Welcome to “Tea on Tuesdays”!
I’m happy to *bee* joining Pam at Everyday Living

We’ll be sharing all things “tea” including table and recipe inspiration on the
third Tuesday of every month and invite you to join us for a virtual cuppa!
If you’ve been a follower of my blog for any length of time then you know
I love all things *bee* including seeing them buzz and bumble

I’m having tea with the bees today, which makes for a
fun tea-themed party for summer!
We’re sipping Harney & Sons Bee’s Knees Tea today, a Roaring Twenteas-inspired tea,
and play on the 1920’s cocktail, The Bee’s Knees. It’s a white tea and blend
of botanicals, including juniper berries, lemon peel, honey and lemon flavors.
Bees, in the form of gold bee magnets, were added to the tin
for a little buzz-worthy embellishment at the table.
With temperatures in the 90s, we’re enjoying our tea iced instead of hot today,
and sipping from Quattro Stagioni canning jars
that have a bee skep design on the jars.
When I spied these jars at T.J. Maxx a several years ago,
I made a beeline for the checkout counter! 🐝
Refreshing for summer, served over ice with lemon, a sprig of pineapple mint
and sweetened with honey from a Bee Sweet Honey Pot!
Bees are buzzing on the tablecloth, placemats and on a
bee skep cookie jar, serving as a centerpiece for the table. . .
More bees are buzzing on my favorite
Wallace Napoleon Bee flatware. . .
And on napkin rings and embroidered Napoleonic Bee and laurel wreath napkins.
Embossed salad plates are abuzz with a bee skep design.
Placesettings are a adorned with a teapot-shaped mini teabag holder,
which would make a fun little takeaway for a bee-themed tea!
Help yourself to a sweet beehive cakelet!
A beehive shaped cloche was a HomeGoods find several years ago. . .
A Nordic Ware Beehive Cakelets Pan
was pulled into service to make
Almond Beehive Cakelets with Lemon Glaze.
This recipe, courtesy of Nordic Ware, makes 12 mini cakelets.
I used a simple lemon-confectioners’ sugar glaze to drizzle
on the cakelets.
Almond Beehive Cakelets with Lemon Glaze
Equipment
- Nordic Ware Beehive Cakelets Pan
Ingredients
Cakelet Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 2/3 cup plain yogurt
Lemon Glaze
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F. Prepare Beehive Cakelet Pan with baking spray containing flour and use a pastry brush to evenly coat the cavities of the pan.
- In a small bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt and set aside.
- Using a mixer with a paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and almond extract and blend thoroughly.
- Mix in flour mixture and yogurt until smooth. Pour into prepared pan, filling each cavity 3/4 full. Gently tap pan on towel-covered counter to release air bubbles.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of cakes comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cakes cool in pan for 8 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack.
- Wash pan, prepare with baking spray and repeat with remaining batter.
- To make lemon glaze: Place confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl; stir in lemon juice (glaze should be thick, yet pourable). Add more sugar or lemon juice, as necessary, to achieve desired consistency. Drizzle over cooled cakelets.
Notes
Teapots are serving as vases, filled with garden hydrangeas, abelia foliage, pineapple mint
and chaste tree (vitex) seed pods.
They’re buzzing with bees and bee magnets. . .
I gave the bee magnets a 2-minute makeover, adding some silver highlights,
transforming them with Rub ‘n Buff.
Bee magnets are attached to a metal binder clip on top of
a bamboo skewer, to add a bit of bee ‘jewelry’ to the arrangement.

Wow, what a terrific collection and setting for your first tea on Tuesday! I love it all, but the tea itself, inspired from the Roaring Twenteas, is perfect for me, both in the flavor description and fitting the theme.
Your eye for adding to your bee service collection is ever so tasteful. HG has offered some great elements over the years. That cloche is very cool. The Amazon napkin rings are super stylish, rivaling some over-the-top brands. I’ve made those cakes and they are so good (esp when heavy hanging the almond extract. 😉). And, of course, the florals are gorgeous. I’d love to make a beeline right over and enjoy it all in person! Happy Tuesday!
Thanks so much for your kind comment and visit Rita! Yes that tea is perfect for your inner flapper girl alongside a mini cakelet. :) Happy Tuesday ❤️🐝
Mary…this was delightful! You are so creative. I put the bee teapot on the birthday wishlist and ordered the white tea. I expect to be sipping some Thursday morning. Thank you for sharing your creativity! Peace.
Thank you Cindi! I hope you enjoy your tea! ☕️ 🐝❤️
Good morning, Mary. I was happy to be awakened early this morning by thunder, lightning, and glorious rain. We desperately needed it. Now for your fun Bee’s Knees summer tea spread. You have a beautiful collection of all things bees! The Harney & Sons tea blend sounds refreshing and is lovely served in the canning jars with the pineapple mint. The bee skep cookie jar is the perfect centerpiece. I love that bees are buzzing all over your table from the tablecloth to napkins and rings to embossed salad plates and landing in the flowers. The beehive cakelet looks delicious and the perfect complement to your iced tea. They look so cute under the beehive cloche. What would we do without Rub ‘n Buff, it works magic. I am so happy to be joining you for Tea on Tuesday’s💛🐝 Have a wonderful day, Mary 🐝🐝🐝
Thank you Pam! I’m keeping my fingers crossed we get some much needed rain tonight. Thanks so much for inviting me to join you for Tea on Tuesdays. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead, Stay cool ❤️🐝
I don’t know what happened to my comments Mary….I seem to have lost them. so rather than try to repeat my lengthy response…I can’t remember what happened yesterday let alone all that I typed this morning. LOL
I LOVE your bee table and one thing I remember from my previous meanderings was my comment on your love for our little bees. Your attention to detail is as always amazing. Two of my friends recently had to have a beekeeper come and remove bee hives from their properties as mailman complained and the other hive was in the garden hose box. Have a beautiful Tuesday and thank you and Pam for tea time. Kari
Thanks so much Kari and for persevering to comment! So glad your friends’ bees were rescued and relocated. 🐝 Happy Tuesday ❤️

Oh goodness Mary, you really have created bee tea everything! I don’t know where to start talking about all the cuteness! I’m crazy about the place mats and the tea pot shaped tea bag holders! Everything is over the top cute and fun, you always seem to find the most incredible details for the theme setting you are doing, such as the Bee’s Knees tea tin! Thank you for a wonderful Tuesday treat, my mind will be buzzing with it all day!
Jenna
Thank you Jenna! Wishing you a wonderful week, stay cool! 🐝❤️
I was looking forward to your tea party this morning, Mary! All things bees on your table is such a fun theme. I wondered if the bees knees Harney and Sons tea was good, and it sounds wonderful, and better iced for summer. You probably remember that I have a teapot that matches your cookie jar. I really enjoyed this happy post this morning and I’d love to make the cakelets in my beehive pan. They sound fabulous with the almond flavoring. Thank you for sharing the beauty and inspiration with us. 🐝 💛 🐝

How wonderful, Mary! We are thrilled with the new Tea on Tuesdays! I went to France 🇫🇷 3 years ago and have made my new kitchen a French Country one with blue&white dishes/linens, yellow walls and white wainscoting. I have the same bee magnets on my refrigerator doors! 🐝 Please share the name/design of the place setting mats with lemons and olives… I would love to find some! Again, thank you for your lovely inspirations!

Thank you Kym, they are placemats. :) 🐝
What a tablescape you have set, buzzing with happiness! This post makes me want to bake something with lemons, visit the Mothership of Home Goods with wild abandon, and set a new table today.
I must share that I recently house-sat for a family member and couldn’t help but feel like a bit of a hoarder after seeing how few linens they had in the home. I returned home thinking I would clean house. Thankfully, your post is a most welcomed intervention preventing me from making the mistake of discarding beloved linens. Whew, that was a close call!
Absolutely lovely post filled with all the sunshiney-goodness of summer!
Too funny Betsy! Thanks for buzzing by and your comment! I visited the Mothership today and was gobsmacked by all their Halloween goodies. Happy Tuesday ♥ 🐝
Gorgeous 🐝🐝🐝🐝 post. Thanks for sharing.
Mary, it’s no surprise that I want to buzz on over to join this delight first Tea Time Tuesday Tea. I’m thrilled you and Pam decided to start this series. Bravo! I recognize a few bee themed pieces that are in my own collection, but the Harney & Sons’ Bees Knees Tea is new to me. Ordering some tonight! I may need to make some cakelets soon too, and I have the same bee hive cloche to keep them fresh. Happy Tea Time Tuesday!

Love this post, huge tea fan here. I have never tried their teas and will have to now, looks lovely. Thank you for the recipe, when our weather cools a bit I will have to try it with my mini Bundt pan cakes.
That’s a honey of a tea-party and couldn’t bee any sweeter! I work at a wonderful assisted living memory care home called BeeHive. As you might imagine, we have a bit of a bee theme going on there in the decorating department. Thanks for sharing the how-to of some of your cute accessories.
I love your blog so much! It is my favorite to read and look at your photos. I used to own two tearooms so this new addition is perfect.
Love the bee theme and can’t wait to see your next Tea on Tuesday!
