Happy Saturday and first day of Spring!
Here’s a little weekend waterview from Lake Norman.
Daffodils have been blooming for a couple of weeks now,
their happy faces seeking the sun, just like mine!
We were happy to see the sunshine and enjoy some chair time yesterday after a very wet week!
The dry creek bed next to the Potting Shed has been full to overflowing this past week!
We put in a dry creek bed a few years ago to direct the water runoff and to keep the mulch from washing into the lake.
It’s been flowing nonstop for a week now.
We’ve enjoyed some beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the past few weeks.
The red flowers on the silver maple appear in early March and result in a shower of red petals. . .
A precursor to allergy season and reminder to stock up on Zyrtec!
I spied this female Downy woodpecker on the maple tree while taking photos. . .
Lola and Sophie are looking forward to some chair time today.
It feels more like a January day with temps in the 30s this morning but I’m happy we won’t need an umbrella and will see some sunshine!

If you need a little flower therapy, tiptoe through the tulips and enjoy the spring bloom at The Butchart Gardens, HERE.
Happy Spring! ♥

Oh, the memories…I wrote on your blog as I reminisced about our experience at “Butchart Gardens.” Your photos are w/o equal, IMO. franki. Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.Luther Burbank
Happy first day of Spring!🌱 Love your photos. Yes it’s chilly but to me Spring is a promise of warm days ahead. I love to see the flowers and trees budding.
Happy Spring to you and the fur babies!
Happy First day of Spring.Even if it is chilly the sun is shining and we are blessed that we had no storm damage here in our N.C home. Our hearts go out to those that did. I am going to get outside today and plant some more pansies and snapdragons to brighten the deck.
Very pretty! The lake is glasslike…and as always the two little scamps are a favorite!! Have fun!!
Beautiful pictures, Mary, I always enjoy seeing pictures of your potting shed during various times of the year. It’s like getting a sneak peek of things to come! I love early Spring and feeling the excitement as you discover something new begin to get buds or blooms. Hope you enjoy this first day of Spring. 🌷👒🧤
Happy Spring Mary! Your pictures are beautiful. The blue sky is gorgeous as is the lake! We’ve been wet and cloudy all week as well but thankfully no tornadoes! The daffodils and redbuds are blooming here too. I’m loving it! Your girls are so cute sunning on the table. Hope it warms up enough for a boat ride or at least some quality chair time. Enjoy your day! Clara❤️
Can you share how you made your dry bed stream ?
Hi Linda, We used a Bobcat to dig a trench where the water naturally ran and added some stone to line it. You can see a few photos here: https://homeiswheretheboatis.net/2016/06/02/potting-shed-room-to-grow-and-gravel-paths/
As always your photos look so inviting. Love those puppies. They are adorable. Take care and enjoy your spring !
Blessings,
Gert
Happy Spring to you and the girls! I always love seeing your water views and blooming landscape. How fun to have your little creek running. Perfect water feature!
Happy Spring! Time for me to change the wreath on my front door.
Such a beautiful setting! The girls look like they are ready for spring, too.
Can not wait to see flower here in Plymouth, MA. Maybe a couple of more weeks. Hope the deer leave some flowers on the shrubs and trees to bloom. The creek looks so pretty.
Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures with us! They do a wonderful job of helping us anticipate the warmer weather ahead! Hi to Lola and Sophie!
Beautiful pics Mary! I just picked some yard daffs for my table today, soooooo nice:@) Enjoy the nice weather and Happy Spring!
Happy first day of Spring, Mary!! Your daffodils are so pretty and I’m amazed at the water run off in your dry creek bed. Enjoy your weekend!
I would love to sit at your creek daily for the week it’s been running. So serene and relaxing! Happy Spring Mary!
There is nothing better for the soul than a beautiful water view! Happy Spring Mary, cheers to longer and sunnier days ahead, and lots of blooming flowers! 🌷
You have made my Sunday even better!
Each pix was breathtaking and hit home.
White, Lavenders, and pink flowers mixed
With the lush Boxwood works best for us!
Your days sitting with hubby in your
Gardens Is a Blessing from above…Enjoy!
Oh MY! LOVE these pictures, especially the one of the dock with the pinkish sky and the shimmer of gold and bit of pink on the water, wow! Of course the sweet fur babies are a delight and then your dry creek bed that has flowing water is just so awesome! What a special effect for your lovely garden. How wonderful to hear running water throughout your garden. I’m loving all your beautiful daffodils, I’m just seeing little green nubs pushing through the ground. My hope is one day to be able to see Butchart Gardens in person, if and when we go out to Washington to see our grand ydaughter. Thanks for the incredible pictures! Happy SPRING! 🌸🥀🌾🌼🐑🐇
Great Spring photos! We’re about a week or two behind your schedule of blooms, but those silver maples are shedding all over the place right now. Your dry creek bed looks like a success! The water flowing through it makes for some great, new photo opps too. I love that one with the potting shed out of focus and the creek bed, flowers in focus.
Beautiful walk about, love your own little river!
I love your single hyacinths growing by the creek! I used to have some that were originally from my grandmother but sadly, forgot to dig them up when I moved! Any idea where I could order some?
Hi Sue, I usually pick some up at Walmart in early spring but anywhere that sells bulbs online would have hyacinths. There are lots of varieties available at Brecks: https://www.brecks.com/category/Hyacinth_Flower_Bulbs
Thank you Mary!
