guess you could say I am a pie person although a piece of cake with a cup of hot Chai tea in the morning sounds pretty good to me also. For family get-togethers I am usually asked to bring a pecan and/or crumble top apple pie.
I’m a cake, pie, cookie person myself. I bake a pound cake most often, but make a good apple crumble, pecan pie, and chocolate pie. I read cookbooks for pleasure and would love a copy of this Back In The Day Bakery cookbook.

Oh I don’t think it gets any better than the Strawberry pies my uncle Leo used to make. So I guess I’m a pie person. But then there are the many birthday cakes and the memories that were as special as the different favors of cakes.
What a fun looking book you’ve selected for the give away. Baking and Crafts!
Such a fun cookbook! I love both cake and pie. I love to make a 12 layer old fashioned chocolate cake and also love making cherry pie for my dad. His very favorite.

This cookbook looks amazing and what a precious couple to co-author it! Can’t wait to try the sweet and salty cookies highlighted today. Thanks for your daily dose of happiness and inspiration!
I would like to make a pie but that’s scary to me. I’ve never made one before and I’ve not had much guidance in the kitchen. But I’m willing to try!
Yum, the ‘Back-in-the day-bakery’ cookbook is amazing, the design, pictures, recipes draws you in…it reminds me of my late mom’s pie recipes, I love adding to those memories with new recipes. I’d start with the pies, then cakes, and cookies, it’s party time. Thank you for introducing us to this wonderful cookbook!
I love both, but I make more pies. Apple in the fall, strawberry in spring, peach in summer. I make brownies all year!
When my father passed away one of the neighbors brought over a butterscotch coffeecake. After two b tied I was hooked besi ever. Whenever I need to take a cake to share this is my go to recipe.

Love your BLOG by the way.
So many dazzling ideas on your blog. I have been inspired over and over. One of the few blogs that I have stayed with. Regarding desserts? I love pies and choose fruits in season ~ especially sour cherry as that is Captain Romance’s all time favorite. For Sunday dinners, back in the day, my dream pies were Butterscotch, Banana or Coconut Cream, and/or Chocolate Cream. Drool. And drooling over the photos in this book.
