Happy Saturday!
Here’s a weekend waterview from Lake Norman.
Our 20-year old pontoon got a refresh, with new upholstery,
vinyl flooring and an exterior wrap.
Ta-da!
Southern heat and humidity + a black boat cover = the perfect recipe for mildew,
increasingly harder to remove, despite elbow grease and vinyl cleaner.
The 20-year old vinyl had started to deteriorate, but
I’ll spare you more not-too-pretty photos. ;)
We dropped the pontoon off in February to get a cosmetic makeover. . .
The quality of marine vinyl has greatly improved in 20 years.
New vinyl wrap covered the exterior that was faded
from the UV rays, and fresh decals were applied.
Sophie approves of the vinyl mesh flooring that sheds water,
which will dry much more quickly that the carpet we had before.
We enjoyed some welcome sunshine and boating this week. . .
hot-in-the-sun-cold-in-the-shade-weather, typical of spring.
Good weather for napping on the boat!
🐾🐾
We always enjoy checking in on the Osprey nesting on the lake. . .
Osprey winter in Central and South America and return to the same nest
here on the lake around the beginning of March.
They can log more than 160,000 migration miles
during their 15-to-20-year lifetime.
Ring-billed Gulls always make an appearance
on the lake in late winter and early spring. . .
Birds of a feather flock together, so it’s rare to see one gull,
as they usually travel with 30 or more of their friends.
They were enjoying some sunshine and fishing off of this shoal.
Lola says a ride in the Captain’s chair ranks
right up there with napping on the boat!
Right on cue, we have April showers in the forecast today,
with gusty winds and storms moving through,
but the sunshine returns tomorrow.
Hope you’re enjoying some sunshine where you are. ♥
Happy Weekend

Thank you for your visit, sharing with:
Wow, your pontoon looks brand new! We’re expecting some pretty strong winds today as the rain moves eastward. We got over 1.5″ in the last 24 hrs. Have a good one.
Oh Mary…those little puppies are to adorable for words! The pictures on the lake are gorgeous..you seem to capture the birds in such a stunning way. I am always amazed when I read about how far birds fly. Enjoy the Spring! Peace
“Let’s go for a ride”…one of my favorite phrases!!! Your pontoon (name??) looks wonderful!!! Our 17 year old, “Big Bertha,” whom we adore, will be envious… Today…40-50mph winds…not even sailing weather…fickle Spring…franki
Your pontoon looks great and I love seeing the girls enjoy their nap and ride. We are getting some much needed rain today, but unfortunately the wind is coming, too.
Always fun to see your furbabies and your husband in your posts! ❤️
Looks like everyone is enjoying that sunshine!
We enjoy sailing on your lake and keep our sailboat at LNYC. We live a little less than 2 hours north in the Marion area where we keep our pontoon boat on Lake James.
Would you mind sharing who did your wrap, Mary? Our boat is in for new vinyl as we speak but that gentleman doesn’t do wraps. Love your new floor!!
Your boat does look brand new! You all and the girls will enjoy that beautiful boat for years to come!
If you care to share the info privately please email me, Thank you! ❤️
Good Morning! I absolutely loved all of the pictures you shared today. Your Pontoon has become so fresh and new. Of course I am a Bichon person so I appreciate every pic of your beautiful girls. What fun to cruise around and enjoy the nature and sun on the lake. Thank you so much for sharing the beauty you are wise enough to enjoy whenever you can.
Your boat looks brand new Mary! We are fighting the dreaded mildewed boat cushions too, we’re at the beach this week, and the fog has been thick many mornings, warm air and cold water, it’s so foggy this morning we can barely see the pier and everything outside is so wet…hopefully it will burn off later and there will be boat rides!
Your boat looks great Mary. It’s amazing how far birds can fly and the fact that they know exactly where to return each year. The girls are so cute! Happy Saturday! Clara❤️
Your boat and weather looks so lovely. The girls love their boat trips!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures Mary.
Beautiful transition, your boat looks brand new. Hopefully it will be easier to clean up. Your fur babies are joy to see while they nap comfortably. Happy Boat outings.
The photos of the Osprey are so striking.
Always a pleasure to see a waterview and pups post from you. Your boat looks great.
What a way to kick off the boating season with a complete boat facelift; it looks terrific! We’re watching our local lake as the Tahoe snow has not yet melted and the persistent and much welcomed NorCal rain is adding to and being released from the lake. We are anxiously awaiting the boating season, but for now the water is way too chilly for any activity. We finally have a sunny day (no complaints here about the rain!) so we’re off to Tahoe where the high is 33 for the day. BRRR! I’m ready to peel off the sweaters and rain boots and get back to shorts! Thank you for sharing your beautiful day!
The ospreys just returned to the nest I watch in Boulder, Co. My favorite pastime!
The boat looks great & ready to cruise the lake! We are at our lake cottage in the Northwoods of WI, where we got 15” of snow last night. We always hope fore ice out the first week of May, but we don’t pull our tritoon out of storage until the week of Memorial Day just to be safe. We are dreaming of getting out on the lake, but right now we’re hoping to get out on the roads by tomorrow!
Nice makeover on your pontoon. Your pups are so cute and must love those outings. Would love to see some photos with you holding them sometime!
Your boat is beautiful Mary! We don’t get out on the river too much here unless we bribe a couple of our friends who own boats, but it’s wonderful every time. Thanks for sharing your ride with us – I feel like I just took a little vacation, especially since we have rain and thunder at the moment! 😊
The Boat looks fabulous and it didn’t seem like a long time for the work. For those that deal with mildew, I use peroxide. The dogs are so cute and seem to love the boat. If you give them distilled water, they won’t have brown near their eyes. I use it for my cats.
Great photos.
Your boat looks fabulous, along with your darling furry passengers! We are still in winter with freezing temps, so nice to see the rest of the country living the good life, I can’t wait for spring to arrive in California!
The pontoon refresh looks fabulous, looks new! As always, the girls are adorable! Happy Sunday, Mary!
Beautiful pictures Mary and it looks like a great day for the first boat ride of the season in the newly refreshed pontoon. Your pups are adorable! Our snow here is just starting to melt so sunning and boating are a ways away yet. Wishing you a lovely week!
The boat looks great! Can’t wait to get back on the water!!! Your pups are so cute and looks like they are enjoying the ride!!!!
Congratulations on your “new” boat, hehe. Looks great! The girls love that fresh air for sure! I always enjoy your boating time, thanks for the ride!
